Trevor was a handsome young his age but he was quite introverted and doesn’t like people that much. The moment he stepped out of the car, he immediately walked toward their building without even glancing at his schoolmates who greeted him. He was famous as well as respected but he really doesn’t like people.
This place was called the Eve Academy, it was the most prestigious school in the whole country that consists of several kids that had the most richest and influential parents.
He was currently on his second grade and this day should be his free day since the homeroom meeting will be held where the parents should occupy their classrooms in the afternoon.
“Good morning Trevor!”
“Morning Trevor!”
His classmates greeted him and immediately circled around his table asking nosy questions like who would attend to him later? Or some things like what would he do during his free time later, all of them having the intention to invite him over but Trevor didn’t replied to any of their queries.
“Trevor, how about you come to my place?” they all stopped when the voice that only belonged to one person sounded, they immediately stepped aside as Shalim, son of the CEO of Fortune Estate, a famous real estate company that handles several lands all over the country spoke.
Shalim has his two great guard behind him both second grader and was their classmate but these two were also the sons of the biggest shareholders on the company so whatever Shalim wanted, they would obey. They reached Trevor’s table and Shalim lifted his chin, “I have the latest game console in our house and have the extra one, you can play with me.” His tone wasn’t completely inviting, more like he was ordering him which made Trevor to shut in silence even more.
Shalim was a proud child so he frowned at this kind of treatment, “My house is grander than anyone else here around.”
Seeing that Trevor didn’t even looked at him, he clenched his fist and slammed his table, “Don’t be so big-headed, I’m talking to you!”
Trevor sighed irritably and turned to him, “I’m fine thank you.” He spoke without any emotion on his face and turned away again that made the children almost laugh.
Shalim was red from the embarrassment and was about to pull his head when their homeroom teacher finally arrived, “Good morning children.”
They all scattered and went to their seats.
The teacher settled in front but frowned when she saw that Shalim and his two friends were still standing beside Trevor’s seat.
“Mr. Knockwood, Mr. Raver and Mr. Plint, what are you still doing there?” the teacher called.
Shalim was glaring at Trevor, “You better watch yourself.” He warned him and left, along with his two friends that followed to him close.
Seeing that they were all seated, she clapped her hand, “So, whose parent are already ready for later?”
Almost of the children raised their hands full of excitement, the teacher was delighted. “As what I had instructed, this will be your free day. You can go home later along with your parents but! You must stay in the school while the meeting was being held.”
“Yes ma’am!” the children replied in chorus.
“Remember, I need both of your parents here. With exception for those who were raised by their single mom or dad or even your grandparents.”
Trevor just plumped into his arms as he gaze the window, he could see the field of the school, the sky, and distant high rise buildings. He could imagine several people filling the spaces with their noise and mean actions just like that i***t Shalim and his father who was full of lies.
Deceiving and evil, if only he and his mother could live alone in this space, it would be a greater place.
And as expected, Cyrus just told Talia that he would call if he had free time for later to attend the meeting since he was still piled up with work which Talia had no right to complain. He left with his secretary who seemed to have gone red all over from her neck to her face.
Talia waved them goodbye and couldn’t help but to remember those times when Cryrus would still pamper her with such affection, taking all his time to take attention to her and Trevor…But all of a sudden, he changed.
She stood for a while until she saw the time on her watch, it’s almost lunch! She promised her son to wait for her since she prepared his lunch box for him!
She hurriedly went back and packed all of the lunch boxes and dressed herself with such loose, comfy clothing. She just tied up her hair and smiled on the mirror as if she was already satisfied.
She packed up everything and took her car to go to Trevor’s school.
She tried to set aside her worries for a while since Trevor could easily read her when all of a sudden, her phone rung. She took her AirPods and answered her tailor, the person who was calling.
“Hey there Talia dear.” a voice of a man sounded but his tone was feminine, calling Talia with such familiarity.
He was Wilma, her personal tailor that makes her exclusive clothes and dresses. Wilma had the original name of Willy but Talia was already used to call him Wilma.
“Good day Wilma.” She replied.
“I came to call that the fabrics you wanted for me to check for you has been verified.”
Talia raised a brow, “Oh?”
“Uh-huh, and guess what, they were all under quality! They just managed to penetrate the market because of its famous manufacturer so I suggest that you shouldn’t touch them.”
Talia crossed the bridge as she listened closely, “No, I must still try them out. I just lost my favorite fabric because of them so I must take things the other way.”
Wilma sighed, “I’m afraid it would take time.”
Talia smiled, “Then take everything you have.”
Talia arrived on the school and parked her car first before she called her son that was immediately answered by Trevor.
“Hey—“
“Mom, come here.”
Talia stopped hearing Trevor’s change of tone.
“Trevor?”
“Mom, come to the backyard of the school, on the old building.” Trevor said which rose panic on Talia that she hurriedly took her seatbelt and took the direction where he pointed to.
The old building was on the rear part of the beautiful school it was abandoned ever since a suicide bomber infiltrated this place years ago. It was just a sudden occurrence that bought fear to parents but luckily, everyone was safe since the person who seemed to have knew this in advance immediately called to a parent and a force evacuation was immediately declared leaving the suicide bomber to die alone.
When Talia arrived on the place, there were no longer people around and the dead silence covered her ears.
She called, “Trevor?”
“Trevor?”
She already reached the third floor but Trevor wasn’t longer answering the phone! She was rubbing her thumb in nervousness, “Goodness, Trevor.”
“Trevor!” she called in fright and this time, she was finally answered.
“Mom!” it was Trevor’s voice and with that sound, Talia tracked with quick steps and in just a second she finally spotted him by the balcony.
She exhaled in relief and pulled the child on her armr, “Trevor! Don’t scare me like that!”
Trevor then pointed someone, “Him…”
She followed his arm and saw another person. It was a child, maybe around Trevor’s age but he was thin and dirty. With his ragged and bare feet as he gobbled up some burgers and fries on the ground.
“Who…?” she turned to her son.
“I came here during lunch break and I saw him peeking on the main building.”
“I wasn’t peeking!” the boy seemed to have heard him and raised his head to scream while his mouth was still full.
But Trevor was nonchalant as he continued, “He even had a stethoscope.” He then lifted his other arm which he confiscated the object personally.
Talia was bewildered and confused, “Wait, you mean you saw this guy here? Accidentally?”
Trevor nodded but Talia’s eyes darkened, “What are you even doing here Trevor?” she place her hand on her waist again, pointing this thought out.
Trevor stiffened but cleared his throat, “I was just about to take a breather.” He reasoned out. “But it doesn’t matter, look at him.” She pointed at the boy again.
“He’s very suspicious!” he said.
Talia then carefully stared at the boy who kept shoving the food to his mouth who was still munching something.
“Did you really saw him peeking?” Talia asked again.
Trevor nodded, “With this high-class stethoscope. I tried to interrogate him by giving him food but he wouldn’t budge.”
Talia messed his hair, “Why would you even do that?”
“Who knows? Maybe he’s a spy or a bomber?”
Hearing those words, the boy suddenly stopped eating. He clenched his fist and stood, glaring at Trevor, “What did you say?!”
He was trembling in anger.
“What did I say?” Trevor asked back.
The child suddenly had tears on his eyes and run to punch Trevor but was stopped by Talia. She held him by the shoulders and kneeled to face him.
“Hey kid, we won’t hurt you.” She said seeing that the boy suddenly cried with the tears flowing down on his dirty face, “My son here was quite a rude one sometimes but he’s nice.”
Trevor twitched but didn’t refute seeing that the boy was already crying.
“Where’s your parents? Did you came here all by yourself?” Talia asked.
The kid was sniffing and was saying incoherent words.
“What? You’re alone?” Talia caught up and the boy nodded.
“What’s your name?”
The boy wiped his mucus and said, “Charlie.”
Talia took her handkerchief and wiped his mucus away, “Nice to meet you Charlie. I’m Talia and this is my son Trevor.”
The boy then turned to Trevor and asked, “Is he attending this school?”
Talia smiled, “He is. He’s currently on second grade.”
The boy turned back to her and said, “You must get out of this place, bombs were planted all over the place.”
