Chapter 6 Polly and Nicole

1997 Words
Isaiah’s P.O.V   The next morning I woke up and everything from last night came down on me like a tonne of bricks. I remembered finding my mate and being really happy about it, but also scared at the same time when I found out she was human. I remember trying to stay away from her until I had spoken with my dad and then I remember Cora and everything that we did. s**t. I carefully and quietly got out of bed and quickly got dressed, then hurried out of Cora’s house and back to the pack house where my room was. I seriously needed a shower to get Cora’s scent off me, but I was so thankful that everyone would already be at training this morning.   Polly’s P.O.V   Nicole and I were up and getting ready to train the new recruits as we were the best fighters, thanks to our mom and dad, who trained us from an early age. Nicole and I shared everything, including playing pranks on our aunt Anna and uncle William, but after Grandma Cheyenne got hurt we all decided to get serious and train to be strong, just like her and grandpa Mercury. Our cousin Joseph decided to become a guard to protect the pack and its members, Isaiah however decided to take after his dad, grandpa Mercury and help run the pack. Gabrielle decided she wanted to become a fighter, so she trained with us weeks before the new recruits came out and she was already nearly as good as us as well. She was fast becoming one of the top fighters and soon she would join us with training the newer recruits. Nicole and I stood as Gabrielle and the other recruits all lined up in front of us, but we had already discussed that we weren’t going to go easy on them. If they wanted to be warriors and fighters then it starts now, after all if we were easy on them then they wouldn’t learn anything.    “Listen up, you say you want to be warriors and fighters, which is fine, but you will not be able to go back once you start. If you can’t handle training then you take that baseball bat off the bench right there and you hit the bell hanging from that tree. Now, if you’re ready to start, let's do this.” I said and then Nicole stepped forward.   “Welcome to hell week. Everyone here give your soul to the Moon Goddess because your asses belong to us for the whole week. Everyone, line up and we will begin with sixty laps around the training field.” Nicole said and we watched as everyone lined up one by one and then started running behind the other. At one point there were two girls running side by side and they were trying to outrun each other, but when they made it to lap number fifty five they slowed down and began walking for a few minutes, before starting to run again. I think their names are Penny and Amy and they were good, but they were also always trying to outdo one another, which kept them on their toes. Gabrielle was in second place and I knew exactly what she was doing, she was intentionally slowing herself down for the others. She didn’t want them to think she had an advantage being an Alpha’s daughter, but we all knew that she did and I would have to talk to her about using it to her strengths.    “Good job everyone, now if you think that was easy then lets do ninety squats, leg lifts, push ups and sit ups. I want them done as soon as you get over the finish line, come on, I want to see who is going to be the first one to hit that bell.” Nicole said, making Gabrielle and I laugh a little because even though she was acting a hardass now, if anyone did hit the bell she would be the first to check on them after training. Four hours of training and I was sure that this one guy called Duggie was going to pass out, but then he surprised me by grabbing his water bottle, drinking some of it and then starting back up again. When training finally came to an end Nicole and I stood up, proud of all of them as no one hit the bell.   “Alright guys, we’re proud of each and every one of you for how well you have done today, but tomorrow is going to be just as bad, so if you think you can handle it and want to come back tomorrow, then be here at six in the morning.” I announced and then stood with Gabrielle and Nicole as we watched everyone leave.   “So, who do you think will give up first?” Gabrielle asked, but we both shrugged.   “I’m not sure, but we’ll find out tomorrow when some of them don’t show up. The ones that truly want to do this will be here and they are the only ones I want to train because I know they will give me one hundred percent and still keep going. After all, they’re the ones that wanted to do this, so we are training them. If they can’t take it then they know where the bat is and they know where the bell is.” Nicole replied and we both nodded.   “Well I’m going to shower and relax, I think I might even talk to mom some. I know she’s not here anymore, but I miss her.” Gabrielle said and I nodded, knowing exactly what she meant.   “Go ahead girl, get your rest and we’ll see you tomorrow. If you do talk to grandma, then tell her we miss and love her.” I said, as we hugged her goodbye.    Joseph’s P.O.V   I was out on my post, walking back and forth, patrolling the area, but my mind was anything but work. I kept wondering why I hadn’t shifted yet, in fact none of us had and Isaiah was the oldest out of all five of us. Polly and Nicole were good at fighting and so was Gabrielle and Isaiah, but none of them had shifted yet, which was weird seeing as we were all born around the same time. It often made me wonder what I would do if I was attacked, but I guess I should have thought about that before I decided to become a guard. I was looking all over the area I covered, trying to see if there was anything out of the ordinary, when suddenly I heard a voice.   “Man, do you ever stop complaining?” The voice said, but there was no one else here.    “The name is Russell and I am your wolf. I’ve been trying to break through for the longest time, but I’m here now and you’re about to shift.” The voice I now knew as Russell said, but before I could react or do anything I started to feel my bones breaking. I fell to my knees as my legs broke and I screamed out in pain, but in a flash my sister Lexi was there in her wolf form. She nuzzled into me, trying to help me by keeping me calm, when suddenly Isaiah, Polly, Nicole and Gabrielle were standing there as well. None of them looked like they had a clue what was going on, until they all felt it, the same thing I had. They each began to shift into their wolves like I was and it was like a chain reaction as one by one we were all on all fours, looking around.   Mercury’s P.O.V   I knew something was wrong, I could feel that something had happened, so I ran out of the house at full speed and towards the edge of the territory where I felt it was coming from. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw six wolves standing in front of me. I recognised Lexi straight away, but then there were five more. Lexi went behind a tree and shifted back into her human form, then came out wearing a long shirt. I looked at the wolves and knew right away who they were. My son and daughter and my three grandkids had shifted for the first time, I thought and I smiled wide as the two pure black wolves walked over to me. Polly was a huge red wolf with a white crescent moon in the middle of her head and Nicole was exactly the same, but when I looked over at Joseph something was wrong. He had shifted back into his human form, but he was writhing in pain on the floor, screaming out and then he began to shift again.   “William, I need you to get here….” I started to say, mind-linking him when he showed up next to me.   “I know, I felt it happening. He’s shifting into a bear as well.” William said, walking over to his son. I guess it made sense seeing as his father, William was a werebear and his mother, my daughter Anna was a werewolf, so it was only natural for him to shift into either a bear or a wolf, but I had never heard of anyone ever shifting into both before. William coached him through it all the way until Joseph was standing in front of us as a huge brown bear.   “Son, I know this is strange to you, but I promise you will be alright. You need to shift back now and I promise we will talk about this.” William softly said to his son as he slowly walked up to his huge bear. We all watched as Joseph began to shift back into his human form and we could all see that he was worn out. It was mentally and physically draining to shift once for the first time, but Joseph had just shifted into both a wolf and a bear for the first time.   “So, I’m a hybrid, I can shift either way. I’m good with that, but I hope it doesn’t hurt as much the next time I need to shift.” Joseph said, chuckling as he grabbed a pair of shorts and quickly put them on. William and I both laughed at how chipper he was after going through something so painful.   “It gets better after a while, Joseph.” William replied, still chuckling.   “Goddess I hope so.” Joseph said as everyone else shifted back and were quickly handed clothes by Lexi. I was so proud of them, all of them.   “I knew that one of you would shift first as it was obvious, but I had no idea that when one did the rest would follow.” I said, smiling at all of them, but then Isaiah looked at me and I could feel how anxious he was.   “Is everything okay, son?” I asked, mind-linking him, but he just shook his head.   “Dad, when you get a chance I need to talk to you about something, it's important.” Isaiah replied, mind-linking me back and I nodded.   “Of course, let's get done here and then we will go inside and talk.” I said, curious as to what this was about. The only thing I could think was that it had something to do with last night as that was the only thing that had been a change of routine for Isaiah. After a few more minutes the kids were getting tired after shifting, so they all went back inside. While Isaiah and I headed straight for my office.   “So, what do you want to talk to me about?” I asked, but Isaiah suddenly looked really worried and nervous.
