CHAPTER 22 “I thought she’d never stop talking. I’ll just be a minute,” Susannah panted as she raced into the women’s room. Megan stared around the bank and finally made herself comfortable in one of the oversized chairs by the door. At least the building was air conditioned. She’d left her phone in Susannah’s car and didn’t have anything to do other than wait. Wait and think. Why was Brad popping into her mind now all of a sudden? It had been years. She had moved on. Hadn’t she? Some things just weren’t meant to be. And some people could completely forget a goodbye kiss as sweet as theirs and start dating someone else … “Megan? Is that you?” She jumped to her feet, hardly able to catch her breath. What was this, then? Some kind of cosmic practical joke? “Brad?” It was really him.
