Waking up means troubles

1660 Words
The pack doctor touches my back to examine my injuries and I tense up. I slap his hand, but the sudden movement makes me scream. I fight to keep my wolf form but it becomes harder and harder as my vision is starting the become darker and my body weaker.  "Alpha! You need to take your human form. I can't examine you like this." The doctor says frowning at the quantity of blood around us. After how white his face is I can guess I'm not far from dying. "Alex, please." Tania cries, holding my hand. Tears stream down her face. She is pretty even when she cries. The things you think about when you are dying... But what can I do? They don't understand! I can't. I'm better dead than exposed. Fortunately, I see a blanket not far from us, left behind by someone who was hoping to enjoy a pleasant day. With the last drop of power that I have left I point at it. It's torn up from the fight, but still, it would be better than nothing. Tania looks at me confused. I don't have the power to speak. "Alpha, the warrior that was injured is taken to the pack house by the other doctor." Alpha assures me, but I shake my head. "The blanket?" Tania finally figures it out and rushed to the dirty piece of material. She put it around me. "Like this?" I nod and finally let go. I am back to my human form completely. I don't even have the energy to worry anymore, I slowly fall into an exhausted sleep. When I wake up I am in my bed and outside it's black. It takes me a moment to remember what happened, but when I do, I jump out of bad. It was a terrible idea since in the moment I get in a vertical position my heads start spinning like crazy. The room feels like a carousel and I have to fight not to throw up. I fall back on my bed and I think I pass out again because I couldn't hear Tania entering the room, I can only feel her hand on my shoulder when she starts calling me. "Alex? What happened?" She seems worried and I try to say something to treasure her, but I feel my throat so dry that I can't mutter a single word. "Do you need anything? Should I call the doctor?" She asks, already rushing to the door.  I point at the water glass on my nightstand. "Oh... The doctor said you will probably wake up thirsty since you lost so much blood." She puts a hand on the back of my head and helps me get up to drink. The cooling sensation of the cold water sliding down my throat wake me up completely. "Thanks." I say and start looking around. The first thing I notice is that my hand is on fire. My back hurts too, but my right hand feels broken. I look down and I see it's clutched on the blanket. I relax and it feels like it's on fire. Tania looks at it too. "Yeah, we couldn't make you let that thing go and the doctor said he can work around it so it's probably better just to leave it like that until you wake up." I sigh in relief, if something would have happened Tania would have mentioned it already. Thanks Moon Goddess. "The injured warriors." I manage to say before getting out of breath. "They are fine. Better than you actually." She looks at me disappointed. "Are you insane, though? You shook a rouge of your back with an entire bite of flesh. The doctor said that a few inches more on the right and you would be paralyzed now. And I saw it. You did it to get to the injured werewolf. But how could you be so reckless?" She scolds me. "I am fine now." I answer closing my eyes for a moment. Being awake is too tiresome. "Fine like hell, you are barely alive." She continues, but on a softer mode, putting her small hand on my forehead to check if I'm hot. "I cleaned you the best I could with that rag around you. But do you want to change in some pajamas now? She asks. "Give me one more second." I plead, too exhausted to think about changing clothes. "Come on! I will help you out." She insists, trying to take the blanket off me. I pull it closer. "I thought you don't want to share this type of relationship." I joke, trying to distract her from the blanket with a half broken smile. "Don't be silly. I don't even like men." She answers casually, trying again to take the blanket, but she stops as she realizes what she just said. I can't help but smile, but she seems embarrassed to death. "I mean..." She tries to turn it around, but I interrupt her. "You really don't need to explain yourself in from of me. But as for the changing, I will do it myself. After all, I do like women." I say with a wink, not a single lie coming out of my mouth. She smiles back and leaves the room. "Tell me when you're done." Well, I said that I will do it alone, but on seven hells, that's hard. I am out of breath after every move I make and I have to wait a moment to be able to make another one. Something as simple as putting some pants on takes me five minutes. But that was the easy part. Now I have to put the shirt on, but rising my hands above my head is impossible After I struggle for a bit, I remember I have a shirt with buttons in my nightstand. What a blessing. I collapse in bed. Just in time, because I hear a knock on the door. "Aha." Is all I can say right now. Tania's little head pops out from the door. "Are you done?" She keeps her eyes closed. "Aha." "The pack doctor is here and wants to consult you." She says as she opens her eyes. I nod and she calls him in. "Alpha. Glad to see you are awake." He greats me and then takes a look at the injuries, changing the bandage. I have to bite my tongue not to scream from the pain of disinfectant being sprayed over the raw flesh. "It looks good. It will heal without any complication I think." "Glad to hear, but if there's nothing more, I think I will sleep some more. I feel exhausted." I say and close my eyes, waiting for him to leave. "It would be one more thing, Alpha." The doctor says and I feel like screaming. Can't it wait? "Yes." "If you wouldn't mind, Luna, can you bring some hot boiling water in here?" The doctor asks.  "Right away." Agrees Tania and rushes out of the door. "For what do you need water?" I ask. "I don't Alpha, but it would have been rude to ask Luna to wait outside as we talk." He answers, looking uneasy. Now I'm worried. "What do you have to say?" "Alpha, I don't want to insult or to question your decisions, but your medical tests are way behind and for this injury, we needed to take some blood and do extensive work because we had no data saved." He stutters. I already don't like where this conversation is heading, but I let him continue. "You are healthy, of course, nothing else to expect from our Alpha, but..." He continues to stutter and I start to lose my patience. I hate dramatical pauses and since I am an Alpha and everyone always seems so scared to say something wrong, I always get them in every conversation. "We found estrogen in your blood. Elevated levels. It's a hormone and it's natural, but...in woman's. Of course, that can have many causes, but we would like to do some extensive tests. A hormonal problem is no joke especially since it seems you are low in testosterone too." He explains. Well, yes, expected. Since I had my period two weeks ago, I am probably at ovulation, but that's not something I can explain to him. I sigh. Well, as he said, the causes can be many for this type of problem so probably me being a woman will not be the first thing he suspects now, but I need to be more careful around him from now. "Thank you for your worries, Doctor, but since it's nothing life-threatening now, we will look into it after I recover." That's a lie. We will never look into it. "Alpha, I recommend..." He starts, but I interrupt him. "Doctor, I want to sleep more than I want to hear about hormones. We will look into it after I recover." He is about to add something, but Tania enters with a pot of hot water. "Done." She says proudly. "Thank you, Luna. And I am sorry I troubled you, it turns upI don't need it anymore." The doctor says and gathers his things. "Oh, ok then.." Answers Tania, confused. "And Alpha, Try to rest as much as you can and don't force yourself." He advises as he walks out. Tania puts the pot down and comes to check me. "You look like a dead man." She comments. "I feel like one." I answer closing my eyes for the thousands time and hoping I will be finally able to get back to sleep. Being awake is only trouble. "Alpha? Can I come in?" I hear Beta's voice and I curse my fate. "Tom, tell me it can wait." I cry out loud. "Unfortunately, it can't. I have an important question for you. I noticed something when the Doctor was taking care of you at the picnic spot."  Oh, Goddess...
