Chapter 9 the baby talk

1031 Words
Cheyenne’s P.O.V   The next morning I was the first one up and went straight to check on Abigail, who was still sound asleep. She had slept most of the night, only waking up twice, once to be fed and once to have her diaper changed. Mercury was lying on his stomach asleep, tired because he was the one who woke up with her the second time and even though I was awake it was funny to watch him changing her diaper, especially when he realised what she had done. I decided to let Mercury sleep a little longer and seeing as both of them were asleep I decided I would take advantage of it and have a quick shower. I grabbed some clothes and quietly tiptoed into the bathroom, closing the door behind me so that the noise from the shower wouldn't wake either of them up. I turned on the water and had my shower, hurrying as I washed myself and then quickly got back out and dried off. I decided it would be best to leave my hair to dry naturally, so that I wouldn't scare or wake up baby Abigail with the noise from the blow dryer. I got dressed, then went over to the crib to see if Abigail was awake, but she wasn't there. I didn't think too much of it, thinking that Mercury had probably woken up and taken her with him, but when I turned around I saw that Mercury was still in bed asleep in the same position. I started to worry, wondering who could have taken her without either of us noticing and ran out of the bedroom. I stood in the hallway and sniffed the air before I managed to pick up on the baby's scent and followed it all the way to Anna’s room. I knocked a few times and listened.   “Come in, mom.” Anna said and I rushed into the room to see that Anna was sitting on the bed and bottle feeding Abigail.   “Sorry, mom. Dad was sleeping and you were in the shower, so when I heard her crying I took her and soon figured out that she was hungry, so I made a bottle and brought her back in here to feed her. I didn't mean to worry you.” Anna said, looking at me with a concerned look on her face. I breathed out a sigh of relief and after she was done feeding Abigail she burped her and crossed her legs, placing Abigail down on her lap and started making funny faces at her. It was a beautiful sight to see and I couldn't wait for Anna to have children of her own and it would be nice to become a grandma because I could spoil them rotten and they were so precious, I thought as I smiled at her.   “It's fine honey, it was just a shock not seeing her in her crib, just next time write a note or mind-link or something.” I replied and Anna nodded, smiling as she resumed what she was doing with Abigail. I watched as Anna made more funny faces at Abigail, making her little nose scrunch up and her hands grip Anna’s fingers tightly. She was such a cute and bubbly baby, I just hoped that she would be okay when she growed up without her mother, it was going to be hard for her, but she had us and if her pack and father came looking for her then she would have them too, but that was still a big if.   “You know, you will be graduating in a few days, maybe you and your mate, William will think about having some pups.” I said and Anna’s eyes went wide.   “Mom, we have talked about it a while ago and we both decided that we would wait until after I graduated, but we are still young and I just don't think I am ready for that responsibility yet. I want to wait another year and think about it again, besides, I don't think he wants to. We haven't spoken about it for a few years and that's the reason why I want to wait another year, to see if he brings the subject up.” Anna replied, looking a little sad.   “Well honey, you wont know if you don't ask him. How else are you going to know how he feels about it all? Everything will be fine, just don't rush him and he will come around. A wolf's desire to have pups is insatiable, trust me I know. The day I found out I was pregnant your father nearly shifted in the hospital room because he was that happy and excited.” I said, picking Abigail up and cradling her in my arms as I looked back up at Anna, smiling. Anna started laughing at the thought of her father being like that, but it was true. He nearly tried to carry me everywhere I went and if I hadn't told him about it he would have carried me to the bathroom as well.   “Mom, are you wanting another baby? Is this what all of this is about? I mean you're giving me the baby talk.” Anna asked and I knew that I couldn't lie to her. I wanted to try and have another child, I felt it in my heart everytime I saw one. I looked back up at Anna and smiled.   “Yeah, I want to try again, but I think your father already has his hands full with the both of us and now this newborn. I don't know how he would feel about it, so I….” I said, but stopped as I heard someone clearing their throat behind me. I turned around and saw Mercury standing in the doorway and it made me worry about just how much he had heard of our conversation. How long had he been standing there? Would he be annoyed that I hadn't spoken to him about this or would he feel hurt?
