Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)

I took a few deep breaths and calmed myself down before asking Theo to come inside. Theo entered the room with Alpha Brooke behind him. He came with his beta. “Good afternoon, Alpha Grant,” he greeted me with a broad smile on his face….. a fake enthusiastic smile…

“Good afternoon, Alpha Brooke….. please have a seat." I greeted him back arrogantly and gestured to him towards the chairs on the other side of the table across from me. His smile stiffened immediately, but he concealed his disappointment very well.

Theo also took his chair before Alpha Grant could sit and made himself comfortable. Both Alpha Brooke and his beta took chairs and sat down. I could see that he was dissatisfied with the way we were behaving right now.

“Let’s cut the chase and come straight to the point, Alpha Brooke. Why are you here?” I asked him in straightforward words without giving him the time to beat the bush. His expression went ugly once again, but he soon recovered.

“I like your straightforwardness, Alpha Grant,” he said with a light chuckle, making me scoff internally. I kept my poker face straight while looking at him coldly. He cleared his throat before speaking again. “I am here to propose my daughter’s hand in marriage to you, Alpha Grant.”

I scoffed and tilted my head lightly. “What made you think, Alpha Grant, that I would accept your proposal when I have a mate out there?” I asked him in a cold tone, looking straight into his eyes. He raised his brows immediately. “You found your mate?” he asked me immediately in a surprised tone. I didn’t give him any answer but kept looking at him coldly.

There was a tense silence in the room as none of us spoke once again. “Why didn’t I know about this?” Theo asked me through mind-link. “Shut up,” I scolded him, but kept on staring at Alpha Grant, who was still looking at me with a surprised look. “May I know who that lucky she-wolf is?” he asked me in a low tone.

“No,” I replied bluntly without any hesitation. His expression went ugly immediately. Of course, he was not happy with my attitude towards him. “I am sure that whoever that she-wolf is, she is inferior to my daughter in every aspect,” he said in disgust, insulting my mate.

I growled aloud in anger and stood up from the chair. Theo immediately jumped on his feet and the next second, he wrapped his hand around my torso, keeping me on my feet as I was ready to strangle this trash of alpha.

Alpha Brooke and his beta also stood up immediately, and he looked at me with a threat. “Thanks to your lucky stars that you are in my pack, Alpha, or else you have stopped breathing the very second when you insulted my mate. Any she-wolf is far better than your daughter who sleeps around and has more than 10 boy toys in her harem. I feel pity for her mate or whoever she will marry, but I am not that person. Leave my pack and don’t think to come back here again,” I threatened him while insulting her daughter in the worst way.

He wanted to pounce on me, but his beta held him back, making me growl once again, threateningly. “This way, Alpha Brooke….. you are not welcome here,” Theo said in a stern tone while gesturing towards the door. “Stupid ….. a***ole,” I muttered after they stormed out of my office in anger. I guess I needed to speed up eliminating my enemies, but before that, I needed to teach this stupid alpha a lesson.

Summer’s P.O.V.

“You don’t need to jeopardize your friendship with him, Adam. Whatever happened is between me and him.” I tried to persuade Adam once again not to remove from the beta position as it would worsen the situation there.

“Not only me, but Dad also agreed with it, Summer. You don’t need to feel guilty about this. He disrespected the Moon Goddess’ decision, and this is a serious crime.” He answered me the same explanation that he has been give me for the past three days.

I had been a month that I left the pack, and settled myself in this human city. There are few werewolves from different packs settled around in this locality because of different reasons, and I had a good relationship with them now.

“Pearl and William are trying to persuade my father, but we told them that it’s the council who took this decision. I am taking Walter as my beta. He is capable and better than William in every aspect.” He informed me and my eyes widened in surprise.

Walter was William’s younger brother. I could imagine Pearl and my mother’s facial expression and to be honest, it gave me a strange satisfaction that I didn’t want to admit but it really felt good.

“Served them right.” Marie, my wolf, chirped and I smiled widely.

“Pearl and William are holding their ceremony this weekend and your mother is giving me a headache with her continuous nagging. She wants you to attend the ceremony and plead to the council and my father to restore William’s position for the sake of Pearl’s future.” He continued in a serious tone, and I scoffed internally.

Yeah, that my mother could do as she never had an ounce of affection for me, but for Pearl, she could pluck the stars if she asks.

“What did you say to her?” I asked while whipping the egg. I was making my breakfast when I got this call from Adam. “What do you think?” he asked me in a mischievous tone. He really impressed me sometimes by changing his emotions so quickly.

I laughed with him this time while shaking my head. Why didn’t the Moon Goddess give him to me as my real brother? “I guess she is trying to get your new number by any means, but you rest assured. She can’t get your number…. Still, I want you to not take a call today from an unknown number,” he said to me after our laughter died after some time.

“You don’t worry, Adam…. I have severed the ties with them. When there is no family tie between us, then how can she force me to do anything against my wish, huh?” I replied to him in a sarcastic tone while pouring the whipped eggs into the pan.

“That’s like my girl…. I will be at ease now,” he replied to me in a cheerful tone this time. “Okay…. I need to make my breakfast as soon as possible so that I can go to the office on time. Will talk to you during lunch,” I said to him while finishing eggs. “Don’t call me today as I will be busy with some pack work. I will call you whenever I will be free,” he told me, and I pursed my lips into a thin line.

“Did something happen, Adam?” I asked while stopping my hands in a concerned tone. I heard him taking a deep breath. “I will ask you for help if I need to, kiddo…. Just take care of yourself,” he answered me in a loving and gentle tone. It meant that something happened but he didn’t want to tell me. I smirked while thinking about something.

“Are you coming to our company’s anniversary party the next weekend?” I asked him when I remembered about this. “Of course, I will come. It has been more than two months since to see you. I will come for you.” He answered me immediately. “Uhhh… I gotta go now, kiddo… wait for my call.” He said hesitantly, but I smiled feeling the warmth of his love and care.

“Okay then… I will wait for your call,” I said to him in a calm tone and then we both hung up. I took a deep breath and jerked my head lightly. I needed to finish preparing my breakfast first. As for my mother and Pearl…. They can go to hell that's all I care.

After finishing everything, I took my laptop bag and my handbag from the couch in the living room, and headed out. My company was not far from the place where I live now. True to his words, Adam transferred the apartment to my name within a week after I came here. Now I had my own place to live and a perfect job for me. I was content with my life.

The only thing that made me worried sometimes was the restlessness of Marie. Just like me, she also missed the forest, river and open land on our pack land where she could have fun with her true self. This wasn't the first time that we left the pack, but this time, it hurt worse than earlier.

Here, in the city, we had to keep our true identity concealed for the sake of our survival. Adam asked someone to send me a perfume that helped me hide my scent so that no rogue could trace me here.

“Hey…. I have an idea.” I suddenly remembered something while walking towards the company. “What?” Marie asked me in a curious tone. “We can talk to Beta Theo in this matter. As far as I know, Alpha Nathan and Beta Theo with their team live in the city most of the time. Adam told me that they operate all the pack work from here. They must know a place where you can have your run.” I told her what I knew about them.

An alpha and a beta wolf need their free run at least twice a week to keep their wolves sane. So, they must know a place for run. “Do you think that you can talk to Beta Theo so easily, huh? Don’t forget that we aren’t in our pack, but you are just an intern in this company.” Marie made fun of me in a teasing tone.

I scoffed while twitching my lips, but I decided to look for Beta Theo today. Adam told me that I could look for Beta Theo any time if I needed any help here. I also wanted Marie to live her life like a free soul, not like a prisoner bound to stay inside our body because she couldn’t let anyone see our real self.
