Episode Five

Albi's point of view There was just one small blip on my clear horizon, and that was the wolf that Bethany referred to as 'the innocent'. In almost eight years of planning, this wolf had never been mentioned, then suddenly they were a priority. We had an ongoing difference of opinion on this. In my mind there could be no way that there was any innocent party at Citrine, but Bethany was adamant she was right. And on the basis I needed to be alive to see my revenge through, I didn't argue with her. One look from her would destroy me if she so desired. Not that I could argue with her anyway, even if I did want to wear my balls as earrings! When Bethany and I 'spoke' - which meant I spoke out loud and she replied back to me by putting her finger tips to my forehead - it took me several hours to get over. A short conversation would have me asleep for half a day. Anything over an hour and I'd be out for at least three days! As a young teenage wolf I had been extremely argumentative once over something as inconsequential as bedtime. As a consequence of that discussion, Mrs Channing, Albi's Mom, had to tell the school that I had influenza and would not attend for a whole week. When Bethany was in human form, our conversations could be held in the conventional way, but Bethany wouldn't ever have a discussion about anything serious out in the open. There was always a possibility that someone could be listening, and that someone didn't have to be in the same house, street or even country. My fake Mom had come across many adversaries in her thousand-year history and I believed everything that she told me. Witches do not tend to get struck down with bouts of paranoia. The news of 'The innocent' meant that we had to delay our plans slightly. We also needed to be far more careful than we had first intended. In truth, what we really needed was an invitation onto Citrine land, which we didn't have a hope in hell of obtaining ourselves. And this is where the King of the Apha's came into play. Bethany has lived with Lucas in his pack grounds for a long time. They have an extremely close friendship, which is bizarre for two different species. That said he also has a vampire for a sister who Bethany adores more than him, so he is definitely not your average Warewolf who is wary of every other race on the planet. He is, in fact, strong, wise, humble - a real altruist who was chosen by the Moon Goddess to represent all Warewolves on the planet. He's the Bruce Springsteen of our world and I am lucky enough to spend time with him at his home. Lucas's first task was to form a council with a representative from each of the main land dwellers. Merpeople (I s**t you not) have their own laws and decrees. Most beings will never meet one, on account that they can't actually breathe out of water, much less walk upright... but again, I know that they exist because of my 'mother'. The council consists of Lucas for Warewolves, Bethany for Witches, Evelyn for Vampires, and Kal Morgan for humans. Kal's older brother Blake was turned by his mate after 30 years of living as a human. Kal also has a wolf for a mate but has never requested to be turned. Their joint knowledge is invaluable. Each one of them is immensely respectful of each other. Even so, if the panel got into a bar brawl, Bethany would come out on top without a scratch to show for it. She is second only to Alanis, making her the most powerful creature on this earth. Together, the council requested a meeting with the ranked wolves of the Citrine pack. It was all dressed up nicey-nicey with the members expressing an interest in getting to know the pack as they were often 'not available' for social occasions and would, of course, come to their home so as not to inconvenience them. Now, the Alpha, Alpha Donovan, can refuse this invitation if he chooses to. However, this would mean the most powerful of spieces stepping onto his territory and kicking his front door down. Well, except for Bethany, because she has to have an invite. I thought that was a vampire thing, but apparently the legends got mixed when it came to Box Office smashes! Personally, I wasn't bothered if Alpha Donovan told the council to f**k off.. It meant we could go back to the original plan of burning the whole place to the ground. Never the less, I prayed to the Moon Goddess that the sooky little coward accepted because it was what the Winter Witch wanted. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to kill any blameless wolves. I simply want to execute Donovan along with the wolves who were directly involved with my father's death and our little team of four has someone within it who has the knowledge to separate the guilty from the innocent. The decent rogues will be given the opportunity to leave, or stay in the pack as Omegas. Or they can fight me and my friends.. meaning I will be free to continue my masacre and I will relish every second of it. With Donovan dead, the territory will be returned to it's rightful owner and I will be crowned Alpha, if that is something that I want to do. I still haven't made my mind up yet. I'm not ambition crazy and either of the twins could do the job blind folded. Bethany tells me that anything can be accomplished with your mate at your side and the right inner circle of people watching your back. I'm not exaggerating when I say that my 'inner circle' has the most formidable wolves with blessings aplenty from the Moon Goddess! As for my mate, well I've not found her yet.
