Chapter 5

As Benji opened the strange door, the dazzling light welcomed them. It was so bright that it made their eyes squint. Lyn felt something strange because of the light. She remembered the moment when her barefoot stepped on the cold pathway as she opened the door of their house for the first time. After a minute of them looking at the dazzling light, the light became calm and the only thing they could see was the white tunnel. It seems like the long way inside the tunnel has so many directions and ways but it would take a lot of time to get to the end of it but it is not just a normal tunnel that everybody used to know. The tunnel looks like it is glitching and that is what Lyn noticed. “W-what is this?” said Lyn as she held Benji’s hand that was still holding her wrist so she could pull it down. Her voice echoed down the tunnel. She stepped back slowly and that made the two boys look at her confusingly. Lyn was ready to run away from them again. “We can’t leave you here,” replied Enjo to her while he was looking outside the house through the window with disgust. Lyn turned her gaze outside where she could see the trash roaming around and dried trees. She didn’t even notice it at first because she was not focusing on the bad side of it, instead she was busy appreciating her world. “This is not the world for you, bestie,” said Benji to convince Lyn to come with them. Everything slowly makes sense to her. She concluded that they were not really living here and they were not joking about it. “Tell me how can I trust both of you?” asked Lyn while looking at Benji and Enjo with her right eyebrow raising. “You two, don’t even include me in your talks, BESTIE,” she said and she emphasized the word to let Benji know that there should be no secrets if they are already best friends. Benji looked away and he was finding the right words to say. He was stuttering and that made him look suspicious. “Just tell her the truth,” said Enjo to his brother as he looked away to avoid their gazes. “I know you will not believe us,” started Benji. “Enjo can control and leap through time and I can travel without effort or should I say I can teleport.” Silence roamed around the room after Benji said it. After a few minutes, Lyn awkwardly laughed to break the silence and it echoed through the tunnel. “I may think like a 1st grader but you can’t fool me,” said Lyn in between her laughs. “Seriously, out of curiosity, we combined our strengths and that is how we made this tunnel,” said Enjo to her while starting to walk through the tunnel. Lyn’s laugh slowly faded as she started to walk with them. Her face turned serious while thinking if it was possible. She remembers when she first met Enjo and they heard a strange sound downstairs but she was pretty sure that she heard it on the right portion of the house. Then suddenly, Lyn met Enjo on the left side of the house so that is when she thought that they both have something strange and it could be possible. The moment they stepped on the glitched part of the tunnel, Lyn’s sight started to blur and she felt like everything she saw and everything she experienced were all seems like it is starting to be part of her dream because her sight is always blurry on her dreams and it is what exactly what she feels like when she is in her dream. Her legs were getting weak and her hands started to find a wall to support her body. All that she can see are those two boys walking away from her and they both looked smaller and smaller as they walked forward. “We could have gone the other way,” muttered Enjo to Benji because he is responsible for the teleportation. “There are a lot of miscalculations there,” he replied to Enjo while they were busy talking and memorizing the way. Benji and Enjo didn't notice Lyn was dizzy because they were walking straight and Lyn was behind them. They thought that everything went well but they completely forgot about her. Their voices started to fade for Lyn and she completely closed her eyes but she was still trying her best to walk and follow their voices. While her left hand is holding her eyes, her right hand is on the wall to support her body but her left leg gave up and the two boys heard it. “BESTIE,” called Benji then ran towards Lyn’s direction to help her stand up since he thought that she was still conscious. “You are so talkative, you didn’t even notice you left her,” said Enjo to him while pinching the ridges of his nose. Benji looked worried because they almost forgot about her. He remembered that they had a lot of stamina to go through the glitched part of the tunnel but Lyn doesn’t have enough of it. “Yeah but you didn’t notice her either so could you please shut up and help me,” replied Benji to what Enjo said to him while he was putting Lyn’s arms on his shoulder to help her get up. Enjo didn’t reply and he gently pulled Lyn away from him to carry her effortlessly because he knew that Lyn was unconscious. “Dumbo, she was already unconscious so she can’t walk,” said Enjo while confusingly looking at Benji. “Alright, alright,” replied Benji as he looked at his brother with annoyance. After a minute of them walking, they successfully get out of that place so Enjo slowly puts Lyn on a hospital bed. They were inside their experimental room now where those strange creatures were all in the corner with a curtain on it. There are a lot of different types of creatures on the right side of the room but they are in a small jar and their sizes vary. “Are you sure about it?” asked Benji to Enjo while looking at the creatures they made that are in the jars. “We are just going to get a little blood from her so don’t be nervous,” replied Enjo to him while he was preparing the syringe. “Tell me what’s so special about her?” asked Benji again but Enjo didn’t reply so he looked at him, ready to put the syringe on her arm.
