Another Month

Chapter 13 - Present - William

"... Do you want to say that Fluffy didn't just get lost?" Confused, Jordan asked his friend, unable to imagine who might want to harm a child.

"Exactly, he may be lost now, but I'm sure it wasn't his fault that he's away from his Pack right now." Looking at the little one in the teacher's arms, she shared the sad news. "And, whoever did it, planned everything very well since he was cursed, or at least, I'm pretty sure he was."

"Cursed, as a real Witch did it to him?" Chills run down the man's body as he thought about everything that the pup should have gone through before he found him. "Do you think it was the same person who took him from his Pack?"

"I don't know, but surely a Witch helped in that since he can't communicate with us, and I also can't get into his mind, which would be impossible without outside help if we keep in mind that he is just a child. " 

... Ria already knew that as the Human World, the Supernatural World could also be very cruel, but for Jordan, it was the first time that he had encountered something like that. 

For sure, he heard some stories in the past like the ones about the Unruled hunters or the famous Shapeless Witch that could be anyone's worst nightmare, but for him... They were just stories...

"Do you... Do you think we would be able to find his Pack for him?" Swallowing the lump in his throat, he asked the Vampire who just sighed, running a hand through her hair before answering him.

"Honestly? I don't know." Even if Ria wanted to lie to her friend, she couldn't...

Werewolves were a race that always walked in groups like the Mermaids, and even if Fluffy belonged to a small group like a family Pack, it meant that at least one or two people out there was looking for him.

... In other words... 

If no one had found him until now, it meant that the little one was farther from home than they believed, and the sadness that filled the room was just too much for the woman to bear.

"... But that doesn't mean we can't try." She ended up stating, cheering both the teacher and the pup, who immediately raised his ears when he heard her.

"REALLY? You really meant it?!" Jordan knew how hard the pain of losing a child son was, so he could imagine how useless Fluffy's parents should be feeling right now.

"Yeah, I do." And simple as that, with a small smile on her face, she confirmed to him. "I don't know how long this gonna take, or if we're going to find them, but we can try in any way, and I know a few small Packs that might be able to help us too, sharing the news about him with other Packs, besides warning us if someone shows up to look for him in their lands."

"Thanks, Ria! I knew you should have some contact that could help us." Having a smile that went from an ear to another, the man thanked her happily, making the woman just rolled her eyes as an answer.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm amazing, I know, but that doesn't mean that I'll do everything on my own."

"No, I know it would be too much just for you to do that. I will ask my mom to help, too." Without thinking twice, he soon agreed with her. "I'm sure she or my grandmother must know some local Packs back home that can help us, too."  

... But it was a pity that the Packs they knew, were yet aware of the news about the disappearance of the little Nicholas, or even worse, they didn't have any contact with a big Pack like Coleman...

The Pack that Nico belonged to, could be one of the largest in the country, but that didn't mean everyone was close to them.

The price of so much power for Coleman was the fact that the Alphas of small groups and family Packs were always afraid of them.  

Some of them even believed in their old fame which said that like their past leaders, Coleman's turned Alpha and his powerful wolves would steal the territories from other Packs, or even use their power to assume the control of them to make their number big.    

... Being Mingan the only one who managed to fight back against their threat, making both old rivals until the present day.

Another month had passed, and no news had been heard about Nicholas at all.

Time seemed to pass so fast and slow at the same time, that my heart was breaking every single day without knowing where my pup was.

... I wanted my son back, back in my arms like the day he asked me to play with him, and I refused him as I trained with the other wolves...

"Knock, knock." Smiling from my door, Asia seemed to have the same foxy look in her eyes as always. "I hope I'm not bothering you."

Without waiting for my permission, she spoke, entering my office.

The beautiful curls of her hair dyed in pinkish-red flew in the air as she confidently came to me as one of the most beautiful she-wolves of the Pack.

Her father's Brazilian descent seemed to have blessed her in the best ways, giving her beautiful curves and a golden skin like my honey that made almost all the men in Coleman want her as their Mate.

"Where's Lucy? Aren't you supposed to be with her?" Asia used to be a kindergarten teacher, and when Serena left us, I hired her to babysit my newborn daughter, since... I wasn't in the best condition to look after my baby girl.

"She's sleeping, but don't worry, I have the baby monitor with me, in case she wakes up." While her hazel eyes stared at me all the time, she brushed her hand against the edges of the table, only stopping when she was already beside me. "So... I was going to eat when I heard Beta say you haven't had your dinner yet too, so I decided to invite you to eat with me."

Playing with a lock of her hair, she kept mentioning, leaning against my desk.

"Thanks for the invitation, Asia, but I will need to refuse that." Coldly, I rejected her with an indifference in my voice that was unfamiliar to me too. "I still need to call all these Packs to see if anyone has any news about Nico."

Before she could even ask me why, I answered her, showing the long list of people who were helping us, but even with that, it didn't mean that she would surrender so easily.  

"C'mon, Alpha. If anyone had found anything about him, they would have called you already." Approaching me, she said, placing her hand on my shoulder with a smile on her face that could easily make any man or wolf do whatever she wanted. "C'mon, just five minutes! It will not be the end of the world, and anyone can call you or Zeus if they found any news."

Pulling my arm, she continued to beg me before my phone rang, interrupting her to Asia annoyment as she rolled her eyes with a pout in her lips.

"Hello? Yes, you are talking to him," The call was from the manager of my new spa, talking about some problems that appeared in there, and that would delay the opening. "You can't just cancel the opening, everything has already been planned, and invitations for VIP customers and press has already been sent, so that's not a possible option. Yeah... Yeah... I know that this is why I'm saying that call everything off at the moment is not possible... Okay, let's do this, send me a report with all the problems, and I will change my schedules for next week, so I can go there personally and solve everything with my main team, okay? "

Ending the call with another problem on my hands, I soon opened my e-mail to check the first report that the manager had just sent me, completely forgetting about Asia until I heard the office door close with a slam before Zeus showed up.

"... What did you do to Asia, Liam?" Handing me some documents from the Pack's winery, I ended up thinking that every time I saw him recently, it was just to talk about work, especially now that Serena was no longer here to help me with the farm. 

"Nothing." Despite my answer, the expression on his face told me that he didn't believe in that. "... Fine, she wanted me to go to dinner with her, but I said I couldn't since I have to confirm the progress made in the investigations about where Nico could be."

"... Liam, you know that a little time off won't kill you, right?" He spoke to me after letting out a tired sigh, even if he didn't like to agree with Asia usually, as they both always fight like cats and dogs daily.

"She told me the same thing." I ended up mentioning it just to annoy my best friend, seeing his face twist with that simple comment, however, it no longer made me laugh like it used to do in the past. "But there's nothing that I can do if the extra work always finds a way to my desk."

Going back to what I was doing, I soon saw in the report how delayed the construction of the new spa was, making me think that I should never have entrusted it to a Human company since the beginning.

"... I'll get you something to eat." After another tired sigh, Zeus told me, going to the door before I stopped him when he was leaving. "What? You won't tell me that you don't want to eat, right?"

"No, I will not." Disturbed by the way that he spoke to me as if I were a child, I answered him, using my Alpha voice without meaning to. "I just want to warn you that next week, I'm going to Berley, so ask Arcana to clean up her schedule, and prepare our best team with ten or fifteen wolves to work in the new spa."

Mentioning his sister, who was also my Gamma and engineer, Zeus already knew very well what I meant by that, sighing once more as he said okay before leaving the office, and I hid my feelings again in my work.
