Chapter 11 - Past - Maria

Looking around the room, the woman was more than glad about everything she had choose.

The subtle color in the walls looked amazing with the white furniture and the baby blue things around the room, but at the end of the day, her favorite thing in there was ocean themed bedding set that her mother-in-law had given her as a gift after the baby news.

The octopus, fishes, and whale in the set were so cute, and the different shades of blue matched her decor so well, even if it wasn't something that was planned.

"... Here you are." Opening the door carefully, her husband mentioned it when he saw her tidying up the nursery again, even though their son would born just an almost five months from now, and they had just discovered the s*x of the baby. "Did you forget that you will see your doctor today?"

He asked her lovingly, holding her hand when she apologized.

"It's okay, but we should be going If you don't want to arrive later in there," Handing her bag to her, he couldn't stop his eyes from look at the woman's bump... It was yet so small. "Are you sure that you're fine? Maybe we should ask the doctor to come here instead?"  

... Even if she looked fine now, he was still worried that something might be wrong with her or the baby...

"Jo, I'm fine." Smiling, she tried to calm him down. "You gonna see, the doctor will say the same thing, and in the end, it will just be you getting so worried for nothing, and you'll keep doing this until this baby is born to make the handsome Jordan think twice if he chooses the right thing while he loses his hair."

Going up the stairs while humming, I was almost on Jordan's floor when I came across Mrs. Lopez, the owner of the building.

The old lady seemed to like me because I was from a Mexican family like her, so she always enjoyed stopping me in the hallway to have a good conversation in Spanish, gossiping about the other tenants, and stuff like that.

... In addition to her thousands of questions about when Jo and I would take the next step since she never believed that we were just friends...

"MARIA!" In a loud and good tone, she called me, making an expression of disgust briefly appear on my face as I wasn't a big fan of my own name. "I'm so happy to see you! I was so worried when you left so suddenly in the last time, and I even told Jordan that he should go after you to apologize for whatever it was that he had done."

Imaginative as my mamá, she told me as if what had happened was part of a novela or a tv show.

"Yeah... I couldn't stay away from him for long." Going along with her drama, I said, looking forward to go to Jordan's apartment soon to confirm my suspicions.

"Are you going to see Jordan?" As if she noticed my desire to escape, she ended up mentioning it. "Oh, God! What am I saying? Of course, you're going to see Jordan. Besides, who else would you came to visit in this old building?"

"... Right... I came to meet Fluffy. Jo doesn't stop talking about him." Using the pup as an excuse, I couldn't believe yet that with his big eyes, he had even won over the old lady, who was known to be very strict when it came to her rules, including the one that said that no animals were allowed in the building.

"You don't know him yet? Ohhhh, you gonna love him. El es o perrito más lindo que hay en el mundo." Saying that the canine was the cutest puppy in the world in Spanish, all that came out of her mouth were just compliments to the furry guy that I thought would be gone by now, especially after they got caught three days ago.  

... But apparently, Luck wasn't on my side as I imagined when it was about Jordan's new friend...

"OH, RIGHT! Can you wait a minute, Maria? I just remembered that yesterday, I saw these toys that I think he will love, but as my daughter came to have dinner with me, I ended up forgetting to give it to Jordan. " See? As I said, he had done another person became his victim.

And so I saw the old lady running back to her apartment to get the gifts for the pup that I couldn't deny, matched his name so well, just as Jo had told me.

"Here!" Scaring me, Mrs. Lopez said out of nowhere, putting a bag full of stuffed animals, balls, and other things before me, and that was certainly more than just a few toys. "Please don't forget to ask Jordan to tell me later which ones he liked the most, and there are a few outfits too, so if he could be kind to send me some pictures of Fluffy wearing them, I would love that."

I could only imagine the strange smile that should be on my face as my eyes travel from the bag to the other Latin woman who was looking at me happy with her newfound passion for puppies.

... While I couldn't understand yet what was so cute about canines, and if I could, I wanted to stay as far as possible away from them...

But yet, they seemed to be all around me for my dislike.

... Carefully, opening the apartment door, I already knew I was right, and as I put the bag on the floor while counting down in my head, the time that would take for the Werewolf pup to show up in the living room.

... And as I said, there he was in just a few seconds...

His growl was still weak and childlike compared to other wolves, but that made him sense, after all, he was just a child.

And although he tried to imitate the elders of his Pack while threatening me, all of his noises and snarlings were less frightening than a mosquito bite.

"So, you're the pup that Jordan found..." Walking over to him, I could see that he was scared, but that he didn't want to show it because of his pride.

... Typical of the Werewolves...

"You are very brave for snarling at me when you are just lone pup, now tell me, where is your Pack? How did you come here?" I could feel my eyes change of color as I tried to get into his mind to see who he wa- "OUCH!"

I couldn't believe he had bitten me, and without thinking twice, I hissed to him, frozen the pup in fear.

"You're going to listen to me now, right?" Sweetly, I spoke as I picked him up by the scruff while he looked back to me with his eyes full of fear. "Good. Now... back to what I was doing..."
