Chapter Three

1813 Words
The night was restless along with my slumber; sleep did not come easy to me now. The harsh nightmares settled in, while my mind tormented by the fire. All night I trashed around in the sheets, leaving claw makes all over the headboard. I shot up in fright covered in seat and tears, my body shaking as the images played through my mind. I pulled back the covers and stepped out onto the cool wooden floor, I made my way down stairs for a glass of water. As I filled the glass I leaned against the bench top, the cold crisp liquid soothed my over heating body. "Good morning," Charles said as he walked in wearing a suit and held a briefcase in his hand. "Off to work?" I asked looking at him, he nodded and placed the brief case on the counter. "Unfortunately, I work in the city for an electronics company I'm the bosses assistant," he said smiling at me. I smiled taking down the box of rice bubbles, adding milk I moved towards the kitchen table sitting down. Esme appeared and stretched; she smiled at me and moved towards Charles wrapping her arms around him. "Well I'm off now so you girls have a good day, and I'll see you after work," he kissed Esme before walking towards me, placing a soft kiss on my fore head he moved towards the front door. "Your up early, how did you sleep?" she asked as she boiled the jug making herself a cup of coffee, and some jam toast before sitting down next to me. "Good," I lied but she saw right through me and the bags under my eyes. "Now that's a lie, I heard you whimpering all night. I came in and stayed with you for a while until you stopped, I can have the pack doctor give you a prescription if you like," she said taking my hand in hers and I shook my head. "You know how I am with pills, I never take them because they just delay everything. I should calm down soon," I smiled and ate my breakfast. "Charles loves that your with us, he meet you when you were a baby you wouldn't remember. You'd always cling to him, made your father jealous. In a funny way, Charles has a soft spot for you like a daughter," she said and I smiled. "He seems like and amazing man, have you thought of having children?" I asked and she sipped her coffee. "All the time, Charles wants boys and I want girls but what ever we are blessed with is fine by us. Some day soon hopefully, they'd have you wrapped around their fingers. Auntie Freya," she smiled and I awed. "Ok so, after this I want you to go get ready so we can go out. I want to show you around and your new school so put on something nice," she said as we got up and washed our dishes before heading upstairs. I walked to my closet and pulled out some blue jeans, a white top, a cream coloured jacket and some combat boots. I changed my sports bra and underwear for some white plain ones and slipped on the clothes. I move to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, the bags under my eyes made me look like I had not slept for days. I washed my face with cold water trying to wash away the result left by the nightmares, seeing as I would need a little bit more than cold water I moved to the makeup. I covered the bags with concealer setting that with powder, I added a little mascara and lip balm. Seeing as I looked better than before I left my face as it is, Esme was in the shower so I went to the music room and played the piano while I waited. Letting my fingers glide across the keys like my mother had, I closed my eyes and listened to the music. My mother had played many songs but the one I would always ask for was this one, she'd sing to us every night. "Dancing bears, Painted wings, Things I almost remember. And a song someone sings once upon a December." Letting the keys drag out I finished the song and sighed, I got up sensing Esme at the door. "You and your mother are beautiful players and singer, come on let’s go," she said smiling at me. I got up and followed her out the door; we got into the car and drove into the town. We passed a beautiful open orchid, the smell of crisp sweet apples made me smile. The outskirts of New York where Esme lived was so enchanting, the entire area was covered in green. After twenty minutes of driving we reached the shopping centre, parking we got out and walked inside. "We need to stock up on school supplies, after that we get to do some real shopping,” she squealed dragging me to the nearest trolley. We walked around picking things we needed, we got to target and went to the stationary section and placed the supplies in the trolley. "Ok pink, purple or blue?" she said holding up different exercise books. "Blue," I said she picked up three blue and one purple. "Girls need different colours ok, go get pens, pencils and all those things. I’m going to go find you the coolest pencil case I can find," she said as she turned and wheeled away. I smiled and continued to fill the basket I had, as I shopped I wasn’t looking where I was going and bumped into someone. A boy who looked my age stood in front of me, his hair a golden blonde, he had deep brown eyes that twinkled through his glasses. He wore black jeans, a top that said I love New York and a checker jacket. “I’m sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going,” I said smiling politely. “Its okay, I haven’t seen you around here. Small town everybody knows everybody, but you,” he said and I froze but kept my smile intact. This was my first outing in the area and he’s the first person I’m meeting, so I had to be careful with what I say. “I just moved here, I don’t really know anyone besides Esme and Charles so,” I said and continued to smile. "What’s your name?" he asked smiling at me. "Frey Lewis,” I said and held out my hand for him to shake, I smiled and reached out. "I’m Liam you have a pretty name, hey do you go to school here?" he asked I nodded. "I’m starting on Monday, first time I’m going to be in a school with other people. I’ve been home schooled my entire life, its exciting," I said. “Well that’s cool, a home schooled werewolf that’s new. We usually very social beings so that’s cool, I don’t want to be to forward but umm.” I waited for him to go on but he looked so nervous. "I just wondered if you wanted to be you know friends, I can show you around the area and school some time. You don’t have to, I mean who would want to hang out with the loser of the school," he said looking at the floor. How can someone so nice have no friends, he was so gentle and kind. I have only known him for five minutes but I liked talking to him, I smiled and looked at him. "Sure id love to, it would be nice to know at least one person from school. I wont have to do it alone,” I said smiling at him. He lifted his head and his face lit up like Christmas. "Great here’s my number call me when ever, I can be your ride to school and stuff like that so, yeah well ill see you later Frey," he said as he waved and walked away. "First day and you have already made a new friend and a hot one to, so what’s his name?" Esme said as she walked up to me wriggling her eyebrows making me laugh. "His names Liam and what about Charles?" I said smiling at her. "I’m aloud to look at other boys. What Charles doesn’t know won’t hurt him," she said smirking and I put the stuff in the trolley. “He still doesn’t know about Charlie Hunnam,” she winked and my mouth dropped. “You met Charlie Hunnam?” I asked in disbelief. “In my dreams,” she winked and I laughed before following her to the counter. Before I could pay for everything Esme swiped her credit card. "Ok now to the electronics store you need a laptop and a phone, if you want to call that hot friend of yours," she said as she smirked. "I’m paying for those then," I said but she shook her head. "No you are not Charles told me that you are not to pay for anything today, so I’m spoiling you. Don’t worry; we make enough money to fuel an army. I’m aloud to spoil you if I want, take it as your birthday gift," she said as she flipped her hair and walked towards the shop. We brought the laptop and phone before we decided we were having lunch, we walked to the food court and ordered burger king. We sat and ate, listening to the sounds of the shopping mall. To others it was normal coming to these places, for me it was a first. I never went out or had friends to go out with like my brother, I’d watch from the window, as he’d walk out of the house with his group of friends. I’d smile down at him as they acted like teenage boys who just wanted to have fun, my parents kept me isolated from that life. I didn’t understand why they did, I still don’t. I guess I’m just happy now that I have a freedom, but I would never down them for anything they did. Because it kept me safe, from what I don’t know. "Thank you Esme, for everything," I said smiling at her. She looked up from her burger and smiled at me, she would never know how grateful I am. "My pleasure dear."
