Stella saw Maxwell waiting for her outside the New Haven police station. Clearly, this personal news was not suitable for sharing inside.
She felt nervous and upset. This must be to do with his wife. She hadn’t wanted to hear her name, or any mention of her. Not after the destructive arc their relationship had taken over the past few weeks. Not when it felt like they were slowly rebuilding again.
And definitely not while they were working on such a pressured murder case. She couldn’t afford such a distraction. Neither of them could.
