When Time Doesn’t Exist

Chapter 19

It was dark and gloomy. The sun is slowly setting while the moon is ready to replace the sun on the other side. Benji’s eyes were locked in the dark corner where there are rusty bars. The inside of the prison is dark and terrifying. Enjo can see the trash and dried bones near the rusty bars but he couldn’t see something unusual so he walked closer to it. As soon as he could see what was behind the dark, he quickly grabbed the rusty bars and tried to open the gate.

They can see Lyn’s dried lips and his pale skin. She looked exhausted because of hunger. Lyn has been here in jail for a few days and they don’t even know if she is eating three times a day. While Enjo is struggling to open the gate, Benji also decided to help when he realized that he was standing there, shocked for a minute. Enjo kept blaming himself for talking to Leo because this wouldn’t happen if he minded his own business.

“Lyn, can you hear me?” asked Enjo while still struggling to open the gate.

He stood up as soon as he realized that he was not making any progress. Enjo looked for something that would help them solve the problem. Benji was getting impatient so he decided to teleport inside the jail and carried her so he could teleport her outside the jail. It was successful and easy. As soon as they were out of the jail, Enjo checked if she was still breathing and alive.

“You should have done that earlier,” said Enjo when they were already out of the jail.

“I was also shocked so I didn’t know what to do either,” he answered. “I forgot that I have an ability for a second.”

Enjo carried her and they all went to the laboratory. Benji walked first before them so he knows if they will meet Elisa on their way. They successfully went into the laboratory.

“You haven’t answered my question yet,” said Benji while looking after their creations and inventions on the shelf.

“Oh yeah, about that,” he said as he inhaled and exhaled. “I feel like something is special about her blood so I can’t still get rid of her,” he answered him.

As soon as Benji heard his answer, he looked at him with a confused look. He thought that Enjo wants to save her because of his conscience. He also felt disappointed after hearing his answer.

“Do you really care about her?” asked Enjo to break the silence between them.

He didn’t answer Enjo’s question because Benji knows that he will stick to his plan and he won’t change his plan whatever his answer is going to be.

They were both silents in the laboratory the whole time. After a few hours, Lyn woke up at last. Enjo took a bottle of warm water for her to drink because he knows that she would be thirsty as soon as she wakes up. He also prepared a healthy meal because she needs to be healthy. While Enjo is busy caring for her, Benji looked at him with a disappointed face because he looked like he genuinely cared.

“How do you feel?” asked Enjo to her while holding the bottle of water that she drank.

“I feel like I have slept for a long time,” she answered, squinting her eyes because of the brightness of the lights pointing at her.

This world is too mysterious for Lyn. She couldn’t comprehend the logic and basic things that she encountered. It is different from where she was born where there aren’t any complicated problems. Even though she already encountered and experienced how to leap through time and how to travel, she still couldn’t believe it. It feels like everything is a dream for her and every moment that she experienced a few days ago is not true.

She was busy thinking while eating the meal that Enjo cooked a while ago. The meal is also different from the ones she used to it when she was young. Everything is different.

“Is something bothering you?” he asked Lyn.

Lyn didn’t answer him instead, she stared at the food and she stopped chewing. She doesn’t know how will she ask questions and she doesn’t even know where to start. In the end, she looked at him and she started to ask questions about what is bothering her.

“Where is that dog I saw when we first met?” asked Lyn after she chews the food.

“I didn’t know you can still remember the dog,” he started. “Apparently, the dog is just an illusion,” answered Enjo.

In this world where they cannot express their feelings and emotions through art, they cannot also have fun. In this cruel world where knowledge is far more important than respect, people think of a way they can escape reality secretly. They find ways to get away from problems and responsibilities for a minute so making an illusion is just normal for them. The fact is sad but it is true.

“This will help you be stronger and it will give you enough knowledge,” said Enjo when Lyn tried to get away from the syringe.

After he said that, Lyn trusts him easily so she let him inject the syringe into her. The thing that he injected into her is Ruoculous. It is the one he invented and it is also rejected for some reasons. The reason why Enjo is still thriving is to know who copied his idea because they were the reason why Enjo’s life is not what Elisa wants. Elisa wanted him to be always at the top and to shine bright.

“Do you feel anything unusual?” he asked Lyn after he injected it into her.

She didn’t answer him again because her vision became blurry and she felt dizzy after a few minutes. The Ruoculous is too sensitive for her. Lyn was confused because she thought that it will make her stronger. She hates the feeling of dizziness because of the past that she experienced. It feels like she is going to be hurt again if she felt dizzy. After a few seconds, Lyn went back to sleep again. Enjo and Benji waited for the time she wakes up.
