Chapter 16

Hawk’s P.O.V   I knew as soon as we got into this house that the man would be full of lies, just like all the others before him. It was always the same story, either they had a gambling problem or they were trying to impress some lady. When Mercury mind-linked me and asked me to look in the kitchen, I just nodded and went straight there. I saw a few containers above the sink, but no cookie jars though, which was normally the first place dumbasses like him kept the money. I walked over to the stove and looked up to see that there were a few containers there too. I reached up for them and they were pretty heavy, so I took all of them off the shelf and opened each one. One was full of flour, the other sugar and another one that looked like creamer, so I decided to break all three. I’ve played this game many times before and sure enough I was right. As soon as the flour container broke open, money came out of it. I broke the other containers and the same happened again, all three containers held money in them. I walked over to the containers above the sink and did the same, revealing even more money and finally I walked over the mess to the fridge and freezer. I opened the door and was surprised to see rolls of hundred dollar bills, hiding in the back. I took a plastic bag from the back of the door and filled it up with all the money I had found before walking back into the living room and throwing the bag on the table.   “Well, well, well, look what we have here. I thought you were broke, Colby. I thought you only had a thousand. Why did you have to lie to us, man?” I asked, as Mercury looked at the bag which had money spilling out of it. Colby was sweating bullets now, thinking of what he was going to say next and how he was going to justify this to Mercury.   “I….I didn’t know…..I didn’t know it was in there.” Colby replied, using the stupidest excuse I have ever heard. Colby’s eyes were glued to Mercury as he watched him take out his gun and put the silencer on it.   “Well you see, Colby. I don't believe you.” Mercury said, tapping the gun in his hand. Mercury shot Colby in the kneecaps, making him scream out in pain as he fell forwards and off the chair.   “Why are you screaming? You don't have any reason to scream….yet.” Mercury asked, shooting him in his hands. He walked over to Colby and pointed the gun to the temple of his head.   “If you ever lie to me again, I’ll kill you, motherfucker. Dont ever f*****g lie to the one that feeds you.” Mercury said, then hit him with his gun, knocking him out. Kenny and I dragged him into his room, leaving him on the floor, while William grabbed the money off the table. We all walked out the front door, closing it behind us and got back into our car, driving off. William and Mercury sat in the back, counting the money, Kenny was sitting next to me and I was driving as I watched through the rear view mirror as both of them looked at me with their eyes wide.   “What? What's wrong?” I asked, curious.   “You're not going to believe this, but there's over nine hundred thousand dollars here.” William replied, shocked, but Mercury looked pissed and confused.   “For crying out loud, he could have paid me back and still have plenty of money left over. Instead he chose to lie to me and in the end he had it all taken away from him.” Mercury said and I just simply shook my head. He was a complete and utter fool, why didn't he just pay back what he owed? He would have been better off if he had.   William’s P.O.V   “Let's head home, we took care of business, so let's go rest and relax. I want to be with my mate.” Mercury said, chuckling.   “You've grown soft, boss. I remember when you didn't care at all if there was a woman waiting for you to get home.” Kenny said, laughing.   “I haven't gone soft, I’m truly and madly deeply in love with my mate, there's a difference.” Mercury replied, smiling.   “Yeah you're right, once we’re in love it's a whole different story, let's go home, boss.” Kenny said, making me chuckle nervously. I was going to ask Anna to marry me tonight and I was so nervous about asking Mercury for his blessing, hoping he wouldn't say no.   “Goddess William, whatever it is, just come right out and say it. I can smell your fear, so what's going on? Why are you so scared to talk to me?” Mercury asked, interrupting my thoughts. I felt myself getting even more nervous and worried. What if he said no?
