“I don’t belive I am about to say this, but there is such a thing as working too hard” Dion said to Jamie as she collapsed on to her bed.
“I haven’t got much time here!” Jamie moaned
“Is that why you been doubling up your sessions and seeing the Queen in the evenings for private lessons? Don’t think I have not noticed” Dion said sitting down in a chair.
“I thought you be the last person to moan at me doing extra study!” Jamie said turning on to her side.
“Evading my question I see” Dion grumped
“Well I am the Trickster Queen” Jamie said with a weak smile.
“That fact I am well aware of! I suppose you are not going to tell me what is going on? Dion asked
“I am practicing my weaving, I thought you be pleased with my progress” Jamie said with a sigh. She was far too tired to play games.
“Oh I am!” Dion said genuinely. Her natural ability to weave and create spells was a joy to watch, along with her element usage. “But that does not mean I am not suspicious at this sudden due diligence to your studies” Dion said.
“I really can’t win, can I?” Jamie said falling asleep.
Lux shimmered in and put a blacket on Jamie. “Did she reveal anything?” Lux said and Dion shook his head.
“Well she is definitely up to something. I tried to question Fluff and Amaethon, but they knew nothing” Lux said
“What about Windsoul?” Dion said
“You know she does not have a cunning bone in her body” Lux said dismissively and Dion nodded.
“You get some sleep Dion, I will take the night shift” Lux said settling in a chair.
“You think something is happening in her dreams?” Dion said suddenly worried.
“No, but her dreams might give us some clues as to what she is up too. Don’t worry, I am discreet and don’t pry in her more personal dreams” Lux said.
“Good, everyone deserve some privacy. Good night” Dion said and Lux nodded. Dion shimmered away, whilst Lux closed his eyes.
“Let’s see what you are up to Princess” Lux sighed as he willed himself in the dream realm.
===========================================
Jamie was riding on Windsoul through mountain meadows in full bloom. The sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze. She kept riding until she saw something glisten in the distance.
“What is that Windsoul?” Jamie asked
“No idea! Why don’t we go and have a look?” Windsoul mindlinked and she raced off. Soon they were at the spot.
“It is a pair of gates!” Jamie said looking at the large golden gates.
“And there is a port down below, what a strange dream you are having!” Windsoul commented.
Jamie was about to say something when suddenly a thick fog came rolling in. It was a sickly yellow and it covered the whole area. There was suddenly flashes of light.
“Chaos energy balls!” Jamie said
“They must be on Thule war ships!” Windsoul said
“They are using the fog as a cover!” Jamie said. After a few moments the fog lifted and Jamie gasped at what she saw. The harbour waters were red with the blood and animals of the townsfolk. Where once there had been pretty buildings, was now ash. Jamie’s eyes filled with tears as she heard the wails of people who had discovered they just lost their loved ones.
“Oh no!” Windsoul said
“Why do I keep seeing this?” Jamie sobbed. She swore she saw bodies of children in the c*****e.
“Because you can stop it, but time is short.” Niorun said as he appeared by her.
“How short?” Jamie asked
“This is a vision of tomorrow morning” Niorun said softly.
“What? I don’t even know where this is! How am I suppose to get there in time?!?” Jamie exclaimed.
“The where is easy, it is Heaven’s Gate Harbour on the North Coast. The how is simple, you are friends with Sea Mares. If you leave now, you can stop this” Niorun said.
“You are forgetting two important things” Jamie said
“Oh?” Niorun said
“Dion and Lux, they will never let me go” Jamie said glumly.
Niorun chuckled before saying “Both are being kept occupied in this realm. Your guardians are fully aware of the situation. But YOU NEED TO GO NOW!” Niorun Ordered. With that he touched Jamie’s arm and she disappeared along with Windsoul.
“I hope you know what you are doing” Niorun said
“Feeling guilty? Don’t. The path was not set by you, but by Father Light and Mother Universe” The Crone said in Uncloaking herself.
“Then why we are involved?” Niorun Asked
“You know why, they have set the end point but not the journey. This is the only way Niorun“ The Crone Goddess said.
“Well, that remains to be seen” Niorun said as the dream scape melted away.
“In the meantime, shall we have fun with those two? You never know it might cheer you up!” The Crone said as two bubbles appeared showing Lux and Dion appeared.
Niorun Smiled before saying “You know me too well old friend”
====================================
Jamie woke up suddenly and she felt instantly aware someone was close by.
“Come child, it is time for you to go” Queen Gaia said softly.
“Your Highness?” Jamie said standing up.
Jamie felt two hands on her shoulders and a cooling sensation over body. Suddenly, Jamie heard the sea and felt a sea breeze.
“You must go Moon child, the time has come. You have learnt all you needed to here” Queen Gaia said.
“Why are you helping me?” Jamie blurted out.
“My Allegiance is to you and my elements, Moonchild” Queen Gaia said with a smile
Jamie suddenly wrapped her arms around the Queen. “Thank you so much!” She said tearfully. The Queen had been an maternal figure over the past few weeks. One that Jamie had sorely needed.
Jaime felt her face been cupped by the Queen. “Now you listen to me child, you are stronger the you think! You are the bridge between the elements and are here to bring balance between the realms. Trust your instincts Jamie, and you will not go far wrong!”
“I have learnt so much!” Jamie said softly.
“Shh child, it was in you all the time, we just gave you the push we needed. Now I have a gift for you” Queen Gaia. She touched the leather necklace that held Jamie’s Crone Eye.
“A crone eye is a precious gift, you have only started to understand it’s power” The Queen said as she held the black stone. Jamie knew this was true, she knew it could memories and could cloak her, but she did not know much else.
“You will understand it’s powers in time, but until then it should be hung on something more secure” Queen Gaia said. Jamie felt a cool breeze round her neck and felt a metal chain round her neck. Jamie felt it and she could feel a twisted chain that had her Crone’s eye and the wooden heart her mortal adoptive parents had given her.
“It feel beautiful. Thank you so much!” Jamie said
“It is cloud metal, it is light, unbreakable and will help channel your magical power” Queen Gaia said.
“Thank you and I am sorry for Lux and Dion in advance” Jamie said as she called Mare Nubium. Mare Nubium trotted up on to the beach and nuzzled Jamie’s arm. The Queen pulled couple of sugar cubes out from her dress and fed the Mare.
“We are more then capable dealing with them. Now go!” Queen Gaia ordered.
Jamie nodded and she jumped in the Mare.
“Will you stand with Riverswell and King Stephan?” Jamie suddenly asked
The Queen smiled and said “Zuy will stand with you on the battle field Moon Child!”
Jamie nodded and Mare Nubium raced over the sea towards Riverswell.
The Queen watched the Sea Mare gallop into the distance before saying “Hagan?”
“Yes my Queen?” Hagan said comming out of the shadows.
“Prepare our forces, we are going to war. It is time we remind some realms why is Zuy is feared and that we don’t tolerate aggressive action on our allies” The Queen said
“May I say, it is about time?” Hagan said with a smile.
“There are rarely any winners when it comes to war, you will do well to remember that Hagan” Queen Gaia said Hauntingly.
“Of course” Hagan said bowing.
“Make sure you prepare the Royal Guards for tomorrow, I have a feeling that our guests are not going to be happy when they find out their ward has gone” Queen Gaia said
“Consider it done” Hagan said as he teleported himself to the guard house.
Queen Gaia sighed and she suddenly felt a breeze swirl around her and the scent of cherry blossoms filled her nose. Gaia knew it was a sign of her air Goddess was pleased with her.
“Just make sure you look after her please” Queen Gaia murmured.
