Talia guarded Trevor until he fell asleep, she was afraid if the incident earlier would cause trauma but it doesn’t look that way since Trevor had been researching and asking for things that would create a simple explosive. Being so hyped up because that poor boy managed to make a bomb out of acid and gunpowder!
“Mom! He just made 5 improvised bombs! Two failed to explode but the three succeeded! Imagine how would—“
“Trevor.” Talia made a look at her son which made Trevor sigh in defeat. He got off his chair and sat on the bed.
“He’s very strange,” Trevor said these words with a hint of admiration.
Talia was folding his clothes. “He’s about the same age as you and those things shouldn’t be known to children like you.”
Trevor plumped on his bed, “Is it the reason why if we also know how to do it, we could also rob banks and bomb out establishments?”
Talia sighed, she placed his clothes on the cabinet and went to sit near him. She pinched his nose, “Just sleep. The headmaster called all of the parents to have a meeting on what we should do to those affected children,” she said, “…and also about that boy.”
Trevor abruptly sat, “Charlie?”
Talia nodded, “Yes, Charlie. Some parents were in much anger that they want to lock the child in the prison forever but the law stated that he is still not accountable for any serious crime.”
“He’s only 9!” Trevor exclaimed.
“So does you!” Talia refuted and pushed Trevor onto the bed, “Now, sleep.”
Only when her child finally fell asleep did Talia leave his room. Carefully, she closed the door and was about to head to her room when she almost stumbled back seeing the figure behind her.
She exhaled after the shock, “Goodness, it’s you Cyrus.”
It was Cyrus with his plain look, his hair hanging down, and casual clothing that made him even more handsome. He was staring at Talia.
Talia smiled, “Are you here to check up on Trevor?”
Cyrus then looked at the closed door of Trevor’s room and turned away.
“He is alright, the incident didn’t affect him as a matter of fact...he was still the same.” Talia said, “I’ll tell him tomorrow that you came to check on him—“
“No.” Cyrus cut her, “No need.” he then walked away. Talia gave chase and walked along with him.
“I apologize for the things that Trevor had been…acting lately. He is just a child, you know how much he misses you.” Talia said. Her memories were still fresh of how Cyrus loved Trevor so much when he was just a little toddler, he loved her son as if it was his and Talia never doubted his love only when recently did she feel that something had changed between them.
“And I…” Talia played with her fingers as she stared at Cyrus' cold side view, “I wanted to have a picnic…a family picnic. You, me, and Trevor…anytime as long as it’s your available time.” Talia gathered all her courage.
And only when Cyrus stopped and turned to her did she hold her hands so tight.
That’s right, Cyrus’s behavior didn’t only change towards Trevor but also towards her.
“I have a business trip overseas in the upcoming days. I do not have the free time.” He said with his sharp words and cold eyes, an emotionless face that made Talia freeze in her place.
“You can have the picnic with Trevor and anyone else you like, I already gave you enough budget to do what you like.” he turned away and said those words, leaving Talia staring at his fading back.
He was getting further and further away…
…
Trevor opened his eyes and saw through the windows that it was already morning. His room was spacious, enough to fill everything in but he always had the emptiness whenever he stayed up too long without doing anything. He stretched and yawned before getting off the bed. He was aware that he have no class today so he went straight to the dining table to take a breakfast.
“Good morning Aunt Gilda.” He greeted the old housekeeper.
The housekeeper was mute so she could only nod.
“Good morning Sir Trevor.” He was then greeted by Joe. The gardener of the house was hired by Cyrus’s parents to take care of their precious garden outside the house, he would also help do some chores around since they have no servants or any other housemaids to clean, only Talia and the old lady Gilda.
“Ma’am Talia already went out early to attend a school meeting. She instructed us to take care of you this day.”
Trevor yawned again, “I’m not a child…” he was about to go to the dining table when he stopped.
“What is he doing here?”
Cyrus, who was having a cup of tea on the table as he read the daily newspaper gave a short glance at Trevor and then looked away. Trevor twitched and turned to Joe.
The smiling young man with braided hair leaned toward him, “Sir Cyrus just came out of his room, he said he was already late for work today so he will stay in the house.”
Trevor's jaw dropped, “No way!” he exclaimed. It was his free day and he really don’t want to see his face today! Of all days!
They didn’t know if Cyrus heard them but the man placed down his newspaper and turned to Trevor, “Are you eating or not?”
Talia arrived at the main building of the Eve Academy, there was no damage to any functional buildings but the parents were already bickering in anger.
“That child should get the death penalty!”
“How did the devil even enter here? I didn’t pay that ridiculous tuition just for this lame security!”
“Where is that bald headmaster?!”
They were full of anger and words that the room almost flipped out.
“Whose parent are you?” one then noticed the plain-looking Talia who just entered the room.
