Switches

1015 Words
William felt like this woman was full of colors. Her feelings were always written clearly on her face. And there are many ‘switches’ behind her back which would suddenly get pressed. Every switch showcases a different color. Every color was so different from each other and yet she could easily switch into that color perfectly. Elegant switch: perfect. Carefree switch: perfect. Happy switch: perfect. Dejected switch: perfect. Lovestruck switch: perfect. Reluctant switch: perfect. Timid switch: perfect. Talkative switch: perfect. Thinking switch: perfect. Dumb switch: perfect. It has been just a couple of hours since William met this woman but he had already seen all these switches. He could somehow feel that she had many more switches in her and all he had seen were just a few from a sack. He found her interesting. “You are interesting,” He worded his thoughts immediately. Samantha looked at him in shock, “Please don’t. I still love my Mate.” “...” ‘So what? Did I say that I want you to love me now?’ Though he did not say those words, Samantha read his thoughts from his dumbfounded expression and scratched the back of her head in a silly way, “Hehehe.” “So? You did not find your mate. Then what about someone you like? Have anyone like that?” Samantha changed the subject smoothly. An image of a certain weird man flashed in front of William’s eyes suddenly. He was shocked and shook his head to get rid of the image that just came into his view. Why did he even think of Oliver when Samantha asked about someone whom he likes? He really did not understand. Maybe it was because that man used the word ‘fate’ and said he would come back into his life. Those words were deeply rooted in his memories and thus he recalled his image. There could be no other reason. He managed to reason himself in this way before looking at Samantha and shaking his head in reply to her question, “No.” But when he looked at her, he found her expression to be strange. There was a teasing glint in her sparkling eyes as she looked at him, “You just thought of someone, right? Who is that? Who is that?” William dodged his eyes while Samantha came near his face to continue her inquiry. He craned his head backwards and turned sideways so he would not look into her eyes. Somehow he got scared that she would be able to read his thoughts once she looked into his eyes. “I didn’t think of anyone,” he still managed to speak despite the voice being too soft. “Hmph! Liar. I can totally see that you thought of someone. That look on your face~ Ahh! You are still in the first stage of love. Hmm.. hmm.. I can see it. I can totally see it~” She looked so excited that William did not know how to react at all. Where was elegance and where was the calmness that she showed earlier. Everything was a fake. Look at her now. She looked like a little fan girl whose eyes were shaped into small hearts and felt love was everywhere so looked at. Also, weren’t they supposed to be talking about their engagement to each other? Why is she getting excited about his probable love story with someone she doesn’t know? William was about to go crazy if he talked to her for a while more but he also felt the energetic vibes coming off her. He started enjoying these vibes. After getting injured, his life was filled with an unknown darkness. It was not much better before the injury but with the companionship of a good friend named Steven, he did not feel as dark. But since the injury, he lost his friend and the additional pain that the reason behind the injury was none other than that very own friend made his heart fall into a deep hole. It's been a long time since someone was chatting in such a lively manner in front of him. He thus did not feel any disgust towards this woman and replied softly, “There is really no one.” Samantha rolled her eyes and puffed up her cheeks into a pout clearly showing that she did not believe his words in the least. “Okay, stop talking about my love life. Let us talk about our engagement first, shall we?” William changed the topic back to the serious matter which should have been their main priority since the start. He doesn’t recall how the topic had changed to his love interest though. Samantha too turned serious and spoke, “Hmm. As far as I know, you need the strength of our pack to fight someone. Is that right?” “Yes,” William gave a short and crisp answer. “So, we can’t cancel our engagement now or according to my Father’s character, there is no way he would support you in your battle if you are not related to him somehow.” Samantha started analyzing the matter seriously which was very different from her previous cheeky behavior. Now William started getting used to her switches and thus remained calm as he gave a simple nod showing that he agreed to her words. “No matter what, we have to continue with the engagement. Only if we get engaged would we both get what we wanted. You would get your support from the pack for your battle and I could let my Father’s guard down so that he would not go attack my mate.” William now understood that she was getting engaged to him because she wanted to make sure her mate would be out of danger from her Father’s wrath. He also understood that she already had a plan in her mind to deal with everything in the future even if they really got engaged to each other. He started looking forward to her next words.
