Chapter Two

"Frey we're here", Esme said as she shook me softly from my slumber. I winced at every movement, my body screamed for a hot shower and rest. Charles opened my door and offered his hand that I took; I got out of the car and looked at the house. The house sat in the perfect place; I could see the bright lights of the city shimmering from afar. Isolated it was, good for when they needed to shift and close to the pack boarder. I could smell them; this was their territory after all. It was a beautiful white painted house; the roof was a dark grey and the wide-open windows good during a nice sunny day. The porch was lined with various flowers that filled my senses, the brick path leading towards the house lined with crisp green grass. Esme linked our arms and lead the way, when she unlocked the door I was embodied with light. The interior was gorgeous; it was like I was stepping in to a fairy tale. White light everywhere, the stone floors sparkled below me. The entire house was white and grey; there was a big crystal chandelier where light cascaded down. The kitchen was fit for a master chief, which Esme was. “Wow Esme, this house is gorgeous,” I said and looked around in amazement. “Thank you, designed it myself. I work from home as and interior designer so I get calls then I go out and well, design,” she smiled. "Welcome to your new home, come on I’ll show you your room," Esme said as she pulled me up the stairs. We passed three rooms, which Esme told me were the master bedroom, the office and a spare room. The one that caught my eye was and empty room with nothing but a grand piano, the light from the moon illuminating the room and jumped of the pearl keys. "I want you to feel comfortable here, help yourself to food and everything else. I saw you looking at the piano so I’ll be waiting to be serenaded, and if you need anything just ask. Our rooms down there to the left and our office is to the right, this is your new room," she said as she pushed the door open. Fairy lights and moonlight lit the room; the soft hum of the record player drew me in. The four post bed white and dressed in soft grey covers, the door to the balcony wide open letting the breeze flow through. Curtains draped from the bed, it reminded me of sleeping beauty. “Your closet and cupboards are stocked with everything a girl needs, get washed up and settled in I’m making my famous fettuccini for dinner,” she said and kissed my temple. "Thank you Esme I appreciate everything," I said as I gave her a hug. “Your Family Frey always,” she said and smiled before walking back downstairs. Making my way to the bathroom I turned on the hot water, I stripped out of my now ruined white dress and stepped in letting the water wash the ash away. I ran the shampoo through my hair, getting whatever dirt was left in it from the fire. After I had finished washing everything I just stood there, the hot water releasing my aching body. Turning off the water I got out wrapping a towel around me, I brushed my teeth and hair before walking back to my bedroom. I pulled on underwear and a sports bra, I chose a top and track pants putting them on. I looked at my hands that had now healed, the cuts and bruise had left me as well. As I made my way down stairs Esme motioned for me to sit down, I sat next to Charles who was finishing up a call. He smiled at me and filled my glass with water that I thanked him for, Esme dished out the pasta and we all dig in. My stomach growled and I froze, Esme and Charles chuckled and I smiled. “Someone’s hungry, it’s a good thing because I made so much,” she said and I ate the delicious cheesy pasta. "Tomorrow we'll go into the city and get school supplies, you start on Monday," she said as she sipped her water. “What’s it like?” I asked. “Chaos,” Charles said and Esme kicked him from under the table and he choked on his water while Esme and me giggled. “What he means to say is that is a lot like that movie the breakfast club,” she smiled and Charles glares playfully at her. “Filled with mischief and misfits, grumpy old teachers who think they stand on a platform higher than everyone,” he chuckled as Esme glared at him. I laughed and watched as Esme growled at Charles who was trying not to laugh. “Sounds amazing,” I said and smiled. “I’ve been home schooled my entire life, it will be nice to do something different,” I said and finished my dinner before taking my plate up helping Esme with the dishes. Esme snatched the towel away for me and threw it at Charles. “Don’t worry about this you go rest, Charles will do these. We are hosting dinner here in a few days with the Alpha and Luna of our pack, they are eager to meet you. They don’t know who you really are; all they know is that you are a close family friend who has come to live with us. These are for when we go out or when your at school, your eyes are a dead give away for the royal family,” she said as she gave me a container with contacts. "Well I pretty tired, I’m going to bed ill see you in the morning,” I said and Esme wrapped her arms around me. I said goodnight to Charles before heading upstairs, I closed the door behind me as I entered my room, I walked over to the balcony doors and closed them. Pulling back the covers of the bed I slipped under them. I opened the locket and ran my fingers over the picture on my family, I smiled and kissed it. "I love you," I said to myself. 'I miss them,' Alex whimpered. Alex was my wolf; she came to me when I turned sixteen. I had my first shift that night, my mother was so proud while my father was filled with joy. Alex has guided me through my good and bad days, she loved our family and now that they were gone she’s worse than me. 'I do to Alex,' I said as I lay the locket on the side table and switched off the light. 'It hurts,' I say as tears stream down my face. 'I know but we have to be strong and move on that’s what they would of wanted,' Alex said. I shut my eyes and thought about the good times, the times I had with them. ***Memory*** “Come on baby girl you can do it! I know you can!” mother shouted as she watched me and Devon race each other around the house. “Yes! I win you lose Dev!” I said jumping up and down. “I let you win,” he groaned trying to catch his breath. “No I won you just don’t want to admit you lost to an eight year old,” I said poking my tongue out at him. “Fine one more race, who ever gets to mums garden first wins… GO!” he said as we took off sprinting. I saw him pass me, as the garden came into view I ran faster passing him and winning once again. ''I win again!” I cheered clapping my hands and smiling. “That was such a good race baby girl,” dad said as him and mum walked up to us. I ran and jumped into his arms wrapping my arms around his neck. “Did you see me daddy I was running so fast,” I said as I smiled at him. “I sure did,” he said kissing my head. Mom walked over with Devon in her arms, he pouted and didn’t make eye contact with me. But smiled as mom kissed his cheek, we all hugged and wrestled each other before lying there on the green grass. “I love you all so much,” I said as I curled up to my dad’s side. “We love you to baby girl.”
