Talia was surprised but kindly answered, “I’m Trevor Hanlock’s mother.”
They all then hushed up hearing those words. All gaze landed on her.
“The wife of the Stonebull’s director,” one muttered.
Talia just smiled at them, but they suddenly quieted, realizing it was her.
“Did your husband say something about this?” one of the leading parents asked.
“Did he say something about suing this school?” one added
“Um, no. He’s a bit busy so…we haven’t talked about much the incident.” Talia honestly answered.
Another wave of silence filled the room and Talia who couldn’t read their minds just silently went to sit with all the low voices around her.
“I heard they were neglected.” One whispered.
“And she’s a bit plain, don’t you think?”
“Is the director not giving her enough funds?”
And because they have another topic to discuss, they no longer had the energy to yell and get angry because the headmaster was late instead, they started to compare their wealth and beauty to each other, especially to Talia who they didn’t expect to be someone so plain and average.
That was the reason why Talia wasn’t fond of attending this kind of meeting but for the sake of Trevor, she would endure.
“Such loud people.”
Talia turned beside her and saw a chubby woman, wearing such dangling jewelry on her head and neck. The woman saw that she was staring and then smiled with her red lips, “Hi.”
Talia smiled, amused with her popped cheek and smiling eyes, “Hello.”
“I see that you’re not loud.” The woman said and Talia could only smile.
“I think so.”
“That’s why I’m really afraid to have a child, what if I turn into like those quacking ducks?”
Talia giggled, “Are you not?” she asked.
“Nah, I just came because of my niece. Her parents died and my mother was old so I need to take the job.” The woman casually said.
“Oh,” Talia was surprised.
“I was here when the incident happened yesterday. The whole warehouse was bombed out just with a single explosive made by a toddler.” she snorted, “Kids these days.”
Talia was curious, “Are…are you not worried?”
“Me?” the woman laughed, “I’m worried about that naughty niece of mine of course but I’m laughing because if that kid pressed the button to activate all the planted bombs, I’m already not here today sitting and laughing.”
“And it is quite amusing how a single devil would take many grudges inside him.”
Talia frowned, “What do you mean?”
The chubby woman turned to her, “You didn’t know?”
“Is there something I should know about?”
The chubby giggled and explained, “Did you think that kid just decided to wake up and do s*******r yesterday?”
She continued, “That kid wanted to revenge.”
Talia frowned deeper as the woman explained.
“That kid wanted revenge. I heard that his older brother died in this place and his father also tried to make s*******r by bombing the place and the people but was the only one who died in the end. Then him.”
Talia was bewildered and wanted to ask more questions when the teachers and principal finally came. Parents settled down as well as them.
The meeting started calmly and then ended up terribly. The parents wanted to punish the kid terribly by attempting such great s*******r in the whole prestigious school, but it was against the law so they could only wait for the authority to take their own step in handling the child.
For now, they were advised to take care of their child carefully especially their mental state, from the fear that the incident had bought.
“I see that you have no anger inside you.” The meeting had adjourned and the chubby said this to Talia.
Talia just smiled, “I was truly afraid but I’m just grateful that my child is okay.”
“That’s good, Don’t be toxic like them, that kid is still a child. He didn’t know things.”
Talia stared at the distant sky near the window beside them, a weary smile appeared.
They were recommended to take a rest for the whole week as the case proceed. Talia entered her car when her tailor called.
“We already tracked the delivery, will you take a look yourself or should I proceed on taking this up?”
Talia smiled, “Just secure things.”
“Roger that.”
Talia drove towards their house with such a calm expression. She was still composed and cool, but the fear that creep inside her yesterday if she lose Trevor, made her almost lose her mind and no one knew about it. That’s why she needs to secure Trevor more, someone that would guard him at all times.
When she arrived, Joe and Gilda welcomed her back.
“How is he? Did he play?” she immediately asked.
Joe was the one closest to Talia so he replied, “He locked up in his room, ma’am.”
Talia turned to him, “Why?” Usually, Trevor would play in the backyard and camp on his free day.
Joe stretched a smile and didn’t answer her directly, “Sir Cyrus also stayed the whole day.”
Talia finally understood and exhaled, “Silly child.”
She then went to Trevor’s room and saw the child playing with his PC, ears were covered by headsets as his eyes solely focused on the screen while his fingers were clicking vigorously on the keyboard.
Talia went near and pulled his headset, “Eyes red again young man.”
“Mom!” he exclaimed as his clicking became louder and a loud groan was heard when his screen turned red. He just got defeated in a game.
“Did you eat lunch?” Talia asked. But Trevor was still mourning for his game.
“Trevor, I’m asking.”
“I did!” the boy then pointed at the snacks on his table.
Talia exhaled.
“I asked about a proper lunch,” Talia said seriously.
Trevor fell in silence. It was obvious that he didn’t come out of his room the whole day since he was still wearing his nighttime pajamas.
“If only that man wasn’t around,” Trevor muttered. Talia heard it and have his gaming chair turn to her.
“What did you say?”
Trevor looked away.
Talia rubbed her head, “He is your father, how come you are like this to him?”
“He is not my father.”
