Chapter 9 - Past - Jordan
Laughing, the woman put her hand over her belly, which would soon become a baby bump.
She had spent the past few days so happy after confirming that she was pregnant.
That baby was almost a miracle among their kind, and she already loved them so much, even if they were yet smaller than a bean.
"What is so funny?" Entering the room, her husband wiped the sweat from his face as he asked her before removing his completely wet shirt that seemed stuck to his muscular chest.
"Can you believe in that? We gonna be parents soon, and this pup will be ours... Your and mine." Yet smiling, she spoke from the bed while her hands kept touching her belly. "Thank you, Liam."
Confusing the Alpha, she thanked him, and he couldn't understand why.
"What are you talking about, Serena?" Approaching her, the man decided to stand beside the bed instead of sitting on it, as his body was yet dirty from another daily training.
"Thank you for fulfilling my wish. Thank you for being the best friend that I should have, Liam." Holding his hand, she said, allowing her blue eyes to meet his greenish-brown ones. "Thank you for being my husband, even if I'm just an Omega."
Somehow, the male didn't like the tone of her words at all, it was almost as if he would lose the she-wolf after the pregnancy, but despite that, he couldn't say anything to her.
Serena seemed to shine since she found out about her pregnancy, thrilled with the news of their first puppy... And Liam just didn't dare to share his fears with her, so he could only hope that the baby wouldn't demand so much from her fragile body.
"What are you talking about, Rena? I should be the one thanking you for everything." Smiling, the man knelt beside her, calling her by the old childhood nickname that he had given her. "If it weren't for you, I don't think I would become a father any time soon as I don't even have a Mate, so thank you so much for this amazing gift."
Placing his hand over hers, he could already feel the yet subtle presence of the small life that was his child.

"OH, MY GOD! Mamacita! Where do I sign to have a man like that in my life?" Catching my off guard, Ria screamed on the other end of the phone, and I didn't have to be a genius to know that she had seen some hot man on TV while we talked.
"Really, Ria?!" Placing my phone on the coffee table on the speaker mode, I said while I felt the annoying pain on my ear, and I didn't seem to be the only one since Fluffy was lying on the floor, next to his bowl, covering his ears too.
"What? OH! I'm sorry, Jo." She soon apologized when she realized what she had just done before the noise on her side was gone, probably because she had turned off her TV. "But, I'm sure that you would have loved what I just saw too."
"Really? Why do you think so?" Without caring too much, I spoke as I stroked Fluffy's head, making him look at me with his cute blue eyes.
... Glancing at him, I didn't know how anyone could have the courage to abandon such a cute little boy as him...
"Do you remember the man I showed you before?" Reminding me that I was still talking to her, Ria's voice brought me back from my thoughts.
"Which one, Ria? The list of men you showed me before is longer than the great wall of China."
"C'mon, Jo! It's not that long." Complaining like a child, she disagreed with me before making me laugh at what she said next. "Maybe it's only as long as Route 66."
Without thinking too much, Ria always seemed to have an answer that surprised me since I met her.
"But back to what I was talking about, do you remember the CEO who is going to open a spa where you live or something that? I think his name was William." Picking my phone back, I said that I remembered while I ran my hand over Fluffy's head again, who seemed strangely interested in what my friend was saying.
... Honestly, I don't know how I didn't notice that he wasn't just a puppy...
"Well, I stopped at this show that was introducing another spa of his that was environmentally friendly or something like that, and well... If you think he already looked like a Greek God in a suit, you needed to see him with wet hair and just a towel around his most private parts." Sounding like a perverted, she spoke while she seemed to be remembering the man's body.
... And somehow, it didn't feel right for me, but I couldn't understand why as she was always like that...
"So, I'm sorry. But the view was just so amazing that I could hold myself back, and I'm sure that you would love it too, Jordan." Mentioning that again, she was trying to say that I would have the same reaction as she had if I saw the man's naked body.
... But I couldn't deny that it should have been a beautiful sight since even with just his suit, it was easy to see that he had a nice body, and I could only imagine how defined his muscles must be under all the fabric...
"See! I said! You're imagining him too, right?" Catching out off guard, she said while I couldn't believe that I was actually doing that.
"No, I'm not!" The tone of my voice sounded higher than usual as I denied her while Fluffy whined again beside me, putting his paw over my knee.
"Riiiggghhhtttt, if you want to believe in that." Laughing on the other end of the line, she didn't seem to believe in my words at all. "But, I must remind you, Jordan, that I can perfectly hear the sound of your saliva dropping as you thought about it."
Unconsciously, I ran my hand over my mouth, trying to clean my face and sure enough, she should have heard all the noise I made with my clumsy action when she started to laugh.
"See, I was right, after all, you were thinking about him." She mentioned it as if she had won some major prize when Fluffy went back to the floor, looking at his bowl before looking back to me.
"More five minutes, ok, buddy?" I promise him, thinking of ending my talk with Ria soon so we can have dinner.
... However, what I had just said to him, seemed to have made my friend remember something that she wanted to tell me...
"Jo, are you-" But even before she could share her thoughts with me, Fluffy came running into the living room, and in his mouth was the new shirt that my mother had sent me a few days ago.
"FLUFFY! Give me that, this is not something you can use to play with!" Forgetting that anyone could hear us, I went after him, dropping my phone on the couch without thinking about end the call. "Good boy... Please, give me that."
Getting closer to him when he suddenly stopped to look back to me, I could swear that I had seen a smirk on his face, making his blue eyes no longer look cute and innocent to me before he started running around the apartment again.
"FLUFFY!" And so it took me almost an hour before I managed to catch him, leaving me completely tired and out of breath. "Oh, heaven! How can a little guy like you can have so much energy?"
Rhetorically I asked him, returning to the living room, seeing just then that I hadn't ended my call.
"... Ria? Are you still there?"
"Did you finally catch him?" And so she asked me back while she was eating noodles or something like that, based on the noises that she was doing on the other side. "Do you know, maybe you should take him for a walk or a dog park in your free time?"
"Yeah... Maybe I'll do that after dinner." Sitting on the couch, I couldn't think it would be possible after all the running I did around the apartment. "By the way, I'm sorry that I kept you waiting until now. So, what did you want to talk about?"
"... No, don't worry about it. It wasn't anything important, so we can talk about it later as you should go eat your dinner now before Fluffy tries to get your attention again." Reluctantly she spoke before we said goodbye, and she mentioned that she would be here on the following weekend.
Honestly, I thought that was kind of weird since only a month had passed since her last visit, and it would always take at least a few more months before Ria come by again, however...
When my stomach started to growl, I preferred to ignore it without imagining how much my life would change after that weekend.
