**This is happening at the same time as Jessica is fighting the rogues**
****Ivan’s POV***
Something isn’t adding up. I haven’t heard from my wyvern in months. It’s like every single time we mate, I feel my wyvern less and less. Something in my subconscious is telling me that it has something to do with Jessica. I was lying in bed when my wyvern, Devin, spoke to me abruptly.
“That’s not the real Jessica! You’re being deceived. For the love of all things good and holy, OPEN YOUR EYES.” Just as quickly as he appeared, he was gone. Just then, the person I believe to be Jessica walked into the room holding a bowl of food.
“Hey babe, I made you something to eat.” She smiled at me, but this time, I noticed that the smile didn’t reach her eyes. For some reason, that made me suspicious of her. Instantly, Devin’s words rang in my head. For a moment, all I could hear was him telling me not to trust her and that she wasn’t the real Jessica. He has never led me down the wrong path, so I was inclined to believe what he said.
“No, thank you, I’m actually not that hungry right now.” It was really a lie because I was starving. Silently, I prayed to the moon goddess for my stomach not to growl at that moment. I could tell that she was unhappy that I didn’t want to eat whatever it was that she cooked but that she didn’t want to force it on me. I’m not sure if that’s Jessica being understanding or what, but I have a feeling that it’s not. Out of nowhere, I became overwhelmingly tired, to the point that I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Before my eyes snapped shut, I saw my ex, Katie, which sent a chill not just down my spine but through my entire body. I had some sort of vision like That’s So Raven. In it, I saw Katie mixing some type of purple powder into my food. It was so surreal. I’d never had an experience like this. Suddenly, I heard her aggressively throwing away the food she made. Everything she had done in the past flew through my mind like a movie on fast-forward. This crazy b*tch has been drugging me! Where’s Detective Benson when you need her? Okay, note to self, don’t eat her cooking, sh*t I’m about to go on a damn hunger strike. Everyone who knows me knows I’m a f*cking foodie.
“Ivan baby, since you’re not hungry, why don’t we work up an appetite?” She purred at me like a kitten getting belly rubs from its owner. I almost wanted to throw up. If it was Jessica who had said this to me, I wouldn’t have let her finish the sentence before my lips were practically glued to hers. The moon goddess herself would have to come down and pry my mouth from hers.
“I’m sorry, baby girl, but Blaze, my wyvern, wants to get out for a little bit. You understand what it’s like when your lycan wants to go out for a run?” At that moment, I knew I had her stuck. Witches don’t know what it feels like when our beasts are restless. For a moment, she looked lost, like she was looking for Waldo. Before she could reply, I got up and started heading for the door.
“Wait!” She grabbed onto me with strength I never knew she had. I practically gave myself whiplash with how fast I turned my head toward her. My instinct was to swing, but all I saw was Jessica’s face.
“Snap out of it, you fool! You know that’s not Jessica!” Blaze practically deafened me with how loud he roared. Without second-guessing myself, I stiff armed the f*ck out of her and made a run for the door. As soon as I was out of the door, Blaze took over, and we were in the air.
***Blaze’s POV***
It’s about f*cking time Ivan has given me control. It has been years since he’s given me free reigns! The last time he did, I almost burned an entire town to the ground, but that other wyvern started it. He threatened me, so I threatened his bloodline. It’s not my fault that his bloodline involved some wolves and humans. Okay, maybe I might be mildly unhinged at times. But it’s only when the situation deems it necessary, at least to me. I had to stay focused on my mission: getting back to my mate. It was confusing; I had no idea where Jessica was, but at the same time, it was like I was flying on autopilot. Time seemed almost nonexistent with how fast I was flying because her sexy, savory smell flooded my senses. Without thinking, I f*cking start to follow her scent like a d*mn bloodhound. Before I realize it, I’m practically doing a k******e-like nose dive. I sh*t you not. Sparks may have been building up around my snout. I silently landed and approached her with a type of elegance and silence that I never knew I had. Her eyes fell upon me when I was behind her, and they weren’t happy.
“Ivan?” She said in a gasp.
“No, it’s me, Blaze, his wyvern.” When she heard that, she scuffed and turned her back on me.
“ Of course, he won’t have the balls to face me after he has been cheating on me for months! Why does my lycan desire someone that’s a f*cking coward!” The pain and agony were so obvious a blind man could see it.
“No, you don’t understand. It wasn’t like that!” My worst fear was coming true. She had felt him sleeping with Katie, although he didn’t know it was her.
“Don’t tell me what I do or don’t understand you a*shole! You f*cking cheated on me! This is precisely why I didn’t let you mark me, because I knew you’d do some f*ck boy sh*t like that.” By the time she was finished yelling at me, tears were cascading down her face.Je devrais juste te rejeter maintenant pour m'épargner la douleur.”( I should just reject you now to save myself the pain.) She followed that up with a strong as f*ck slap to the face without retracting her claws. I don’t know when she ran away. I was too busy breaking down inside. She doesn’t know that I learned French just for her. I wanted to ask her to be with me in all ways in her native tongue. I released the loudest roar I’ve ever had and took off into the sky, flying without a destination. Her words kept ringing in my head. Words can’t describe how painful it is that she really thinks that she should reject me. Instantly, it hit me. I knew the only person who could help me. Let’s just hope she doesn’t hate me. One thing kept was strange. Her scent had changed slightly. If I was in my right mind, I would say that I heard a tiny heartbeat.
***Jessica’s POV***
The nerve of him! He dared to act like he was innocent! I don’t care what the f*ck he says. I know what I felt. I was running aimlessly until I was tackled to the ground.
“What the f*ck, Luke!” I dusted myself off while glaring at him.
“Hey, I have a proposition for you. Be my chosen mate since your mate clearly doesn’t respect your bond, and mine rejected me. Lycan pups are few and far between. I can tell that together, we can be powerful, dare I say unstoppable.” He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers while looking into my eyes. I couldn’t tell if he was being genuine, but my gut feeling told me to be cautious. However, I wasn’t sure if it was my lycan interfering.
“I don’t know Luke. I’m not sure I can trust anyone with my heart.” He smirked at me, but it was gone as fast as it appeared.
“Well, you need to make a decision since you are carrying my pup.” He sounded so smug, but at the same time, he had a look of genuine happiness on his face. Did this man just trap me with a pup?!
