When Time Doesn’t Exist

Chapter 18

The day has passed. Benji locked himself in his room yesterday until the sun rose. He hasn’t eaten dinner yet since it is included in his consequences for making a commotion with their guards. Even though the day has already passed, he is still mad and annoyed at Enjo because of his stubbornness and irresponsibility. They haven’t had a proper conversation yet so there is a huge misunderstanding between them.

“Uh hey,” called Enjo after knocking three times on his door while holding a tray full of delicious foods.

He cooked Benji’s favorite food for breakfast which is a buoyant breeze. Once again, he knocks on his door three times, hoping Benji would open the door for him and accept the breakfast that Enjo cooked for him. After a minute of silence, Enjo didn’t bother to disturb him anymore. He thought that maybe Benji needs more time and space because he is still probably mad at him.

When Enjo already accepted the fact that he is still mad at him, he sighed and started to walk away but before he could walk away any further, Benji opened the door. Enjo looked back as soon as he heard the door opened. His eyes widened like there are sparkles on them when he saw that he really opened the door for him. Of course, he immediately walks towards it. He saw him, still laying on his bed while holding his comforter.

“I cooked your favorite dish,” started Enjo as he put the tray on his side table.

It was awkward for Enjo to stay and stand on the corner so he slowly sits on the side of his bed, hoping that he won’t get mad. Benji is facing a different direction but he knows that he sat on the side of his bed. The aroma of the buoyant breeze is lingering around the room. Benji couldn’t hold to resist anymore so he turned around and sat on his bed too but he is still looking down on his comforter.

“Can we talk?” asked Enjo as he tried to look at Benji’s face.

“We are already talking,” he answered him while he is looking down.

As Benji looked in the direction where the aroma of the buoyant breeze came from, Enjo noticed him so he grabbed the tray full of delicious meals. He put it on Benji’s lap because he knows that he hadn’t eaten yet since yesterday. Benji looked at it and his eyes widened when he saw that he really cooked his favorite meal. Even though Enjo hasn’t apologized to him yet, Benji already forgave him.

“You should eat your breakfast first,” said Enjo while opening the cover of the meals.

Without hesitation, Benji grabbed the spoon to scoop on his favorite dish that Enjo cooked earlier. While he was eating, Enjo started to open up the topic about yesterday. He said sorry to him and explained what happened before the incident. He even mentioned their guard, Leo. Benji never thought about what happened yesterday after he said the reason. He was also shocked because they don’t have a guard named “Leo” as far as he knows.

After Benji was done eating, Enjo grabbed the tray and put it back on the side table. Benji thanked him and he also apologized because he scolded and shouted at him yesterday without knowing the reason behind his story. Of course, Enjo already forgave him before he already said sorry to him because he understands him and he knew that he would also be mad and it will be his first reaction if he doesn’t know the reason.

“So, what’s our plan later?” asked Benji as he stood up to stretch his body.

Benji already told him all about Lyn and their plan. He also told him how they met her and their reason why they needed her from the start and why they need her again after Lyn was put in jail. Enjo was lucky because even though he forgot the important moments in his life, he can still remember how to travel through time. They are still not sure about the reason why he lost his memories because of Leo.

As soon as they were done talking about their plan later to let Lyn out of the jail, they went to the laboratory to check their experiments as usual. It is their daily routine to check the creatures they experimented with. After that, they are going to the place where Lyn’s jail is. They planned to check the exit instead of the entrance because Enjo knows that no one is guarding that specific spot.

“Why don’t we just go back to the past to change the timeline since your memories won’t be affected?” asked Benji while they hiding in the bush.

“I already told you that going back to the past is dangerous and we can’t change the timeline as long as it is really planned,” he answered as he looked on both of his sides.

After he said that, Benji had no choice but to follow his orders. They are not going to make any commotion again like what they did yesterday since they might get caught again by Queen Elisa. The plan that they are going to do is to wait for a minute to see if someone is going to guard the exit. Even though Enjo already knows that no one will guard the exit because he saw it vacant yesterday, they still need to make sure since Queen Elisa might be strict today because of what happened yesterday.

They were both getting bored, waiting, and hiding behind the bush so they started to get up and Enjo lead the way because he knew where the location is. He hasn’t got any further away from the bush when Benji held his hand and pulled him down again. Enjo looked at him while Benji is also looking at him with his eyes wide open like he saw something unusual.

“Meow,” whispered Benji while making a hand sign to him to stay quiet.

At first, Enjo was confused but when he saw their mother through the window, walking down the aisle, his eyes immediately widened and he slowly moves closer to the wall. After a minute, Enjo checked if the coast is clear before going to the place where Lyn’s location is.

“I’m pretty sure, it’s this way,” said Enjo as he leads the way.

Enjo was looking in the other direction but when he looked at Benji. He saw his shocked face so he looked where Benji was looking.
