Chapter 3: Bought this man

Both Jason and Sam looked at each other shocked by this little girl’s actions and words. She also left them speechless. The little one was so adorable and cute, she had the most beautiful blue eyes. They were clear and bright. Those eyes reminded Jason of a woman who disappeared from his life years ago. “Dad, can you take me to the hospital?” Asked the little girl. The plead went straight to Jason’s cold heart and they hit a soft spot he didn’t know he had. Before he could think things through he bent to pick up the little and he walked towards the car. Sam followed behind dumbfounded. “Jason, the auction is about to start,” he reminded him. “Were you not against the idea of me being here? What changed?” Jason turned to Sam, “I won’t be long. I will just take her to the nearest hospital and come back here. Stay behind and be on the lookout. If that woman appears, get her immediately,” he instructed. Mrs. Arnolds? Sam stood there still dumbfounded. The thought of what happened that night makes Sam cold. When the car that had Mrs. Arnolds fell off the cliff, people went to look for her. But when her body was never found, everyone thought she was dead, maybe she was eaten by a shark or a dangerous water animal. But on the other hand, Jason didn’t believe she was dead, and he has been searching for her ever since. The little one was starting to struggle when Jason stopped her, “Sit still, I’ll take you.” Jason opened the back door and put her in the back seat, but he fainted before he could fasten the seatbelt. A little later, a handsome little boy walked in with men in black. They looked at the sleepy man in the cage in disdain. The little boy sneered, “You fool. You aren’t smart enough for our Mommy. “Take him away for me!” he demanded. And the bodyguards gently pushed the boy towards the exit. ***** Ciara never thought her grandfather’s mansion would be auctioned. Although the mansion was worth one billion dollars, there were so many things that were worth more in this place. Why did they put the mansion for auction? This upset Ciara. She turned her phone on and sent a message. Is the host here yet? The reply came instantly: No, I don’t have that information yet. This is an underground auction. The properties and valuables sold here are strange and they are privately owned. There are some rich and powerful people who enjoy these kinds of things. The identity of the person who owns that underground auction is unknown. The only thing I can tell you is that he is not easily provoked. Ciara just thought this was nonsense. Not just anyone could pull off this kind of thing. This person had to be wealthy, influential, powerful and untouchable. There were nightclubs, wine pools, and markets surrounding the auction. Someone here had to know who owned this place. If she wasn’t worried about her grandfather’s mansion, she wouldn’t be here. She wouldn’t even know about this dodgy place. How did her uncle and aunt find out about this place in the first place? Maybe they could tell her who the owner of this place was. And where the hell was they? Shouldn’t they be here? There were ones who sold the mansion to save their business. Why aren’t they here? She frowned in irritation. “What we have tonight is rare. Even our big boss probably hasn’t seen a man in a cage before,” said one of the guests. His comment shocked Ciara. Men? Ciara was bored, she only came here for her grandfather’s mansion. The comment really shocked and piqued her curiosity. Her eyes immediately went to the stage. She had seen women being auctioned before, but not men. This was rare. A man that could be auctioned wasn't just an ordinary man, he had to be a god. On the stage, there was a huge cage covered in black cloth. As the host finished speaking, he began to count down excitedly, ready to lift the cloth and revealed the man inside the cage. When the cloth was finally removed everyone in the room gasped. Inside the cage was a sleeping man with no clothes on his upper body. The man was handsome, he was slender and had strong features. His hair and features were a rare sight. His looks were really refreshing. His eyes were closed, and he looked like he was sleeping. Different from the amazement of the people around her, Ciara was shocked and stretched out her hand and rubbed her eyes, thinking that she was wrong. Ciara wasn’t amazed, she was shocked. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Was this Jason? She couldn’t be sure. She closed and rubbed her eyes again, but she kept seeing the same person. Oh god, was this really Jason? She asked herself again. The person in charge of the auction started bidding. “Ten million! “Twenty million!” “Thirty million!” Jason’s appearance brought the whole place to life. Many wealthy businessmen began to bid for him. Ciara stood there in shock. She had a hard time imagining anyone being attracted to the ruthless man in the cage. Everyone was happy and laughing, except her. Jason finally opened his eyes, he was enraged. She felt eyes on her, and as she looked up she met a pair of cold and dark eyes staring right at her. “Some people are brave. Who put this man in the cage?” asked one of the guests. Just then Sam walked in and saw that his boss was in the cage and he immediately ordered several bodyguards to rescue him. But Jason raised his hand to stop them. “Since it’s a lot of money, I can’t go out on my own. Someone has to release me,” explained Jason. He then stood up with a big smile on his face. Although he was smiling, his eyes were so sharp that people around couldn't help shivering.  Sam felt cold, he couldn’t help but reach out to touch his neck. Whoever put Jason in the cage would be doomed.  “Who else wants to bid?” he asked as if challenging them. And then he took a pistol by the cage and looked at the guests. “Ninety million! I…” said one of the guests. He didn’t even finish what he was saying when there was a loud noise. “Bang--!” A shot was fired, and everyone looked at Jason. He shot a man sitting right next to Ciara. The man fell down and Ciara’s face was pale, her eyes were wide open in shock and she started to tremble. Jason would’ve shot a man in front of her. But why was she shocked after what happened to her years ago? There was chaos in the auction hall. Jason fired a few gunshots and the noise stopped immediately. It was dead silent you could hear a pin drop. “How much are you bidding?” challenged Jason still holding the gun. “Madam?” shouted Jason pointing the gun at Ciara. Sam followed Jason’s eyesight and what he saw shocked him. It was Ciara. Jason had been right all along, she was really alive. Ciara had a lot of scenarios regarding her meeting with Jason, but this was not what she had in mind. Since that night she had nightmares because of what he did to her but still, this was not the way she expected them to meet. The gun was still pointed at Ciara. Four years later he still wanted her dead. With all eyes on her, Ciara smiled, and colour returned to her face. She was no longer pale. “Nine dollars, free shipping,” she said walking towards Jason. “I wouldn’t bid on a ruthless animal like you,” said Ciara still smiling, mocking him. Jason was taken aback, how dare she use that tone with him when he has a gun pointed at her? The bodyguards started to sweat, they couldn’t believe that this woman just disrespected their boss. But surprisingly, Jason lowered the gun before putting it back where he took it. He slowly walked out of the cage looking as handsome as ever. In a loud voice, he shouted “It’s a deal.”
