1049 Words
Talia had to force Trevor out of his gaming chair and had him showered. After he changed him with fresh clothes, she immediately cooked something healthier for him to eat. Trevor was a good child but he was stubborn just like any other kids out there. He had his tantrums and complaints sometimes but he was matured enough how to handle it. “Joe told me you didn’t finished your breakfast earlier.” Talia said as she placed the food on the table. Trevor threw a look on the young gardener but Joe just smiled sweetly as he helped in the kitchen as well as Gilda. “Should we call Sir Cyrus, Ma’am?” Joe then asked. Trevor replied, “No.” Talia knew how serious Trevor was and she didn’t want to stress him out so she could only shake her head, “I’m sure he had his dinner.” After the dinner, Trevor was finally visited by sleepiness. His eyes droop down and already yawned a few times. “Have you seen Charlie?” Trevor suddenly asked with his eyes closed. Talia was pulling the blanket when she heard him, “Who?” Trevor was so tired that his voice was getting lower, “Charlie…that kid…” Talia finally realized who he was talking about and brushed his bangs off his forehead, “No, didn’t see him.” “Mm…” Trevor seemed to have more questions but he was too sleepy that in that moment, he finally wandered on his dreamland under his mother’s care. Talia gave him a meaningful kiss before leaving the room. Silently, she closed the door and saw that Gilda and Joe was still standing outside. Talia smiled at them, “You don’t need to worry, he’s fine. You can now rest.” Joe and Gilda was standing stiff but hearing Talia’s words, they both nodded and left. Talia then prepared to take a shower since she had enough work for the day but the moment she entered their room, she was surprised seeing Cyrus on the bed. His back leaning on the headboard, he had his pajamas on as he read a book. She wouldn’t be surprised if this was on the past but things changes recently that Talia almost forgot that Cyrus had that attitude of reading a lot of books before going to bed. She smiled, “What book is it?” she asked as she walked towards their walk-in closet. “William MacAskill.” Cyrus plainly replied. Talia took her own pajamas, “What we owe the Future? That’s nice.” Cyrus took his eyeglasses off and closed the book, “How is he?” he asked her. Talia turned to him, “Trevor is already a big guy. He’s fine.” She said and already entered the bath. She wanted to be casual and random to her husband but things became awkward ever since the changes that happened in the family. She felt that he became more distant to them however, she was aware how Cyrus’s love for them still lingered around. She knew deep in her heart that Cyrus had always been Cyrus. That man who accepted them whole-heartedly. She just need to maintain the peace and harmony. That’s all. … The City of Osborne is wide but quiet, a place ideal for those who didn’t want any lingering conflict on any political or territorial dispute. Even though they are innovative, the city was run by power and weak authority that the place has the potential to become a breeding ground for crimes. The place near the deck shore of the trading boats, warehouses could be seen. Along the dark alleys and cold breeze, the place was dead silent as the creeping shadow of quick figures reflect on the high walls. And a middle-aged man was finding a good place to sleep for the night. He just lost another hundreds of dollars on the casino and he couldn’t longer go home because of the money he took from his wife, he was hugging himself close as he passed along the alley of the place, seeking for a warm place that he could take refuge for a moment. The sea on the side was dark and quiet and he was already rubbing both of his palms as he passed by the warehouses, searching for an open one to enter when he suddenly bumped into someone. Not someone, but a child. The child hit the man’s legs and stumbled down. “Hey!” the man called but then realized it was just a kid. His eyes squinted and even wrapped his arms close to his body, “Hey kid! What do you think you’re doing here?” The kid heard his voice and immediately snapped his eyes open, it was already red and swollen. He immediately stood up and cling on the man’s pants, “P-Please! Please! Help me! They’re going to kill me!” the child cried. The man finally saw the kid clearly and he was full of dirt, he winced and shook him off. “Hands off!” But the kid was already crying and begging, “Please help me! Kill…They’ll kill us!” The man didn’t listened and was about to walk ahead when the kid grabbed him by the rims of his clothes, he was begging, “Run, we should run!” The man shoved him off and twitched in disgust, “I’m not a beggar and I also have no money!” the man spit and left him off The kid was already crying, he didn’t know what to do. “They’ll kill me. They will kill me.” The kid was about to chase the man who was already a few meters away from him when all of a sudden, they saw a man walking towards them. The kid froze with his eyes wide open. The man approaching had huge steps and his black outfit was camouflaging in the dark. The middle-aged man was still in cold and only when the man was already a few steps from him did he noticed him, “Hey is that your kid—“ But the man took a long handgun beneath his jacket and pointed it on his head without looking at him.
