"Mommy!"
"Jacques!" I immediately hugged my son. It has been a while since I last saw him. Damien was there, standing behind me and remaining silent. He had a good relationship with my son, but they are not that close.
It was a good thing that we are back in our apartment, and not in his villa. I just want to rest now and spend some time with my family.
"Uhhh..." I said and wanted to offer something more but I stopped myself because it could make Jacques uncomfortable. There was this one time when he wouldn't stop crying because of him... and he kept asking me if he was his daddy.
"Mister Damien," he called him, which shocked me, it was quite unusual. "Thank you you for taking my mom home... safe," he blushed and looked down. I was kind of surprised at what he did.
"Oh, my pleasure," he said and smiled... now I can see that he is relieved at seeing him and at peace now. It must've been weighing on his mind when it came to my son. I smiled at them.
"Care to join us for dinner?" I asked when his assistant, Dan, had interrupted.
"We have an appointment----" he cut him off with his hand signal. He immediately understood it.
"I would love to," and smiled at him, telling him that it was his priority. I looked at Dan and he looked resigned at his master. I chuckled.
"Rest on the sofa, and bring him tea, Jacques," I ordered, and my son happily giggled, "I'll be preparing dinner in a while."
"Okay, mommy," he said. At a young age, he was trained to do so because my helper is on her leave today. I proceeded to the kitchen and noticed that the two of them were talking seriously.
I asked Damien not to get Jacques involved in the fake wedding out of respect for me. That's why he is not there at the wedding. It was the right decision to do so anyway. If things got worse... He could be abducted too. I'm relieved that didn't happen at all.
I wonder what they are talking about that made them look at each other like that.
"Do you love my mommy?" he asked straightforwardly, like a mature boy for his age. Damien finds the young boy adorable even though he is not his son. For him, he was his child too, because he was Adelaide's child.
"Yes," he answered without blinking his eyes, he was so sure of Adelaide that he was willing to go through a needle hole just to get her.
"I see," the young Jacques said and fixed his glasses, "Then I shall accept you too..." he said, and drank the milk in his glass.
"Why?" he couldn't stop himself but to ask that question.
"Coz my mommy likes you," and put the milk bottle in his mouth.
"Your mom likes me?" he asked, and felt this excruciating happiness and unfamiliar feeling in his chest that he hadn't felt before.
"Yes, so I should like you too."
Hours went by like that and it was time for dinner. Luckily, I had stocked groceries and meats on the fridge way, way before. I am also thinking of changing the nanny because there are so many things she doesn't know.
"Are you sure it was alright to spend time with us?" I asked him and he nodded.
"There's no better place to be," he said, and we ate together.
He really looked so handsome. I knew that the very first time we met. I wonder how those luscious lips would taste if I kissed him...
"Are you okay?" he asked me and that's when I realized that I had stopped eating and was just looking at him.
"U-uh, yeah, sorry," I said and shook my head, "I must've been tired."
"It's alright," he said and wiped his lips elegantly, "Don't worry about the mess. Dan will take care of it," he said and looked at Jacques who had fallen asleep on the sofa while feeding on the milk bottle. "He must've been tired," he said, was and rushed to where my son's son and picked him up.
"Tell me where his room is," he asked, and I felt my heart touched by that gesture. It surely must have been hard to raise Jacques by himself... and he started asking for a father.
"Follow me," I said. We walked towards it and opened the room designed specifically for him, and he slowly put Jacques on the bed. I felt relieved.
"Time is so fast, he has grown," I said and touched my arms, "He is kind of heavy now, you know," I said and smiled at him.
"Then I can always carry him for you."
"Ahuh," I chuckled and looked down, "You know that he can't get attached to him, right?" I asked him and he looked sad. I looked at his eyes... it's one of the most beautiful ones I saw even though it was just the color black, like most people.
He did not speak. I knew it once when I was abducted... I haven't moved on. I still loved him... I can't forget.
"Adelaide," he called me and hugged me tight, "Why don't we get married for real?" he asked me while holding me tighter. I clenched my fist and knew this would happen.
"Damien, I'm sorry..." I said softly when he suddenly slowly knelt in front of me. He grabbed both of my hands.
"I'm sorry I was careless and let that happen. I promise to love you forever and protect you and Jacques. Please, Adelaide..." I can feel him shaking and my heart is clenching everytime he did that.
I bit my lips to prevent it from saying anything that would hurt him more. Surely, over the years, I developed some feeling of familiarity with him... but that's it. I know to whom my heart belongs to. It was still with Sebastian...
Moreover, who knows what dangers await my Son when we step into his world?
