Chapter 12 back into the woods

Updated  Cheyenne’s P.O.V the next morning I couldn't sleep anymore, so I got up, showered and got dressed, all the time being careful not to wake Mercury. I knew that once he woke up he would see that I wasn't in bed and he would do his routine of showering, getting dressed and then coming to find me, so I didn't bother to leave a note or anything as he always found me. I went out to see if Anna was awake and surprisingly I found her in the kitchen, already making breakfast.   “Hey mom, want a bagel?” Anna asked, but I shook my head and sighed as I sat down at the island.   “Alright, spill it. What's wrong, mom?” Anna asked, making me feel guilty about telling her this, especially when she had enough going on in her life, but I knew that if I didn't tell her then she would worry and force it out of me.   “Well, I thought that the werecat, Nelsa, was the one calling out to me, but it couldn't have been and it wasn't. I mean she was calling out to me, but she wasn't the only one and Nelsa had only been calling out to me for a few hours at most, but this has been going on for weeks now. There is something else out there that has and is still calling out to me, but I don't know what or who it is. I would normally speak to your dad about this, but I also know that he would never let me go out there on my own and would probably assign guards to me, which is a real pain in the ass.” I replied, ranting slightly. The headaches I had felt stopped when I found Nelsa, but they came back with a vengeance the same night and now they were driving me nuts.   “Well, why didn't you say so, mom? We can go out together and find out what it is, we will go out later when dad is deep in his office and Alpha duties. William told me he has a conference call later today, so that will be the perfect time and he won't even know we are missing.” Anna said, making me smile at her sneakiness.   “Alright, that sounds like a good plan. By the way, your father heard what we were talking about yesterday in your room. He caught the tail end of it and the good news is that he has been wanting the same thing and we are trying, the great news is that I might be pregnant.” I replied and she started jumping up and down on the spot.  “I could be a big sister soon, that's great news. I was wondering if dad had heard anything and I am glad that you talked about it and agreed to try again. I am so happy for you, but I also do not want to know the details. We’ll wait a week and then get you a test to find out.” Anna said, calming down a little. Just then I heard Mercury humming as he walked downstairs and came into the kitchen.   “There you are, I was wondering where you went.” Mercury said as he walked over and kissed both Anna and I on the cheeks.   “What's for breakfast?” Mercury asked, pouring himself a cup of coffee.   “Bagels, there in the oven, I warmed them up. The cream cheese is in the ice box.” Anna replied, but Mercury scrunched up his nose in disgust.   “I would rather have eggs, bagels are for girls.” Mercury said, chuckling.   “Heyy!!!” Anna and I replied, offended. I ate my delicious bagel, while Mercury turned the stove on and got the eggs and ham out of the fridge. He chopped up the ham and cooked the eggs before plating it all up and sitting down to eat. Once he had finished eating he cleaned up the mess he had made and wiped his mouth.   “I gotta go, I have a conference call with two Alpha’s who are fighting over territory. If you need me I’ll be in my office for most of the day.” Mercury said as I thought for a moment.   “Anna and I are going to do the whole makeover thing, so we’ll see you in a few hours.” I replied and kissed his cheek as he left for his office and Anna and I went out the door to the car. Anna waited until we got in the car, looking around before she spoke.   “Why did you say we were going for a makeover?” Anna asked and I laughed.   “Trust me, I know what your father is like and I had to make an excuse quickly or he would be wondering what we were doing if we both suddenly left the pack house.” I replied, making her nod and smile. We drove down the dirt road until we came to the main gates to the territory where four guards were stationed. As soon as they saw me they bowed their heads and opened the gates for us, not asking any questions, which I was so thankful for.   “Thank you.” I said as we drove past them and through the gates. I looked through the rear view mirror, watching the guards as they closed the gates and continued to drive until we were far enough away and unable to be seen by any of the pack members. I parked the car up in a small entrance to the woods, where nobody would notice it.   “We need to be extremely careful and quiet. If we are seen by anyone then your father will blow a gasket. Let's get out and head into the woods, but keep your eyes open. If I tell you to run then do it, no arguments.” I said, looking all around to make sure the coast was clear. My head began to throb as we got out of the car and it was like the car was somehow shielding me from whatever was calling me. The noise seemed to turn into some weird type of humming and the further we went into the woods, the louder it got and the more it annoyed me.   “Are you okay, mom?” Anna asked as I began to rub my temples and I just nodded as we continued to walk.
