His Cold Voice

1407 Words
Summer’s P.O.V. (Continued) After cloaking in, I went straight to the room of my manager. She was a woman in her early forties. She was a human but had a genius mind. She knew my connection with Alpha Nathan, and that was why I chose to ask her about Beta Theo's whereabouts. She had a good impression of me because I always kept myself open to learning and never used my connections with the upper level. I didn’t need to do this as I wanted to earn my place by myself. She told me that Alpha Nathan and Beta Theo rarely came here as they had their proper office in the third building which is far away from here. Our company has three branches in the same city. I thanked her before coming out of her room. I took a deep breath while walking towards my cubicle. After finishing my daily routine, I finally started my work after ten minutes. My mind was still thinking about talking with Beta Theo, but I didn’t know how to find him. I slapped my forehead and scolded myself for being a fool when I remembered that Adam had given me Beta Theo’s number when I was leaving the pack. He told me that I could call Beta Theo at any time if I faced any trouble here. “How could I forget this?” I murmured to myself and decided to send him a message before calling him before lunch. He was after all the COO of our company. He must be busy with his routine business stuff. I sent a message to him, introducing myself first, and then asking if I could give him a call. I waited for a few seconds for his reply but didn't get any. It meant that he was busy. I sighed and continued my work once again. I was now honing my skills in cyber security. It’s not an easy task, but I love challenges. We have to keep improving our security walls to keep hackers away from our system. I cracked my neck on either side after I finished my task for the day. It was almost lunchtime. I took my phone from the desk to see if I got any reply from Theo. I raised my brows in surprise when I saw the reply that he sent after five minutes of my message. We always kept our phones on silent so that we wouldn’t get distracted during our work. That was why I didn’t know that he replied to me. I looked at the time and it was almost lunchtime. I sent a message again asking if I could call him now. I waited for two minutes for a reply but pursed my lips with disappointment when I didn’t get any reply this time. He must be busy. We were completely strangers to each other and he had no obligation towards me to answer my messages immediately. I consoled myself and smiled faintly. I shut off the laptop and stood up after placing the laptop inside the drawer. My stomach grumbled lightly, indicating that it was empty now. I stood up and looked at the girl in the next cubicle. Her name was Emily….. She was also an intern and was friendly by nature. We were not friends, as I was an introvert, but we got along well enough to share lunch together. We took care of each other in our ways. Emily was also a human, and that was, I didn’t want to be involved with her too much. “What’s wrong?” I asked her when I saw a gloomy expression on her face. She sighed and stood up from her seat too. I went near her and put my elbow on the top of the cubicle wall that separated our seats. “I really can’t put my head around this string of coding. This is only a dummy, but it’s enough to make me realize that I am still nowhere to excellence.” She told me in a sad tone, still looking at her laptop screen. I smiled and walked out of my cubicle to go towards her cubicle. “Let me see if I can be of any help,” I said to her while bending on my waist. “Yeah… sure… you are more intelligent and smarter than me, Summer.” She replied to me in a cheerful tone this time. I chuckled but looked at the coding string on the screen. I sighed when I recognized where the problem was. I immediately called her and told her what she was missing. She was stunned at first and exclaimed aloud but squealed in delight in the end, startling me. I glared hard at her while straightening my waist. “Gosh, Emily…. You scared me to death.” I faked an angry look and punched her arm playfully but controlled my strength. She smiled sheepishly and thanked me before finishing her work. I felt a vibration in my suit jacket pocket. I immediately took my phone out and smiled again when I saw his reply. He asked me to call him whenever I wanted. I looked at Emily, who was now engrossed in her work. She would take time to finish this. So, I had time to call him right now. “I am waiting for you outside,” I whispered to her before going out of the department. There was a long corridor outside the department that led to the other departments on the same floor. I went to the farthest corner of the corridor from where I could see the door of our department. There were a few people coming going in the corridor but all of them were humans. I dialed Beta Theo’s number and put the phone on my ear while biting my nails anxiously. I didn’t know, but I had a very vague feeling to stay on alert. Someone picked up the call after the fourth ring. “Halo!” A heavy, cold voice from the other side, made me freeze in my place and I felt a chill running through my spine. “Ha.. halo, Beta Theo. I won’t take your much time. I only need to know if there is any place here in the city where I can, you know, have a run?” I asked him anxiously. I don’t know why I was anxious, but there was something in his voice that made my heart beat so furiously that I felt a slight pain in my chest. “Theo is not here at the moment. I will tell him about your query.” The person on the other side answered me in a cold and domineering tone. “O… okay… tha.. thanks for the help, sir.” I replied to him while stuttering hard this time, and before he could say another word, I hung up. “My goddess! What just happened?” I asked myself while patting my chest lightly in shock. I was warrior and it’s not easy to intimidate me. There are only a few people known to me who can intimidate me, and this person is definitely not on the list. Still I couldn't shake the feeling of something churning in my stomach after listening to his voice. “His voice is too cold for my liking, but I found it se*xy.” Marie said to me in a teasing tone, and I groaned in frustration. H**ny b**ch….. She laughed, and I ignored her completely. I walked towards the canteen while shaking my head lightly, thinking about the person to whom I had talked earlier. “Ouch.” I yelped in pain when I hit someone’s chest as soon as I moved around the corner. I staggered on my feet, but got my balance back, holding the wall beside me. My nose took the hit, and I was sure that I broke my nose. I held my nose and glared at him. He was almost half a foot taller than me, clad in a pristine suit, and must be a gamma or delta by rank, as I could feel that he was a werewolf. He also had a dark scowl on his face as if I had done something wrong to him. “Watch your way before moving like this, girl.” He scolded me, and my eyes widened in shock. Is he real?
