Chapter 25: Battle for Heaven’s Gate Harbour

Things were going as well as could be expected. In 10 mins Jamie’s Earth Element had created spikes of rock in the ocean. This was to stop the ships from landing and maybe even sink some. Water had been busy building a glacial ice wall to act as shield for the town.  Air was helping guiding people and her Fire Fairy was helping to make Dragon’s Doom.

Jamie sucked her teeth, there was still one thing that she needed to know.

“You are right we need to know how screwed we really are!” Vanth mind linked.

“You have a happy nature Vanth. But you have a point, we need to know how many ships are out there” Jamie said.

“But how sweetheart? The fog is masking sight, sound and scent!” Amaethon mind linked

Jamie thought for a moment, and then an idea suddenly came to her - well two actually! 

“Amaethon, I need you to guide me to the waters edge” Jamie mind-linked. In an instant Jamie felt the body of a large dog next to her. With Amaethon’s help she managed to get down to the docks edge. 

“Is it clear?” Jamie said asked.

“Yes” Amaethon said and Jamie dived into the water. There was a moment of peace as she felt the water flow over her and she promised herself that if she ever got out of this, she would visit the Merpeople again soon. Jamie opened her mind’s eye and saw all the threads that surrounded her. Quickly she willed the blue threads into a ball. She released it with some force, and in an instant she saw the whole of harbour in her mind. The wave went further out and Jamie could see the spikes that Earth had made.

“Ohh the tickles” Earth said as he felt the wave. Jamie smiled, as the wave continued it reached the fog cloud. As predicted the ships lit up as the wave hit them.

“s**t” Vanth mind linked

Jamie did it again to check the number, she counted over a 100 ships! Jamie cursed, that was much more then she anticipated. Most of Thule’s Navy and some mercenaries had come to destroy the harbour and stop any supplies reaching the troops in the mountains.

“What the chaos am I going to do?” Jamie mindlinked. She had no allies and no help was coming! Soon they would be here and Jamie was unsure how long she could hold them off for.

“Do not worry Moon child, I will sort out the ships for you!” A voice boomed 

“ Kraken? Is that you? How can you hear me?” Jamie Mind linked. The Kraken was over a 100 leagues away!

“Magic amplifies your magic, especially when you are distressed! I told you our fates are intwined” The Kraken boomed

Jamie closed her eyes and mind-linked  “I....I can’t let you help, you could get hurt!”

“Really? The creature is offering to help and you are turning him down!” Vanth scolded

“This is a human war, not the creatures who live here! They are innocent!” Jamie mind-linked furiously.

“Wrong! If chaos wins the war all animals and life will be consumed. They have as much right to defend their home as any human!”Vanth snapped.

Jamie heard the Kraken roar with laughter in her mind before saying “Moon Child, I am no longer a little squib! I have been destroying ships for the last two Millennia. I will be fine Moon child, you just need to survive until I get there!”

“But you are so far away, it even took the sea mares a few hours to get here!” Jamie argued. She was trying to ignore the flame of hope that was igniting in her heart.

“You are comparing me to sea mares? Leave it to me!” Kraken said Incredulously.

“OK, just get here soon please, I don’t know how long I can hold them!” Jamie said as she swam up to the surface. The air felt nice in her lungs and she felt Amaethon by her.

“I hate getting wet!” He grumbled as he guided her to harbour side. 

“I am guessing you all heard?” Jamie mind linked her guardians.

“Yes, are you out of the water?” Fluff asked and Jamie said yes.

 With the help of the Fluff and the soldiers, Fire Fairy was helping flood the dock with Dragon’s Doom. Dragon’s doom was a magical substance, which was highly flammable and stuck to any surface. Jamie prayed to the Goddess that she would not have to use it, but it was the last line of defence.

Jamie felt a warming breeze as he elements dried her and she thanked her. Amaethon guided her back to the centre of the Harbour, the wall was high enough to see everything through her minds eye. She sat down in the lotus position and took a few deep breaths. All she could do was wait.

“My Lord Commander, our war Mages have sensed a strong magical force in the harbour” A solider said rushing into the war room.

“Oh? This is not to be unexpected, the King is wise enough to leave some War Mages behind” Raoul said.

“My Lord, they say it is Elemental magic, but it was not like anything they ever experienced!” The solider said. 

This made Raoul  stop and look up “Elemental Magic you say?” He asked.

“Yes my Lord Commander!” the Solider confirmed.

Raoul got up from his desk and went to the scrying pool. He called upon his magic and the pool shimmer before showing a birds eye view of the Harbour. Raoul quickly scanned the area and saw The large ice wall and sea spikes. There was no elemental user that was powerful enough to do that, apart from one!

“It is her!” Raoul said happily. This was going better then he dared hope, his little Kitten was there and seemingly unprotected. What a fool her mates were! He expected so much more from them!

“Attack, attack now with everything we have got!” Raoul commanded with a smile.

“The area is been spied on magically” Vanth Mind-linked 

“No panic, the Crone’s eye will protect me. Still can you block it ?” Jamie said

“No, the source is too far away” Vanth said.

Jamie was about to reply when she heard a wizzing sound. A large black energy ball was being catapulted over the ice wall. Jamie felt her Air Element stop the ball and send it back.

“It has begun” Fluff said as many black energy balls came flying. The ice wall was hit many time but held, whilst air and Earth stopped rebounded some  back. This continued for a few minutes, but Jamie knew this could not continue. A few energy balls got through causing explosions and her Water Dragon worked with air to put it out.

“Fire...create protective dome and air, show me what you have got!” Jamie said. Suddenly a pillar of fire flew into the sky and it grew into a red fired dome. Air in lightning bird form screeched as she took off into the sky. She flew high over the fog cloud and started to grow whilst she flapped her wings. Black clouds started to form as the sky filled with lightning. The wind pick up dramatically as she flapped her wings faster, it was clear she was forming a hurricane.

“Let’s see how the can deal with a little hurricane” Jamie said.

“Nice, but the dome won’t last forever ” Vanth said as the black energy balls continue to pound the dome.

“Hopefully, long enough!” Jamie said hopefully.

She did not sense a portal being opened on the other side of town, nor the Thule war Mages stepping through.

“With all due respect your Highness, where the f**k is our ward? Do you have any idea what could happen if her mates find out she is missing ?” Lux roared. He was fed up, this meeting had gone on for hours and he was certain the Queen knew something 

“How dare you speak to our Queen that way!” Hagan roared calling his element. Gaia put her hand up and calmed the situation down.

“I am afraid I cannot help you, my allegiance is with the Moon Child. All I say is that she will be at the centre of the storm where ever she is. This is my last word on the matter and you are free to go” Queen Gaia said with a sigh. She was strictly forbidden to say anything by her Goddess.

Just then Arnav Wavewalker rushed in and bowed.

“What is it Arnav?” Gaia asked

“It is the sea your Highness! It ...it has disappeared!” Arnav said panicked

“What!?!” Queen Gaia said astonished. The Queen got up and rushed to the front of her Palace with the rest of her court. Once outside, everyone one can see that what Arnav said was true - there was only sea beds as far as the eye could see. What’s more there was a massive squawking from the sea birds that were coming in land.

“Sea birds only come inland for one reason” Dion said

“Yes, normally when there is a hurricane” Arnav confirmed.

“That does not explain the missing sea!” Hagan said

“Oh that one is easy” Gaia said and everyone looked at her before she said “The Kraken has awoken and is on the move!”  

“Bet you 100 gold coins Kitten is responsible for all this” Dion said to Lux.

“You think?!” Lux said thinking of which way he would prefer Amon to kill him.
