The New Routine

Chapter 8 - Present "Here, Clarissa. You should put the shadow in this area too." Quickly showing the mistake in his student's drawing, Jordan continued to check the work done by the teenagers who needed to draw a vase in their perspective in that afternoon. No longer gossip and stares were directed toward the simple man as new rumors became more interesting for the young people, making Jordan just another art teacher again. ... As the class ended, he soon finished his explanation, saying what would be the students' homework for the following week before the bell rang, and the place was left empty until only he remained in there before his next class walked in...    At the end of the day, going to the bathroom, he saw the dirty water running down the drain before he noticed the black marks on his shirt from the graphite that he had used earlier. Sighing, he tried to remember which class he could have got the stain while he changed into a clean shirt to go home... On the way back, he stopped at a market to buy something to make dinner for them, as after all, he had already given up trying to make Fluffy eat his dog food. The puppy was more stubborn than he had thought, and despite the recommendations that he read online, nothing seemed to work with his little friend who seemed to know that he couldn't refuse his cries and puppy's eyes. ... And even if he didn't even know, the smart Werewolf pup was already an important part of his life, which helped him a lot, although the little guy couldn't communicate with him right now...   "Fluffy? I'm back." Entering the apartment, the man spoke before the puppy appeared running from his room, happy with his tail wagging when he saw the man. "How was your day, boy? Everything was fine?" Asking, he went to the kitchen with the bags without knowing that the little one was answering him in his mind. "Boring! I had nothing to do, so I slept until you arrived. Can we play now?" Smelling Jordan's comforting scent, the puppy continued to whine at his feet as he separated the things he would need to prepare dinner for tonight. "How about spaghetti bolognese for today? Do you like it?" A loud bark was the answer to his question before the teacher told Fluffy to be quiet, reminding him that he couldn't bark if he wanted to continue living there, thus causing the little one to lie down on the floor, waiting for him while he prepared the food. ... Soon the smell of the simple dinner dominated the small apartment, making the little Werewolf's mouth water as he could no longer wait to delight himself with the food made by the kind man who found him...    Turning off the stove, Jordan got a plate from the cupboard for himself and Fluffly's empty bowl from the floor, washing where the puppy was going to eat before he served a good amount of food for both of them. ... And with a small dog following him happily, he went to the couch where he now had got used to having his dinner while watching the news of the day... Placing Fluffy's bowl on the floor, he was going to turn on the TV while the animal waited for him to eat when his cellphone rang with Ria's name appearing on the screen. "Hi, Ria." Carefreely, he replied, placing his plate back on the coffee table that didn't seem to fit very well in the space, but he kept in there as it had been a gift from the woman who was calling him. "Hi, Sweetheart. How was your day?" As usual, she asked him in the same way that she always did when she called him after work. "The same as always, nothing new." Leaving the TV on mute, he spoke while changing channels randomly, listening to his friend do the same thing on the other end of the line. "I see... What about the furball? Is he yet there?" Remembering about the dog that was living with Jordan, Maria asked, hoping that the animal was no longer there on her next visit since she wasn't a big fan of canines. "Yeah, Fluffy is fine too," The man replied, looking at the puppy that was still waiting for him to eat, even though his stomach was already growling and the smell in front of him didn't help at all, being so tempting. "We were going to have dinner when you called me." "Wait! Are you eating your dinner with a dog?" The fact that Fluffy was a dog wasn't the major issue in her question, but the fact that Jordan was eating his dinner was. She knew everything about the problem her friend had to eat at that time of day, and whenever she visited him, it was always so hard to make the teacher have anything for dinner.   ... Honestly, she was kind of annoyed that a dog had managed to do what she couldn't, despite being happy too... "C'mon, Ria. He has a name, and yes, I eat with him." Rolling his eyes, he spoke before laughing to himself as he remembered the first time he ate his dinner with the puppy. "And it can be a little hard to believe, but he only eats after I start eating my food first, so if I don't eat anything, he will starve too."  He kept telling her happily while remembering the silly memory as the little Werewolf became more and more eager to enjoy his dinner, wondering why the kind man couldn't speak to the woman later. "He waits for you?" And as Jordan had thought, Maria didn't seem to believe what he had told her. "Yeah... On the first day, he didn't do it right away, but when he saw that I wasn't eating my dinner, he stopped eating his food too, out of nowhere, and just finished when I ate mine too." Staring at the puppy, he said. "And I can swear that I thought I was going crazy when I saw him do it, yet now that I think about it, maybe it was a habit that he had with his former owner. " "Or something else .." The woman thought, saying nothing to her friend at first as she found the puppy's behavior very strange. "Jo, did he- OH, MY GOD! Mamacita! Where do I sign to have a man like that in my life?" Screaming against her phone, she forgot about what she was going to ask him when she saw on TV the shirtless figure of the CEO that she was talking about in the last time they saw each other.
