Chapter 4

1203 Words
The excitement is the only thing that Lyn felt after Benji said to her that they have something to show to her. Her smile went up until it reached her ear because of excitement. She even forgot to open the topic about the old door with something strange inside of the room. “What? Where exactly are we going? Right now?” asked Lyn continuously with excitement in both of her eyes. They both readied themselves and started to walk in the direction where they were going with her. Lyn looked up at them because they were taller than her. As soon as Enjo saw Lyn still sitting on the couch, he stared at her with his furrowed eyebrows. “Aren’t you going with us?” asked Enjo to Lyn because she’s still sitting and it seems like her excitement fades away easily after them saying that they were going somewhere. “She’s probably wondering why we’re heading this way,” said Benji to him but Lyn didn’t hear it because they are a little far away from her. Lyn isn’t actually wondering why they are heading away from the main door. She’s hesitating if she is going with them or not because she doesn’t even know them and they are complete strangers to her. Because of their stares, she decided to gain her strength to stand up while looking at both of them awkwardly. As soon as Enjo and Benji saw her stand up, they faced where they should be heading right now because they thought that Lyn would come with them but Lyn went in a different direction. They heard Lyn’s stomps going in their opposite direction. “Are they going to kidnap me?” she asked her doll. She quickly went outside and she hid under the bushes which is clearly obvious that Enjo and Benji would see her hiding there because the bushes are not that thick since it’s dried up. After all, no one is taking care of it now. The tip of a dried leaf touched her right arm so she flinched and she looked at it. Lyn almost threw her doll because of her sudden movement. Because of the dried leaf from the bushes, it caught her attention and that is when she wondered why it was dried up. “They are probably not the owners of this house,” she whispered as she connected all the possible reasons why they are not the real owners of this house. “How clever?” Lyn slowly turned her head and that’s when she knew that she should run away from them as fast as possible. She jumped across the bushes with dried leaves and she struggled because her dress that was above her knee was stuck on a small twig from the bushes. While she was struggling, Enjo and Benji were just weirdly looking at her because she acts like a crazy person and they didn’t even know how to deal with her. “Hey, weirdo! Where are you going?” shouted Enjo as soon as Lyn started to run as fast as she could away from them. “Go get her,” ordered Benji to his brother while laughing at her running away. Enjo didn’t reply; instead, he quickly ran faster than her to catch up. Unfortunately, he really is faster than Lyn so she was surprised because she saw him running at her side without even trying hard like her. She stopped when she noticed that she lost and she had nothing to go to. Lyn looked at him and she pouted like a child. “Don’t give me weird faces,” he said to her as he started to turn and walk back where they came from while holding Lyn’s right arm. “Don’t give me weird faces,” she mimicked him and she even pouted and tiptoed in front of him so he could see her face but he isn’t completely paying attention to her. He is just looking straight at the road but he could see her weird faces with the help of his peripheral vision. After a minute, she’s still not done making faces in front of him while walking. “Stop that or I’ll throw you there,” he said and he pointed at the river under the bridge where they are walking right now. The road of the bridge is wider than the normal ones and they literally have to go to the edge of it to see the sea under it. It is sturdy because the pillars of it are also thick. Lyn didn’t even notice that she passed this bridge because she didn’t see that there are pillars that are holding the bridge to make it stronger though there are already cracks on the road of the bridge because of some natural disasters and it’s been decades or hundred of years since they took good care of everything here. No one still knows if someone can live in this world. “What took so long for y’all to come back?” asked Benji while holding his laugh. They are now in front of the old house again where Benji was bored waiting outside because Lyn and Enjo took so long to come back. Benji opened the main door and they all went inside of it so they could go where Benji and Enjo wanted Lyn to visit. She looked bored and uninterested while walking through the hallways because she really thought that they were going somewhere outside this house to explore. Lyn rubbed both of her eyes with her hands and she was walking weirdly. After a minute of realization, she looked at both of her empty hands, and there she saw nothing. Her doll went missing which is really important to her because she couldn’t live without it. “Where is my doll?” she asked them while looking at their soul through their eyes. “I don’t know,” simply said Enjo. Enjo had no chance but to close both of his eyes firmly as soon as Lyn ran away from them again. He really looks pissed off because he can’t handle the attitude of a child. She went upstairs to look for her doll but she couldn’t see it. The dog that was chasing her when she went into this house for the first time, barked at her because she was going into those rooms without taking a break. She is slamming all the cabinets after opening them and that is what makes the dog startle. “Why are you even barging here inside of these rooms?” asked Enjo calmly while stopping himself from shouting at her because he doesn’t want to be stressed and he is trying to understand Lyn’s situation. Lyn gasped as she remembered where she left her doll. She accidentally let go of it in the middle of the street where she went through. “Oh no bestie, we don’t have time for that!” lively said Benji to Lyn as he held her hand and went to the strange door while skipping because of excitement. Benji was heading to the strange door where Lyn was supposed to open.
