“Are you sure you don’t mind staying here with Kitty all by yourself?” Susannah asked for what must have been the tenth time or more.
Scott was practically pushing her out the front door. “Yes, I’m sure. You need the fresh air and something to get your mind off everything here.”
“What about work?” she asked.
“That’s why it’s called the weekend,” Scott reminded her, then turned to Megan. “You make sure to keep her out for as long as you can, all right? And you both have your cell phones so I can be in touch if anything changes with Kitty. Now go. Have fun. Do girly stuff, treat yourselves to some ice cream, I don’t care what you do. Just leave me alone so I can have a little peace and quiet while I watch the Red Sox.”
