That made Damien grin. Him seeing Adelaide in front of him means that she is alive and well, and the woman held hostage was not her. The table had been turned.
"Adelaide!" it seemed that caught him off guard. He tried to get ahold of her but he failed because Adelaide's full attention was on Damien.
"Damien!" she rushed to him.
Damien felt relieved as if the huge fish bone that was stuck in his throat had been lifted. He had secured Adelaide, and hugged her so tight. The typical man would use that opportunity to attack, but instead, he hugged her so tight as if he was going to lose her. Even his men think that he becomes this soft hearted man when it comes to Adelaide.
"Let's go now, Sir," Ezekiel's aide said, because they must seize this opportunity to escape now that they have been greatly outnumbered. Moreover, that isn't even the main villa of Ezekiel.
He wanted to stay, but he knew that it was the right thing to do. Before he did so, he looked one more time at the two and felt his heart clench even more.
I'll come back, Adelaide. Please wait for me. He told himself before he left.
"How are you? Are you hurt?" he asked and checked her. She smiled to reassure him.
"I'm fine, I've been waiting for you," she said, and hugged him tight, but then she was extremely frightened by what she did but was able to do it. That night, she pretended to be dead locked by wine to catch the enemy off guard, and lower their safety of her. And that's what happened.
"I'm relieved," Damien said before looking back at where Ezekiel was, "Don't follow him. This is his territory. That man is crafty, and there would be a lot of traps here," he ordered, and his men held their guns. Damien realized that it wouldn't do him any good to pursue him further now that Adelaide was with him.
"Let's go," he said and they immediately entered the car. Although she looked fine, he cannot be relieved by just that and decided to go straight into the house and call for a doctor.
"You must've been frightened," he said in a low voice, "I'm sorry." the silence was deafening. That is why he decided to open the conversation. Adelaide is tired from all the things she did.
"You know... 'frightened' is an understatement," she said and looked at him, "I thought I was going to die back then. Never in my life have I expected that to happen... not on my wedding day," and massaged her forehead.
"I..." he bit his tongue to stop himself from apologizing twice. That's not his usual self. A man of his caliber rarely did so.
"No, you don't have to apologize..." she sighed and rested her back, knowing it was gonna be a long journey, "How is my Son?"
Damien felt relieved at how calm she was taking the situation right now.
"He is at my villa."
"Is he safe? Looking for me?"
"Yes, I told him that you were just on a business trip."
"That's good to hear," Adelaide was getting impatient every minute to come home and see her son. There is a lot to settle, but she hopes she can come home soon.
Many things happened that day. Ezekiel was forced to return to his home country. His uncle was furious at what he did, and causes such a dispute that ends the long-time relationship between the Luceria and Dominguez family.
"You messed up big time," his cousin, Theodore said, "Father is very angry. I suggest you lie low for a while," they are first blood cousins. He drank the whole glass of brandy given to him because of frustration and how could he fail in a situation like that one?
He did not answer him and remained silent.
"Why did you specifically target her? You didn't gain anything from that," he said and sighed, "You were not this reckless before."
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"What?" asked Theodore, as if he heard a ghost apologizing. The Ezekiel he knew would never ever apologize... that's why he almost dropped the glass he was holding. "Are you for... real?" he asked, and then stood up.
"You really need serious medical attention... I...I'll tell father about this!" he said and Ezekiel's forehead knotted.
"What the hell man?!" he asked when Theodore rushed out of the door and he couldn't speak a thing. He was confused and washed his face with just his hands. One thing he did not expect was Adelaide... getting out of that room.
It has been three years since he died, the Sebastian they knew. It was no wonder if she fell in love with another man.
But what about she showed me last night?
Ezekiel is hanging in the last ray of hope he could find because of the things not getting in his way. He was so agitated and had an irresistible urge to see Adelaide. His patience is lost when it comes to her.
"Young Master," a servant called him on the plane, "Lady Beatrice is calling," he looked up and knew that if he did not take that call, she would keep calling him until he answered.
"What is it this time?" he asked, irritated.
"DID YOU SEE THE NEWS?" she asked, as if adding fuel to the fire and tension. Problem after problem kept happening and he couldn't keep up.
"No, I'm in a plane,"
"LOOK AT THE NEWS!" she sighed as if to vent her frustrations, "What the hell were you thinking, Ezekiel?! My father is furious. We are engaged!" she said and kept rambling on the phone and nothing was coming to his mind. What he was focused on right now is actually the content of the news... and that it all attacked, no, pointing at him. All of his past issues were coming out of the surface... just when the board of directors had been.
"I'll handle this."
