Chapter 13

Updated  Cheyenne’s P.O.V   Anna and I headed further into the woods and I kept hearing the noise, it kept getting louder, the longer we walked. The noise suddenly stopped and then I could hear words being sung to me and I knew exactly what it was. A siren. Someone had sent a f*****g siren after me, just like they had done to Anna, but why? Anna suddenly stopped walking and grabbed my hand, stopping me too as she pointed to a tree to the right of us and there it was. This thing had raggy red hair that looked like it hadn't been washed or brushed in years and she was wearing a dress that looked like it had been through a shredder. Anna immediately pulled out her dagger and I was surprised to see that she had it with her as I never saw her pick it up, but then again I bet she always carried it just in case, she was after all mine and Mercury’s daughter and we had taught her well. We carefully stepped closer to the tree, but then I accidentally stepped on a branch, snapping it in half and making a loud noise in the quiet forest. The siren turned around and hissed as soon as she saw us. It came running right at us with its claws out and we managed to pull back, just as it lunged for us, making it stumble and fall to the ground. Anna quickly got on top of it and stabbed it between the eyes. She twisted the dagger so it would go further into her head and then pulled the dagger out before plunging it back into her head once more and then pulled it out again before jumping off her.   “Fire.” Anna whispered and the siren quickly went up in flames.   “Do you still hear anything?” Anna asked and I shook my head.   “No, thank the Moon Goddess. I’ve been wondering what it was and now I know, but I wonder who sent it and why?” I replied, grateful that my headache was quickly disappearing. The ringing in my ears had stopped and I was no longer feeling tired either, so it was obvious that it had all been caused by this b***h, but why? That was the biggest question on my mind.   “Who knows, mom, but we need to be more careful. Who or whatever it is that did this and sent her here, is still out there and I bet it won't be the last time they come for you.” Anna said and I nodded, knowing she was right.   “Yeah I know, but at least it's over for now and I don't have to deal with the headaches anymore. Come on, we need to get to the salon for a makeover, your dad is going to want to see us dolled up or he will get suspicious.” I replied and Anna nodded as we made our way back to the car.   Mercury’s P.O.V   I was hoping that I could just quickly deal with these Alpha’s, but no, I was on the phone for hours dealing with these fools and their petty dispute over territory. They had been arguing back and forth about who deserved it as they slaged each other off and I had finally had enough of their s**t.   “Listen to me, you dumbasses. Neither of you need any more territory, so whoever finds it keeps it and if I hear of either of you trying to take it away from the other I’ll have both of your heads. Do I make myself clear?” I roared down the phone and then hung up, not bothering to wait for either of them to reply. Just then Cheyenne and Anna came walking through the door and I remembered what one of my guards had told me.   “So, how was your trip to the salon? I see you both have new haircuts and it looks beautiful on both of you.” I said, making both of them smile.   “So, which one of you is going to tell me why you didn't come to me and tell me why you killed a siren?” I asked, making them both suddenly frown. I watched as they stood there, looking at one another and I wondered which one was going to be the first one to speak up.   “Dad, mom was still having headaches and she kept hearing that bitches call. We had to do something, so we went to find it and it attacked us first so we killed it. Someone or something sent it after mom, they put the siren up to it, but we don't know who or why. We didn’t lie about having a girls day though, see, we got our hair, feet and nails done.” Anna replied and I shook my head.   “I’m not mad, I was worried. Next time anything like this happens, please tell me and I will help. How else will I know if you don't tell me? Now, if you will excuse us, I need to talk to your mother alone.” I replied and Anna nodded, leaving the office and closing the door behind her.   “Listen Mercury, before you get all huffy and puffy, we are both fine.” Cheyenne said and before she knew what was happening I had her pinned up against the wall looking deep into her eyes.   “Listen to me, the last time I almost lost you. Do you understand how I feel? They almost burned you to death and I almost lost you. I can’t live without you, don't do this again. Do I make myself clear?” I asked and I knew that she was about to argue with me, but before she could say anything I stopped her.   “Do I make myself clear? I am still the King of the mafia, I can be ruthless and you know this. Now I will ask again, do I make myself clear?” I asked, using my Alpha tone and showing her my dominance.
