Albi's Point of View.
I started coming to at around five hours after my conversation with Bethany. I detected that there were other wolves in the room but their scents were familiar. I was in absolutely no danger.
"Wakey, wakey, snoozy head.." sang a soft voice near to my ear. Lilly Campbell! Her voice, just like every other aspect of her, was beautiful. Lilly wasn't my mate but, my Goddess, I would have been so lucky if she had been. Still, even with someone so hot, so close, I found it impossible to prise my eyes open. The power of the winter witch!
"Oi! Sleeping Beauty!" This voice was low and powerful and was more likely to get me moving. "Thought you wanted to get your revenge on?" Lilly's brother Noah sat on me whilst I struggled to get up.
"Get off me!" I muttered, grumpily.
"That's 'Get off me, your majesty' to you'" Noah joked, not moving an inch. I smiled despite the fact that he weighed a tonne. He had never been one to take his title too seriously. Something his father found as irritating as his mother found amusing. April had never been one for titles. She'd just about managed to get used to Luna and then she was promoted to Queen.
Noah took pity on me eventually and slowly I dragged myself into a sitting position. I was relieved to see that our house was back to normal. I'd woken up on the couch.
Naturally, my eyes sought out Lilly first. Yes, she is stunning, but I don't see her as often as I do Noah and I miss her in a brotherly way.
Lilly has her father's height of around six feet and her body is to die for. I daren't even let it into my thoughts that her body comes from her Mom because the Alpha King would shred me to pieces and love every second of it. I am permitted to say that her hair is the same color red as April's although Lilly wears hers in a straight shoulder-length bob (or so she tells me). I happen to know that it takes some effort for her to keep it so straight and blunt. Naturally, it's wavy to the point of ringlets. I know this because Noah and I used to tease her about it when we were younger and I stayed over. I have never slept with the princess. That would be plain rude.
"Hey what's with your eyes?" I asked as I got up to embrace her. They were framed with jet black eyelashes but today they were both the same colour.
"What an incredibly stupid question. It's a good job your pretty." Lilly deadpanned. I pushed her away from me and rolled my eyes forcing her to answer my question.
"I think it's pretty widely known that the princess of our species can be easily identified by the fact she has one green and one blue eye. So I settled on brown. I've got a wig too, but I'll sort that out later. Different colored eyes freak humans out. I don't think we'll run into any, but better to be safe than sorry.
"What about you Prince Noah...any exciting disguises for you?" I queried after giving him a man-hug. "Fake nose and mustache maybe."
"Do you fall asleep during the conversations we have? I am going as myself you loser! So a disguise wouldn't really work."
I laughed. With all the disguises in the world, he would never be able to hide who he was. At six feet four, he was taller than his father, but that was the only discernable difference. He was built of solid muscle, wore the same tribal tattoo around his right bicep, and had the same colored hair and eyes. I've heard April say hundreds of times that if she hadn't been present for his birth, she wouldn't have been one hundred percent sure she was his Mom. Not one single physical gene appeared to have been passed from mother to son.
However, Noah was exactly like April on the inside. He was laid back, kind, fair, and if you hurt anyone he loved, you weren't getting away from him alive.
Whereas Lilly was like her father. Her temper was ferocious but it disappeared in seconds. She was loyal to a fault. She was strong willed, highly driven and was likely to kill first and ask questions later. And bloody hell did that make her hard work sometimes. Thanks to her extremely close relationship with her 'adopted' auntie Erin, Lilly didn't take any s**t and was more forceful than most werewolves we'd encountered.
And if that didn't make her kick ass enough, she was also a healer. Like her mother, her grandmother and every other first born female before that, she too had been given this gift from the Moon Goddess.
And if you still need further reason to be impressed, she's a teller too, just like her paternal Grandmother - or 'Nanny' as she likes to call her.
"Where's Bethany?" I asked, probably a little later than I should have.
"She's with Aunty Evelyn" Lilly replied, as she wandered out into the kitchen.
"Wait, are we shadow jumping?" That would be perfect. Rather than travelling through the night, we could just get Evelyn to transport us there. It would take less than a second, and save so much of our energy.
"We thought about it, but it's too much of a risk to turn up giving off the scent of a vampire." Noah answered.
"That makes sense." I agreed.
"Evelyn is going to transport Bethany though," Noah continued. "She'll stay close, but hasn't been invited into the territory yet. We're going to have to try and form a plan for that when we get there."
"We've got most of the night to think about that. We have a property ready an hour away from Citrine. We'll be able to get about six hours' sleep before our visit in the afternoon." Lilly called from the kitchen.
"How's that temper of yours, Albs?" Only the twins called me Albs. If I ever found it annoying, I certainly didn't now. Especially when Noah was clearly concerned about me.
"So far so good, it'll be the dinner that's the challenge. Sitting with wolves that killed my father will take everything I have."
"Well you know what Bethany said, if it is too much, you have to excuse yourself! The first part of the visit is purely to see how the land lies, so to speak. The fight will come after, and you can light all the damn matches in the box to ignite the fire."
Lilly returned with two mugs of warm liquid and a beer for Noah. I pulled a face as she handed one to me.
"A toast," she said, raising her mug out in front of her. "To the true Alpha's revenge." Even through her lenses I could see her eyes sparkling, she was excited for this. We all were.
We clinked our mugs and downed the rancid liquid in one go. It was repulsive, but for the next 72 hours it would hide our scents.
