Cyrus was reading the reports from the recent sale. Frowning and focused only when a finger brushed his brows did he finally snapped.
Patricia slender and fair finger brushed his forehead down to his cheeks, her face close as Cyrus saw his reflection on her thick eyeglasses. Patricia leaned to give him a deep kiss, her big chest bumping into him.
Her hand started to travel on his chest as she said between their kisses, “Talia has been calling.”
Cyrus frowned that made her giggle, “She said she calling for already an hour but you’re not answering.”
Cyrus kissed her temple towards her ear that made her make a lustful sound. “I also no longer answered her.”
“Good.” Cyrus said and pulled her close even more.
Patricia swung her hair on the back, “I see that you didn’t like your family.”
Cyrus was still silent.
“But I heard that you were once a lovable family, with a caring wife and a good son, I wonder what happened?”
Cyrus still didn’t answered.
They were indeed a good family when this marriage started. Talia was someone she met through an arrange marriage that his parents asked for him because he had already his 30s without any proper relationship, going on and off with women not until she met Talia.
The woman had always the angelic face, gentle and soft that anyone want to approach her. Even her voice and expression made Cyrus stare at him for a long while before he processed everything. He was told that he would be married to the daughter of one of their old friends in the distant province since this decision had long been decided the moment that this old friend saved her father from death. At first, Cyrus completely disagreed but upon seeing the lady, he was enchanted.
“Talia is concerned about your son’s homeroom meeting—“ she was about to inquire again but Cyrus glared at her.
“He is not my son.”
Patricia’s eyes widened, “What?”
Talia already had Trevor before they met. Unfortunately, she had a lover before she met him.
But they stopped when the telephone suddenly rang, he reached for it only when he heard what the call did he pushed Patricia away and immediately stood in fright.
Patricia who already unbuttoned her sleeve dropped on the ground and abruptly turned to Cyrus who was about to leave, “Hey!”
“Wait for me!”
But Cyrus no longer waited as he hurriedly strode forward out of the building. The moment he passed the cubicles of his employees, he could see the TV monitors on the leisure areas showing reports of a bombed out place.
“Goodness, is it on that school?” they all gathered and muttered.
Cyrus clenched his fist and hurriedly went towards his car, “To the Eve Academy and hurry!” he exclaimed to his driver with his agitated expression.
Patricia who almost stumbled down with her heels tried to catch up but the car already left, leaving her with such messy appearance, “Sir!” she called.
The Eve Academy encompasses several hectares of land and the usual peacefulness of the building around suddenly rang by several sirens and a cloud of black smoke that hovered over them, several children and student ran out as their parents hurriedly came, several cars almost filled the street as the police and fire officers tried to stop them from entering any further.
“We all need to calm down, everything is under control.”
“How can we calm down when our children is still there!?”
“Let us in!”
“Goodness! I will die here if I cannot see my daughter this instant!”
Several parents who had the intention to attend their children’s homeroom meeting this day suddenly met this unexpected disaster. Rumors were circulating that someone tried to bomb this place out that made the parents in panic even more.
Noises and clamor but they all stopped when a man took his way towards the police officer.
Even the police officers stiffened seeing the director of the Stonebull, “G-Good day Sir!” they greeted.
Stonebull doesn’t only function as a business company but it also had the big part in maintaining several departments under the government. Cyrus knew that were all aware of it, “Make me through.”
The officers stared at each other for a while but seeing the impatience on the director’s face, they immediately lifted the signage, “Please this way Sir.”
The noise around suddenly went loud but the officers blocked them off as Cyrus and his driver followed an officer inside the Academy. Several ambulances were on site as children, students and a few parents managed to enter, some of them were injured and some were in mental shock that the medics didn’t allowed them to go out first.
The Main buildings weren’t damaged or some traces of destruction only the smoke coming from the rear was the one they feared since it still didn’t go out.
“The warehouse of the Academy was the only one that got bombed and luckily, someone called, in time for us to detonate the bombs planted all over the buildings.” The officer said.
Cyrus turned to him, “Who?”
The moment the kid confessed what was his purpose in trespassing the Academy, Talia immediately called the police but the first bomb planted in the warehouse full of combustible materials already had the time schedule and it exploded before the police even arrived. It was luck that no children or staff were around the place at that moment.
Talia almost fainted and had no choice but to turn over the kid to the police but Trevor insisted to follow him to the police station.
The kid was still munching the food that Trevor gave as he was locked in a cell.
“Hey,” Trevor knocked on the bar to take his attention.
“Did you really planned to bomb the place up?” instead of fear and nervousness, Trevor stood like a boss with his hand on his pocket as he stared at the kid inside the cell.
The kid gulped the food down and nodded, “My brother and father was killed on that place.”
Trevor raised a brow and leaned closer, “How did they got killed?”
But stopped when someone pulled the back of his collar, “Hey there young man, stop interrogating him. The police will do it later.” Talia reprimanded.
“But Mom, he just tried to make an ultimate s*******r!” his voice full of excitement that made Talia frown.
“What’s with those terms?!”
They bickered again as the kid just turned to gobble up on the food again when all of a sudden, the door suddenly swung open. They raised their head just to see Cyrus.
The man’s eyes landed on them both and the heavy feeling immediately dispersed inside him, he exhaled and finally stood straight as he walked towards them.
“Are you alright?” he asked without any hint of expression.
Talia nodded, “We’re fine, don’t worry.”
He then turned to Trevor who was looking at him with such a glare, he frowned back, “What’s with that look?” he said coldly.
Talia wanted to pull Trevor away but the child was bold, “Mom called you for a hundred of times but none of them was answered,” he gritted his teeth, “You must have such excitement when you heard the bombing and wished—“
Talia immediately covered his mouth and nervously looked at Cyrus, “We’re glad you came.”
Cyrus who still had his dark expression turned to her, “I heard you even found the culprit,” he then turned to Trevor, “And didn’t immediately called the police.”
Trevor tried to take her mother’s hand off of his mouth but Talia didn’t let him, “It’s my mistake, I was the only adult present, I should have called the moment I saw someone trespassed the school.”
“Lives could have been taken.” He spoke coldly.
“I’m sorry.” Talia apologized again and hearing it, Trevor took her hands away.
He blurted to his mother, “Why do you keep saying sorry? Is he a god?”
“Trevor!” Talia scolded him.
Cyrus turned to him, “Looks like you’ve been taught well.”
Trevor snickered, “Better than someone who knew great but was going behind doors.”
Cyrus clenched his fist but Talia immediately got in between them.
“I’m sorry, Cyrus, Trevor had quite the shock earlier, he’s still not on his right mind.” She said.
Cyrus stared at her but didn’t speak as he turned away, he was about to walk away when Talia grabbed his arm.
“Cyrus...can you stay for a while?” she asked him.
Cyrus turned to her and saw her usual soft look, as if pleading if he could stay with them for a moment.
And this is the sole reason why he got enchanted by her in the first place. He opened his mouth then he suddenly remembered that moment 6 months ago.
It was the time when he was about to take Trevor and Talia from school when he accidentally saw Talia talking a mysterious man by the street, they were close and intimately talking as Trevor had his unusual bright expression and playful smile while playing with the man’s hand.
It was a scene that never happened to them.
A gush of jealousy and anger stirred in his heart. Starting that day, he went on his old way again, giving lesser time to his wife and son.
He didn’t asked about it to Talia nor investigated it since he knew very well that it might be Trevor’s real father and Talia’s old lover, that they would secretly meet up behind his back which would just made him miserable and he didn’t want it.
“No.” he took his arm from Talia, “I had several things to do, it’s good that you are both okay. Rest and recuperate in the house.” He said with such coldness and left.
Talia held her hand as he stared at Cyrus back, leaving them again.
“That’s a terrible father.”
They both turned to the person who spoke, it was Charlie licking his fingers.
“I could bomb him out for you.” He said casually.
“Thank you but no Charlie,” Talia said and took her coat to cover Trevor.
“We’ll be going now, please take care.” Talia said to the boy but Trevor raised his head, “We’ll come back here, right?”
