Since the day he encountered William Habrock aka Billy since everyone calls him that, he sorts of became his friend. Well, Billy literally becomes everyone's friend in the whole school for a short time, they adore him so much because for his charming social skills and his good looks. Pretty much, Billy was only with him whenever they had their class together, Arthur didn't really talk too much with him, but Billy always assured him every time whenever it comes to the conversation.
Arthur just couldn't trust him fully after he saw he spoke to the ‘Jerks’ and even went to their table on recess whenever he was busy or didn't make it into the cafeteria.
Well, it's not his fault for being such friendly with them because he never talks to Billy about what they did to someone like him because he would probably think he is a loser from what he thoughts.
The bell recess rings, snapping out of his thoughts. He glances to his notes and the whiteboard that Mrs Elinor wrote on, he jolts down his pen as he writes a few words that he missed. When the room already empty and he's done, he gathers his stuff and hang his bag behind his back as he walked out of the room.
Arthur lowers his head to the ground as from the habits and brought his frame glasses up to his bridge nose as it was about to slip. He stops when he sees Billy leans against his own locker, crossing his arms and seemed in his deep thoughts. He's not usually waiting for him to get recess together.
“Um, hey?” Arthur speaks softly, glancing up to him and to the floor. Billy's height roughly only four inches taller than Arthur's, he could see Billy's face through his peripheral vision.
Billy turns as he grinned bashfully, “Hey, took you long enough,”
Arthur frowns, “What do you mean?” Billy steps aside as he let Arthur proceeds his things into his locker. Billy chuckles, “Well, I saw your classmates went out but only you,” He states.
“Oh,” He huffs, closing the locker after he put the previous books inside. “I thought you are going with--” Arthur glances up to him and the group of the popular kids walk through the lobby, they didn't even walk to Billy, but a slight greet glance to him with a smile but acknowledge Arthur’s existence. “Them,” He adds.
Billy only turns to look at him without a word, but a grin and he just walks into the canteen with Arthur is following behind. He has a smirk plasters on his uneven lips but not reaching to his eyes. “Is it wrong that I just want to hang out with you this time,” He laughs, poking Arthur's shoulder. “Like I mean, we hadn’t lunch together for a while because you were always busy with your calculus event,” Billy retorts and Arthur only hums for the response.
As they line up to get the food, Arthur notices Rosalie from afar. He smiles slightly just the way she laughs and smiles with her friends, well she is the one that he sees. “Hey, move forward dumbass,” He feels a poke at the back of his head, he didn't even look behind him but scurries behind Billy.
Billy frowns, glancing the blonde with a built figure behind Arthur and him. “You okay there, bud?” He asks towards Arthur. He only chuckles slightly and nods, unintentionally glancing back to Rosalie, he can’t help looking at his crush with all imaginary things if he had to be her side; no harms to think such, he thoughts.
“Are you coming to the party tomorrow?” He asks towards Arthur, picking up the tray.
Arthur frowns, scrunching his nose as soon he heard him. “What party?” He asks. What on earth he suddenly asked him that. Billy arches his brows slightly, “Christoff's party, he going to leave soon since he got Harvard, everyone is coming,”
“Oh,” Arthur chuckles somehow picking up the tray of salad, healthy junk food and juice box, bringing it to the counter with Billy. “I don't think they even want me to come,” He mutters quietly, taking out his money and pay to the lady so does Billy.
“What was that?” Billy asks as he heard him slightly makes Arthur startles, but he didn't answer him when Billy seems didn’t pay attention, maybe he didn’t quite hear him in the first place which pretty much he glad. Arthur brings his tray to the table around the corner and Billy put down his stuff as well, taking his seat opposite from Arthur. He didn't encourage Arthur to talk about it. “So, are you coming?”
Arthur pushes up his big frame glasses close again, “No... I guess I have to study,” He bluffs. He fed up of studying like through the weekend; the study, academics, are only his buddy for school. Billy let out of the little snort as he started to eat his pasta, “As far I know, the exams only in two months away,” Billy retorts, talking between the food in his mouth but swallowing his food down his throat.
Arthur blinks, glancing at him slightly and his mouth already sulks into a gloomy as he is gathering up pasta with his forks and shovels it into his mouth and Billy sees that expression quickly, “No offence, bud. It just you can't with the books all the time. Free a little bit, it does not harm for that,” He adds with his thick brows furrow.
That's not the reason tho, Arthur thoughts he was not fit in the social circle. Plus, if ever he going to the party, it was the end of the world. “You don't understand, Billy--”
He sighs but when he is looking up to see Rosalie walks by to the vending machine near them. He couldn't take his eyes off her, Billy notices his looking hypnotized when he stares Rosalie takes her soda can and walked away but glances at Billy way with a greeting smile, "Hey, there Billy," which Billy gladly greets her back. However, Arthur already tightens his smile like an i***t, thinking she was smiling at him. Haha. It does not harm to think that way, does it?
Billy gives him a cheesy smile, “Rosalie is coming to the party as well,”
Arthur startles as his face already turned crimson against his will. He tries to cover his red cheeks but no avail, Billy has seen him. “So what? I-it's not l-like that I-I like her,” Arthur stutters hard makes him laugh.
“Stop pretending, lover boy,” Billy teases, “I see you the way you look at her. The love is something you can't deny since the first sight,” He observes, causing Arthur to scowl.
“What are you trying to be? A philosopher?” Arthur asks sarcastically and he shrinks in his seat as he just stares down instead of go for another intake of pasta, with his expression soon turned serious, a heavy sigh leaving his plump lips. “She never going to notice this i***t, looking nerd anyway,” He blurts out, locking gazes with Billy’s pale jade eyes.
Somehow, Billy scoffs, "It's the 21st century no one cares about the look, " He ponders.
"Oh really? Welcome to Burgess High School, once you asked about the nerds like me to someone's here, you will realize that you're born in the wrong generation. They do care, " Arthur scoffs, shaking his head frustratingly. "That was the reason I can't go that damn party. I'm loser," He tells Billy, his low and thick with emotion.
Billy's face hold an expression of confusion before his eyebrows turn lessen with his eyes soften when it dawned upon him. A look? Well, he never thought the look was the only spotlight.
No wonder he always heard, Haynes and his friends always insult the other people with a geek looks especially someone in a type like Arthur. Peter always talked about how i***t Arthur looks with his ridiculous spectacle on and gelled his hair. He thoughts they were joking around and now he gets it. “It doesn’t mean that you are loser, it based on you, they would love you if they know you enough,” He says softly, Arthur continues to look down at his folded arms.
“But I know what you need, man,” Billy offers a grin to try light up the mood, leaning forward to put his hand on Arthur’s shoulder, squeezing it slightly but Arthur frowns, slowly looking at him. “You are going to the f*****g party and get your girl ass,”
