Theora wasn't the type to give up without a fight, but at that moment, Quil's expression was the saddest she had ever seen, and she just didn't feel like fighting anymore. She just gave her godmother a quiet nod, and Quil looked a bit relieved. She ruffled Theora's blonde curls as usual, but Theora could tell the usual playfulness in that gesture was missing. Quil was putting on a brave front for Theora's sake, and it made Theo decide that this time, she would save her questions and spare her godmother. She walked past Quil, and after double-checking around the house for anything she could have forgotten, she grabbed Augustus and his box and her book, then left with Merigold, leaving Quil there. "You shouldn't listen to grown-up conversations, Theora," Merigold sighed while they walked.
