CHAPTER 11 Brad woke up a little before four in the morning. After spending a couple minutes in bed staring at the vaulted ceiling, he finally got out of bed. No use trying to go back to sleep when his body was still jetlagged and convinced it was time to rise. Besides, his mom would be getting up in just an hour or so, and she could use a hand with the goats. In Vermont, he was used to starting his mornings with a run on the treadmill or the elliptical in the ministry center basement. Then he’d eat breakfast with the school staff before the kids arrived for classes. The evenings were meant to be his free time, but since he hated to cook, he usually ate dinner at the boys’ home before retiring to his small studio apartment on the ministry headquarters campus.
