Chapter 7 my mate is human I screwed up

Isaiah’s P.O.V

  I sat down and began to tell my dad everything that had happened when I went to the club, from meeting my mate and hiding, right down to sleeping with Cora, then sneaking back to my room the next morning. Once I had said everything out loud I had never felt so ashamed of myself and my actions. She was my mate and I should never have done that, but she was still human, so can I accept her as my mate or is it against the rules of our kind?

  “Right, first things first, does Cora know that you two aren’t mates? Does she know that it was only s*x and nothing else?” Dad asked, but I shook my head.

  “I’m not sure, but maybe I should tell her.” I replied, unsure of what to do.

  “Yeah, you should. It doesn’t hurt to have fun, but once you start talking to your mate the fun stops with everyone else except her. That girl is your mate, so you’ve done what you have done, but that's it, and if I find out you are cheating on her then Goddess help your soul because I will kick your ass. Is that clear?” Dad said and I quickly nodded, but I was still confused.

  “Yes dad, but there is a slight problem, a minor detail I forgot to tell you about. My mate is human, is that allowed?” I asked, but my dad just started laughing.

  “Son, when Amber and Cody first met he was human, but they were mates and that was one of their many arguments because Amber was a wolf and Cody wanted to be one too. As you know it is against the council’s rules to change a human unless they are severely injured to the point of near death, but when Cody was badly injured Amber had the choice of turning him into a wolf like us and she wasted no time in doing so. Humans and supernatural creatures can be mated, there is nothing in the rules against it.” Dad replied and I breathed a sigh of relief, but then I felt guilty for what I had done.

  “Thanks dad, I guess I will go talk to Cora now, that way she will understand.” I said, getting up from my chair. I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders after talking with my dad, but now came the hard part of telling Cora it was just s*x and then explaining to the girl at the bar she was my mate and that I was a werewolf. s**t, I have just realised that I didn’t even know her name, all I knew was that she worked there and that she was the most beautiful creature I had ever met, but how was I going to explain the whole supernatural, werewolves, mates thing to her. I was going to have to speak with Amber and Cody to see how they worked things out. I left the pack house and made the short walk over to Cora’s house, although I really didn’t want to talk to her about this. She was always just too full on and way too over the top, but then she also knew how to turn a man on in the blink of an eye. I stood outside her light brown house that had a swing on the porch and a little rose garden to the side of her house and took a deep breath. I climbed the five steps up to the porch and then took another deep breath as I knocked on her front door. I heard footsteps coming to the door and I braced myself to have this conversation with her, but I was more than a little surprised to see my cousin Joseph standing there. Oh s**t, here we go, I thought to myself, but then Cora stepped out from behind him and held his hand.

  “Isaiah, I am so sorry, but we can’t see each other anymore, I found my mate. I hope you understand.” Cora said and I couldn’t help chuckling.

  “Cora, you have no idea how happy that makes me feel. I came here to tell you the exact same thing, that I found my mate last night at the club as well. I was just hoping that you didn’t think I was leading you on.” I replied, but she just waved her hand in the air and laughed.

 “Of course not, now go get your mate and bring her back here to meet us.” Cora said, but that part made me sigh a little as I had no idea how I was going to do that yet.

  “That's the hard part, you see the thing is my mate is human and I’m honestly not sure if she knows anything about the supernatural, so if she doesn't then I will need to bring her into this really slow.” I replied, but then Joseph smirked.

  “Dude, I’m going to need to go to the club with you. I’ll need to see if this girl is smart enough to stay away from my uncle. Isaiah, I’m going tomorrow night, so we can all go.

  “Just no drinking, I don’t want your sister beating me up. You two have fun, I’m heading to bed.” I replied and they both nodded. I was absolutely exhausted after shifting and all the drama and stress of having to deal with Cora, but I was so glad that it all worked out. I headed back to the pack house and went up to my room, excited about seeing my mate tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to see her smile again, I thought as I got undressed and climbed into my bed. I was so excited for tomorrow, but I was so tired as well.

  Nicole’s P.O.V

  The next morning Polly and I were outside waiting for the group of new recruits to come out and we were both wondering who was going to quit after the first day and who was going to carry on with their training, but by half past five everyone was coming out and we didn’t have to wonder anymore. Both Polly and I looked at each other in surprise as everyone from yesterday showed up and stood in front of us. I cleared my throat and looked at everyone who had come

  “Well, I’m glad that all of you decided to give this another day, but today is going to be even harder than yesterday. We have to get you stronger so that you are capable of defending this pack and it's members. If we have a war and you don’t know how to fight then you will end up dead or injured and that will be no good. Now line up, I want one hundred laps from you today, starting now. We’ll see if you want to stay after this.” I announced and watched as they all lined up then started running. Polly and I noticed that for the first thirty laps everyone jogged, then the next thirty they ran a little and some walked fast, but at the very end of the laps they all started running as fast as they could. When everyone was done they all collapsed on the ground laughing, all except Krystal, who was just sitting there. Polly was currently helping a few of the pack members with leg cramps, so I decided to go and see what was wrong with her. I walked over to her and kneeled in front of her, waving my hand in front of her face until she finally noticed me. 

  “Krystal, are you okay?” I asked and she nodded.

  “Yeah, I’m okay. My wolf broke through today and she’s been talking nonstop, she calls herself Pink.” Krystal said, making me smile widely at her.

  “Well that's good, it means you will be shifting soon. When is your birthday?” I asked, excited for her.

  “I’ll be eighteen next week.” Krystal replied as Polly came over and joined us.

  “What’s up?” Polly asked as she reached us.

  “Well, it seems Krystal here is going to be shifting next week. Her wolf Pink just broke through.” I replied and Polly smiled just as widely as I did.

  “That's great news, but Krystal, don’t take this the wrong way, honey, but we are going to be really hard on you this week now. You are going to need to build up muscle for your legs and arms, ready for when you shift and also endurance as well. Your wolf and you are both going to need it for your first shift. Okay.” Polly said and she quickly nodded.

  “Well, if we’re going to be needing it then we had best get back to it.” Krystal replied, smiling as I clapped my hands together. We stood up and walked back over to the others, who were still on the ground.

  “Alright folks, Krystal here will be shifting for the first time next week, so let's get our asses up and continue on with our training because trust me each day is only going to get tougher and tougher. Tomorrow you are going to be doing hand to hand combat, so I want to see your leg lifts, squats, push ups and sit ups. Come on, let's get started.” I announced and everyone started to groan.

  “If you don’t want to do this then you know where the bat and bell are, so just hit that and get your asses back home. Otherwise I don’t want to hear anymore f*****g groaning and moaning from now on or I’ll kick you out myself. Do I make myself clear?” Polly announced and they all quickly nodded. They all started doing what they were told, but then Polly started laughing and shaking her head. I gave her a confused look and she opened her mind to me, letting me hear as her wolf spoke to her.

  “Sorry, I got that way, but damn if they want to be fighters and warriors they have to start acting like it.” Polly’s wolf said, talking in her mind and I started to laugh.

  “You’re right, Gray, let's get this done, they only have three weeks before the graduation, so let's see who makes it.” Polly replied to her wolf and then looked at me again, shaking her head and laughing.
