Chapter 7 - Present
On a quiet morning, that Sunday day started with the sun coming in through the window.
Snuggled up in bed, Jordan slept with Fluffy in his arms as if he were a baby before his cellphone rang, waking them both up.
"... Morning?" Yet sleepy, the teacher spoke, answering the call, before his mother's familiar voice woke him up from the other side of the line.
"Sorry, Honey. I thought you would have already woken up at this time." Making the teacher look at the time on his alarm, the older woman mentioned while her son saw 11 o'clock marked on the device besides his bed.
It was the first time in months that Jordan had such a peaceful night of sleep, without worrying about the time in the following morning.
"No, it's okay, mom. I should be up already by now." Turning on the bed, the man replied, looking at the ceiling. "I don't think I heard the alarm today or something like that."
"It's okay, this is good sometimes, Darling. And today is Sunday in any way, so no problem at all, right?" In her cheerful voice, she mentioned, happy to see her son a little more relaxed, even if away from her.
"Yeah... This is good sometimes." Looking at the puppy that was now lying on his chest, Jordan ended up saying without thinking twice while stroking the ear of the little one who seemed to be enjoying the affection given to him.
"By the way, how are you and dad? Is everything fine over there?"
"The same as always, Honey. We came back home the other day, and your father is cleaning the boat right now." As always, his parents were most of the time at sea, doing what they loved the most. "How about you, Sweet? Are you fine?"
Even though she knew he was from the tone of his voice, the woman ended up asking the familiar question that Jordan had heard a lot in the past few months...
... But somehow, that question didn't seem to weigh so heavily on his mind as before...
"Good, the job is better than I expected, and I kinda like living here, even if it's pretty far from the sea." Getting up out of bed, the teacher went to the kitchen to look for something to eat while talking to his mother.
Fluffy all the time following him while the man prepared some coffee for himself after putting some dog food for the puppy, despite knowing that it was useless, since every time the little guy just looked back to him as if he was saying that he wouldn't eat that.
"Do you know that at some point, you're going to have to get used to eating this, right?" Giving some cookies to the little one, Jordan spoke as he saw Fluffy running happily to the pillow he had marked as his on the floor.
"No way! I am not going to eat dog food!" Laughing in his mind, the little Werewolf thought as he ate his breakfast, happily, forgetting about the man.
... After all, his food was more important right now...
"Jordan? What did you say to me?" Confused by her son's words, the woman asked without knowing about the man's new roommate.
"No, sorry, mom. I was talking to Fluffy." Eating a cookie too, the teacher spoke, remembering that he was yet on the phone.
"Fluffy? Who's Fluffy?" And again, he heard that same question on that week.
"Ah, he is a puppy that I found in the last week." And as if it were nothing important, the young man answered her while drinking his coffee.
Thinking about it now, Jordan then noticed how quickly time had passed without him noticing, and that it had been a little over a week since he started living with the puppy, and how he was enjoying having Fluffy's company with him more and more, as each day went by.
... And surely his mother noticed too...
"I see. I'm happy to know that you're happy in there, Honey and that you have a little roommate with you too." Even if she wanted to have her son back in their hometown, she understood how important this was for Jordan, and how much her son needed some time away from everyone else.
