As soon as she understood, a beautiful smile blossomed on her pink lips.
“Oh My! You looked cold but it turned out you are considerate. That’s great!” Somehow Samantha turned energetic which was the complete opposite of how she looked timid from the time William had met her.
He felt that there was a switch behind her that could change her personality. Did someone sneak and switch that button on her now?
Now she did not look reluctant, calm or elegant.
Instead she resembled a spoiled and energetic Princess who was spoiled since childhood. She looked charming and the smile on her face was bright enough to warm up anyone around her.
William couldn’t accept such a sudden change in her personality and pressed his temples to calm himself.
Then looked back at her as if nothing just happened and repeated his question, “So, are you forced into this marriage or not?”
Samantha blinked her bright blue eyes and nodded her head, “How did you notice though? I am sure I did not slip anything in all my acting until now, right? Or did I slip something?”
She placed her index finger on her lower lip while thinking of where she could have slipped in her acting until now.
Since her father had warned her, she didn’t act like she was forced to get married to William. Instead all she did was look like she was calm and was not exactly interested in this marriage.
She knows that it would not be said to be a flaw because this marriage is not out of love but instead a business deal between her Fiance and her Father. In such a situation, any woman would look uninterested.
Hence Samantha was sure that she did not slip anywhere that she was ‘forced’.
William’s lips twitched once again as he looked at her thinking very seriously about such a silly question and answered calmly, “I just saw the exchange between you and Henry before we came out for the walk.”
“...” Samantha was dumbfounded, “So, it is not a mistake in my acting but it is my dad’s mistake, right? Hehehehe.”
Once she realized that the mistake was not hers but her Father’s, Samantha started chuckling and then into a full-fledged laugh happily.
William was speechless. Isn’t this woman’s train of thought a bit weird? Why was she laughing happily just because the mistake was her father’s and not hers? Whoever made the mistake, in the end didn’t they let the cat out of the bag?
Well, it is not like it was that big of a deal either. Hence he did not care much about all of this ‘forced marriage’ thing.
Samantha finally stopped her laughing and cleared throat, “Well, since you already found out, then let us just be clear about everything. Okay?”
“Hmm,” Being a man of few words, William gave a slight nod and a simple answer.
Samantha did not care but smiled. This smile resembled that of Henry’s but William did not feel that they were alike.
They resembled only because they were father and daughter. But the intentions between both their smiles were as different as north and south.
One was hiding all his thoughts under his smile while the other was displaying all her emotions through that smile.
“So? Did you find your mate?” It was Samantha that asked the question.
William raised an eyebrow, “You found your mate?”
Samantha smiled brightly with her pearly teeth visible and nodded her head. She held onto a tree at the side and twirled around it elegantly before finding a spot on a rock to take a seat, “Yes, I did find my mate.”
One look at her and it would be very clear how she was lovestruck with her mate.
“If you found your mate, then why are you getting engaged to me?” William asked.
Samantha looked at William. Her smile did not fade but her eyes looked blank, “Do you really not know?”
“Well, I can guess but since we are being open with each other, I don;t want to play any guessing games here,” William was straight forward without hiding any of his thoughts.
Yes, he can guess but does he have to use his brain cells to guess about this tiny matter?
Should he really care about this matter so much that he had to waste his time thinking about it?
Samantha didn’t care much about his lack of interest either. In a way, they both were the same. They were just prisoners of the situation they couldn’t escape from.
Thus she nodded her head in understanding. She also liked being direct like this instead of scheming against the backs of others.
Thus she relaxed even more in front of William, “My mate is of ‘lower class’ according to my Father. So he did not accept us being together.”
William gave a nod, “Where is he now?”
“My mate?” William nodded and Samantha replied, “My father banished him from the pack so as to keep us away from each other. He is now living the life of a rogue, trying to escape other packs.”
There is no way any pack would let a rogue wolf come near them. Hence as soon as someone finds a rogue, they would finish him off. Hence living the life of the rogue is the most difficult for any wolf.
William understood this fact and felt pity towards Samantha and her mate. “You want to get back together?”
“Of course. Who wouldn’t? But how would it be possible?” Samantha was excited for a second and discouraged the next.
William felt like this woman was full of colors. Her feelings were always written clearly on her face. And there are many ‘switches’ behind her back which would suddenly get pressed.
