Aspen POV
"You don't want to offend me Aspen, you know what I am capable of! You know that I can always tell the alpha….
"That was then, when you were still his f**k toy but now he has his horrible choosen mate beside him and believe me when I say that he's going to do nothing to me!" I muttered with fake confidence oozing in my voice. Of course I knew too well that Blake is up to no good and he could decide to throw me into the silver cage if he wants but I still said it anyways.
The whole room felt silent and Chloe stood there awe stricken by my confidence. She stood rigid for a few seconds before finally retreating back to her bed. I slowly went to my own bed and soon after the light went off and darkness hit me staring right into my face.
"Now we can finally have a few thoughts ourselves!" My subconscious whispered and I couldn't agree any less. My dark mind drifted back to the earlier actions and I felt a deep pang of pain on my chest. It felt like someone was playing the repeat button consistently in my head and I could feel my head wallowing in the darkness. I could feel Eva turning and tossing above me and I knew at once that she had difficulty in falling asleep.
Soon my body felt weak and I struggled to keep my eyes open.

"Hey you come here!" Samantha hollered and I held my breath.
"Not today," I sighed as I slowly turned around to see her standing with a thick scowl on her face.
"Head over to Beta Layla's room and get the entire room slate clean." She instructed and I quickly nodded. I approached her room reluctantly internally praying that she wasn't with Blake or I would break down. I hear her voice, loud and upset. It sounded as if she was arguing with someone and that person was Stella, her very own mother.
"You can't chase two diamonds in one hand Layla! You will end up ruining one! Stick with Blake, that was the very plan in the beginning." Stella shouted out.
"That was until the IRIDESCENT WOLFE BALL mother! You of all people know how long I have been dreaming of attending the ball. Every she wolf is literally dreaming to attend the ball! This is a lifetime opportunity and I can't let this slip out of my fingers!" She vented with annoyance and frustration oozing out of her voice.
"No Layla, I am not supporting any of this! Do you know how dangerous it is and how many dangerous tasks you will have to fulfill? I am never letting you do that! Never!" Stella argued further. I couldn't stop the smirk that formed on my lips at her frustrations.
For a strange reason I felt relieved. It felt like seeing her this frustrated had eased a great part of my burden. I perched closer to the door and strained my ears with so much concentration. At this point, if someone were to come and knock me off my current position, I would be tumbling on the floor.
"Mother, don't you understand me? I want to attend the ball! I want to apply for the position of the future Luna of the entire kingdom. Do you think staying in the pack here with Blake will guarantee me that? Of course not!"
"But you will still be the respected Luna of the Raven moon pack Layla. You don't even know if you will get chosen by the alpha king! This is such a big risk and I don't want you to take that!" She enunciated every word. Even though I wasn't standing right inside of the room. I could only imagine the frustrated look on her face and that amused me to a great extent. I could hear footsteps and I knew at once that one of them was pacing restlessly.
"Why would I want to become the Luna of this filthy pack when I could become the Luna of the entire kingdom!"
"Did you just call this pack Filthy? Goodness gracious I thought you love Blake and this pack!" She confronted her and I couldn't help but strain my ears and wait for her answers.
"Are you kidding me mother? I only love what's best for me!" She said nonchalantly and I swear I had used all my energy to stop myself from bursting into laughter. Those losers truly deserved each other! I wonder what their pup will look like.
I cleared my throat and decided that it was time to knock which I did and neither of them didn't seemed to be happy about that.
"Now what?" Layla hollered and that made her look funny and ridiculous.
"I came here to clean up the whole room, Beta Layla!" I bowed with fake submission.
All of a sudden, Stella started sniffing the air around us and the next second, she had grabbed my cheeks with her claws and my skin was beginning to turn red. She was hurting me with her terrible sharp claws.
"Mom, why are you doing…." Layla asked but she was caught off. Of course she wasn't asking out of concern for me. She was asking because she didn't understand why her very own mother was wasting her breath on me.
How long have you been standing out there and eavesdropping on us?! She demanded and I couldn't help but gulp down nervously.
"What do you mean Beta Stella?" I feigned Innocence as I completely stared at her directly in her eyes.
"I am asking you about how long you have been eavesdropping on us. Your scent is very strong just outside the door!" She clarified but I wouldn't dare to confess to that.
"I had done nothing of such Beta? Besides, why are you scared like a frightened chicken over nothing?" I asked and she stared at me with shock.
"Did you just say that to my mom!" She hollered whilst charging towards me.
"I sure did…worry not even if I was eavesdropping on you guys..I can't tell anyone. No one believes a wolfless filthy wolf right?" I continued and she slowly let go of my chin.
"Layla, meet me downstairs!" She ordered her before sashaying out of the room.
"You better make this cleaning snappy. Because I don't want your filthy scent all over the room!" She glared at me before following her mother's suit.
