THE ADMIRAL DID NOT sleep well, having spent much of the night pacing. Over and over, in his mind, he reviewed the evidence. Whoever leads this show has layers of protection. He hides in plain sight, unsuspected because of his international appeal. But who?
He grabs the remote, turns on Good Morning America, and goes to the counter to put a coffee pod into the coffee maker.
While he waits, he drums his fingers. When the cup fills, he takes his drink and sits on the sofa. An ABC news anchor reports on the suicide of the CEO of Frontiers International, committed in jail last night.
“Authorities questioned Samuel Peterson, arrested on charges of espionage. Later, he used a sheet to hang himself in his cell.” Peterson’s photograph flashes across the screen.
