CHAPTER 21
Megan couldn’t have spent more than ten minutes so far at the farmer’s market, but she could already understand what Susannah meant when she talked about everyone in Orchard Grove knowing everybody else. Megan had lost track of how many people stopped Susannah to ask about Kitty or the pregnancy.
“Good afternoon, Susannah,” a pinch-nosed woman with gaudy rings on her fingers greeted. “Who are you here with today?”
Susannah stopped and smiled pleasantly. Megan wondered if the look was practiced or if her sister-in-law really was that kind. No wonder her brother fell in love with her.
“Hi, Mrs. Porter. This is Scott’s sister, Megan.”
The woman sniffed as she shook Megan’s hand. “Are you a missionary too by any chance?”
