Scarlett's POV (edited)
"Is everything okay?" I asked Jacob. He was looking at me with blank eyes.
"Yes everything is fine. Scarlett you will join the training in 2 hours with all the pack's warriors okay?" He looked at me waiting for my response.
"Yeah okay." I replied. He suddenly snaked his hand around my waist and our noses touched while he looked into my eyes. Tingles shot in my whole body.
"I swear to god if you flirt with a male wolf I'm killing him even if it is my own beta." He whispered and my eyes widened.
"Really? You think so low of me." I said trying to sound confident but I was shaking inside.
"I am just warning you mate." His inhumane voice said and I knew it was his wolf.
"Okay fine." I said breathless.
He stepped back his eyes lingering on my face and I instantly blushed. He shifted into his black wolf and ran away.
"Lynn you can come out now." I said smelling my best friend's smell.
"How the hell did you know I was here?" She stomped her foot like a 5 years old.
"I am not one of the best warriors of the pack for nothing." I smirked.
"Right. Anyways. We need to talk." She said and I froze.
"Is everything okay? Are you okay?" I asked her and examined her face.
"Scarlett I am fine. Don't worry. I just need to tell you something that you have to know." She said her face serious.
"Okay speak." I urged her.
"Megan and Cole must be with us too. They need to know what I have to say." She said.
"Okay. Lead the way." I followed her.
We passed the long trees of the forest. They were tall and thick, we could barely see the sun. A warm breeze hit my face, and for the first time in a while I felt at peace.
We walked for 10 minutes in silence. Lynn seemed to be thinking about something hard. It must be about what she wanted to tell us. I hope it's nothing bad, because she seems tense.
"There is the pack house. Megan and Cole must be there since the trainings start in 2 hours." She said and accelerated her pace. It was easy for me to catch up with her.
There were warriors from all the packs roaming the territory. Some were enjoying the cool weather, others had a stone face. And I knew right away who these warriors belong to.
The Blue Moon pack obviously.
The pack house was huge. There were at least 5 stories, and I'm sure it's filled with rooms. There was a big garden in front of it. A big oak door was opened as members got in and out freely.
"Lynn are you okay? I got your message." A worried Megan exited the pack house followed by Cole.
"Scarlett? Or should I say, Luna." Megan smirked and hugged me.
"It will be always Scarlett. No formalities." I rolled my eyes.
"Come on. You are the next Luna queen. That's something big. I wonder how you are not panicking right now." Megan said.
"I don't know. I should be but I am not. I still didn't talk with Jacob properly. We need to talk we-" I was cut off by Cole.
"Great now you made her nervous." He laughed as he put his hand around Megan's waist. She blushed and looked at us.
"I found my mate." Lynn blurted out and we all froze for a second. We looked at her, and both Megan and I jumped on her hugging her.
"That's awesome." I said but then I looked at her face. "Or not?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"I don't know! He's the beta." She said.
"Beta of what pack?" I questioned.
"The Blue Moon pack." She whispered and my mouth was wide opened.
"That's great. Why aren't you happy?" Megan asked her.
"I am afraid." She shrugged.
"Oh really? I'm mated to the alpha king. THE alpha king. You can't be anymore scared." I joked and she laughed.
"Maybe I shouldn't be. But there's this feeling inside of me that's making me always afraid when I look at him." She explained.
"That's okay. I felt the same way when I found out that Cole is my mate." Megan said.
"True that. But if Sebastian is good to you and accepts you then it's a good thing no?" Cole said.
"Wait Sebastian is the beta?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah." Lynn said with a smile.
"Lynn!" We all turned around to see Sebastian approaching us.
"Talk to him and don't be afraid." I told her with a smile and she nodded.
"Luna queen." He said bowing. I nodded awkwardly.
"Call me Scarlett." I smiled.
"Alpha, Luna." He said to Megan and Cole. Although Cole isn't alpha yet, but he is addressed as one.
"Lynn is all yours you can talk with her." I winked at Lynn and she shot me a glare.
"Thank you." He said and they left us.
"Well well well. If this isn't the Red Moon pack members." A voice I hate so much said from behind us. I looked at Megan and she had the same disgusted face.
"Darcy." I spat looking at our number 1 enemy.
"Scarlett." She said in the same tone.
"Watch your place Darcy." Cole said taking a threatening step towards her.
"You think I will be afraid of you Cole because you'll be the next alpha? Well guess what? I'm the Luna of the Shadow pack." She smirked.
"If you think that you are the luna of your pack then guess what? Scarlett is the next Luna queen." Darcy froze.
"What? So you are lying now?" She tried to smirk, but the smell of Jacob is all over me. She can't deny it.
"Lying? Maybe you should ask the alpha King about that." Cole said.
Suddenly, the same surge of power traveled inside our bloodies, and all the people here bowed even before Jacob was visible to us. He came walking like he owns the world. His confidence and power surrounded him and no one dares to look at him.
"What is happening here?" Even his voice was powerful.
"Nothing." I said looking at a trembling Darcy.
"Scarlett. Come with me." I instantly obeyed and followed him.
"I will announce you the Luna queen tonight be ready." He said.
"What? But I'm not ready for that." I said fear gripping my heart.
"I can't have you walking around males without being announced as my mate. You can't walk among these people and everyone can think they are above you. No one can speak to you the way that girl was speaking." He said with anger on his face.
"Calm down. I can take care of myself." I said.
"If not tonight then soon." He said with an expression that leaves no room for discussion.
I nodded hesitantly. And he sighed.
"Listen Scarlett. Bad things happen in life and I... something happened to me before that made me hate having a mate. But when I saw you everything changed. I suddenly don't want to be the monster that I am with everyone else. I don't want you to fear me." He said his eyes reflecting honesty.
"I am not afraid. I don't see you as a monster Jacob." I said truthfully.
"I will train you today personally." He smirked.
"Oh do your best." I smirked back at him.
"Go get changed. No revealing clothes." He glared at me and I smiled.
"Okay." I turned around and smirked.
Did he say no revealing clothes?
-----------------------
"What the hell are you wearing?" Jacob yelled glaring at me.
"Clothes." I shrugged.
"Scarlett." He said warningly. "Those are barely covering clothes. Shorts with a crop too are hardly called clothes." He rolled his eyes.
"This is how I like to wear while training. They are comfy." I gave him my best puppy eyes.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but fine. Let's go." He said frustrated and turned around. He started walking but he kept an eye on me.
We approached the middle of the forest, where there were at least 2 thousand of warriors. When they noticed Jacob's presence they all looked down and silence was all we could hear.
"Warriors of my kingdom's packs. Welcome to the royal trainings. Usually, I don't attend the trainings, but this year is an exception. The danger is coming. And it is coming soon. The vampires are training too and we are worried they will attack. Not to mention, we have now new species that are far more dangerous than vampires. The shapeshifters. They take the shape of someone you know, and lure you to kill you." Everyone was silent, but I could hear the rapid heartbeats.
"That's why I'll join the trainings this year. I want you to be stronger than them. I want to help you detect a shapeshifter before it could kill you. I welcome you again in the Blue Moon pack." He finished. I turned to look at him and he had a cold face. No scowl, no smile. Like he's a statue.
"Thank you alpha." Everyone said.
"Come with me Scarlett." Jacob said and I followed.
We joined the others as they were separated into groups.
"You will train with me. You won't join a group." I nodded.
"Let's begin then." I smirked.
"First I need to see how fast you can run."
"That's the easiest part." I said and started running.
I was known for my speed. No one in my pack could outrun me. I ran around the forest and came back to Jacob.
"That's impressive." He said with surprise clear on his face.
"Thank you. You haven't seen anything yet." I smirked.
"Oh I will see lots of things now then." He winked.
Challenge is on.
