They all pulled themselves up leaving the house getting into the car. Stentons’ dad drove away pulling up outside where she lived. She thanked him for lunch and the lift back he said it was his pleasure.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Autumn.”
“Sure bye Jonah and thanks again Mr. Stenton.”
“My pleasure I hope you’ll come around again your good for Jonah.”
“Dad your embarrassing me.”
“Sorry, bye Autumn ”
“Bye.”
They waved as the car pulled away.
Autumn closed the door behind her. “So was that your friend?”
“Stenton yeah. His dad dropped me off.”
“So did you get your assignment finished?”
“We did. I’m just going to put my stuff away I’m meeting Con soon.”
“Okay.”
She leaped up the stairs putting her books away before leaving the house to meet Connor.
Connor stood by the bridge. “Well I’m impressed your on time.”
“I dropped my stuff off and came straight out.”
He took her hand and they walked away from the lake heading towards the park. “So how was your morning at Stenton’s?”
“Weird.”
“Oh okay.”
“His dad insisted he used my maiden name and it was rude to use a nickname.’”
“That’s his dad.”
“So you’ve met him?”
“A few times, he’s old school babe. You’ll get used to it.”
“I don’t think Stenton was comfortable with calling me Autumn instead of Red. It felt weird calling him Jonah I’m so used to Stenton.”
“I know, it was hard for all of us when we were round too. His dad don’t usually let girls in unless they’re helping him with his work.”
“I was.”
“So you were. Well your lucky not many get that honour.”
He pulled her down onto the bench. It was so quiet. “So now we’re here fancy going on the rides?”
“In a while Con.”
“Sure.”
He pleaded his arm around her pulling her close. “I’m surprised that your not with the guys.”
“No I promised you a weekend on our own, though it’s not a full weekend. I’d like to spend time alone with you like I promised. I don’t back out of my promises Autumn.”
“So they had homework?”
“We all did babe. I told them I ran out of cash.”
“And have you?”
“No. I just wanted to spend time with you alone.”
“So you lied to them?”
“There’ll be other weekends babe this one’s ours.”
“Okay.”
He kissed her forehead. They sat for a while before he dragged her onto the rides on the park spinning so-round on the roundabout, going down the slide, going on the swings and climbing frame. Both out of breath he looked at her. “I’ve enjoyed this afternoon babe.”
“Me too.”
He pulled her close. “We can do this again once all of our assignment are in and we can spend the weekend together.”
“Sure.”
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her. He moved away. “Come on babe, we can go back to mine and have a pizza and watch a film before you have to go home.”
“What about your olds Con?”
“They’re out, come on.”
“Okay.”
They walked away his arm over her shoulders.
He closed the door behind them his arm fell from around her. “Sit down babe I’ll do that pizza and get us some drinks.”
“Okay.”
She sat down as he went into the kitchen.
He placed the cut pizza down and drinks sitting next to he putting a dvd on. They ate the pizza watching the film drinking their cokes and he place his arm around her pulling her close, she lay on his chest.as they watched the film.
“Babe, babe wake up.”
“Mmm.”
“It’s almost eleven.”

“So his dad was there, bummer.”
“His dad’s okay guys.”

“He’s just a friend.”
“So, all of your friends kiss you goodbye?”
“No,”
“Well then.”
“I don’t want to argue over this, Gaz.”
“Well tell him to stop acting like he’s got one over you.”
“He hasn’t.”
“Fine, hop on.”
“I’m not in the mood.”
“Come on Autumn. I’ll take you for something to eat.”
“Fine.”
She pulled herself up on to the bike and he pulled away.
He pulled up outside the restaurant. “Come on babe.”
“I’m not dressed for this place.”
“Chill come on.”
They got off the bike and he took her hand going into the restaurant behind shown to their seats. They sat down ordering.
“Why did you bring me here?”
“I just wanted to show you that I’m not the guy that you think I am. I want to spend my money on you, treat you and make you happy.”
The waiter placed their meals down then the lemonades. “Does your mom know where you are?”
“Sort of. I called her and told her that my head was spinning and that I needed time out.”

She looked at him he placed his hand on her face. “I called in a few favours and swapped my shifts So yo have me all to your self next weekend.”
“What about the go carting track?”
“There too, good news yeah.”
“Yeah.” She replied unsure.
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her passionately. He moved away, he reminded her so much of Taylor. “You okay Autumn?”
“Yeah fine.’
“Good.” He pulled her towards him. “Its my birthday soon, and is like to spend it with you. I’d like you to spend the night with me.”
“I..I.”
He kissed her brow. “I want everything to be perfect.”

She closed the door behind her, her mother not looking not to pleased. “And when were you going to tell me?!” She said, angrily.
“Tell you what?”
“About him?”
“His name’s Gaz. And there ain’t nought to tell. He saw me at the lake and we talked that’s all.”
“So he’s not the reason that you stay out till this time?”
“No. I need to be alone mom. I don’t need the headache.”
“I just for once you wouldn’t hide it all away from me and talk to me.”
“I don’t feel like talking mom. I talk enough at school.”
“Why can’t you talk to me?”
“Because.”
She looked at Autumn.
“I’m off to bed.”
“But.”
“I have a headache.”
“You will, sitting out there till this hour.”
“Maybe, goodnight.”
“Night.” She sighed.
She slothed up the stairs to her room dropping to the bed. She had to decide whether or not this could go on with Gaz before her mom caught on and gave her the third degree.
