Episode Nine

Albi's point of view I followed the screams of Bethany. She sounded like a fatally wounded animal, and I was petrified for her. I took the stairs two at a time. I was desperate to get to her. Something was hurting her. It could have been physical or spiritual.. It didn't matter which, she was obviously in pain and I hated that. I reached the ground floor, expecting my usual surroundings, but my home was not there any more. The places where I had once seen rooms and furniture were now bare. I turned back to the way I had come from. The stairs had disappeared. Our house was a shell. The only thing left were the exterior walls. And I immediately knew why. Bethany, the five year old little girl, didn't need much space. But the winter witch in all of her glory needed so much more. I had seen her transformed so many times. But I would never get used to her beauty. I was a son of the moon and Bethany was the sun. When she transformed she looked no more than 20 years old. She was the most incredible thing anyone could ever hope to see in their entire lifetime. She was over six feet tall. She wore no shoes and always floated six inches from the floor. Her skin was as pale as the moon and her blonde hair fell to the floor. She was absolutely magnificent! I dropped to my knees in front of her. This is usually reserved for the Goddess herself, but I wanted to show her she had my full attention and my total respect. She was in such a rage she could quite easily kill me without meaning it and I so wanted to live. I kept my eyes closed and my head down. Her light and aura could blind me, but I still wanted to bask in it none the less. When you are in the presence of such a sublime being, you wonder whether you are worthy enough to speak, so I didn't utter a word. But I could feel her distress. So when she didn't address me, I had to break the silence. "What is troubling you, your majesty? Is there anything that I can help you with?" I asked gently. She floated across the room and I felt her finger tips against my forehead. "They are hurting the innocent, Albi. The Moon Goddess has watched them for 5 years. They have been imprisoned but always safe. Until today. Alanis can feel her pain. She is in agony. We can not wait any longer. We have to bring the others here and start now." She shook her head whilst speaking the words. She was so worried about this one individual wolf. "What are the consequences of starting this early, your grace?" I asked. "The twins will be less prepared than I had hoped. They were training with Erin and are not quite finished. But I believe they will be strong enough to confront our adversary." Erin was the prettiest woman I had ever seen. At twenty years older than me she was beyond belief! She had a daughter who, if you could believe it, was even more attractive than her mother. She was also an Alpha, a Warrior and a psychopath in a fight. She could also drink more tequila than anyone else on the planet! "Evelyn is off world. We need to wait until she returns for the twins." She continued. Evelyn was Bethany's best friend. She was also a vampire. Different strokes and all that. "What about Oliver?" He was around the same age as me , he was an Alpha in waiting to the Red Moon pack with the ability to shadow jump. Man, have we got some fantastic weapons in our armory! I felt the feelings of sadness but total understanding radiating from my witch. "Alpha George and Luna Mia are very cautious of the supernatural. I will not ask anything of Mia unless there is no other choice." That meant that if she had to ask Mia, it would be an order not a request. She had watched Mia grow up and loved her like a daughter. She would never put her in that position unless she absolutely had to. "I think Oliver would want to help though." I countered gently. "And when he is Alpha he will get to make those decisions himself." She scolded. I knew that was the case. And I knew it royally pissed him off. He was a fighter and was very close to defying his mother. '"You must discourage that at every given opportunity, Albi. That would break his mother's heart, regardless of his intentions." The ferocity in those thoughts almost caused me to black out. She was absolutely adamant about this. "Of course your majesty. Forgive my wayward thoughts." Bloody mind readers, I couldn't keep anything to myself these days! She smiled a little. "I need you to rest now, Albi my darling. It's a long journey to your homeland. Whilst you sleep, I'll make some tea." My eyes started to close against my will. The tea she was making was for me, Noah and Lilly. Our scents needed to be disguised for our visit to Citrine pack. I'd been drinking this tea every morning for as long as I could remember. I blinked once more and my eyes didn't open again. My last thought was that the innocent wolf was a female - typical!
