Chapter 11: Dilemma (2) *** ‘He’s taking an awfully long time to get back… it’s already been about three hours… I wonder if something didn’t happen?’ Evelyn wondered to herself as she stood by the window, looking outside. “Waiting for your sister?” The mother walked up to what she thought was her son. “She’ll be back soon, so come have the dinner you made.” She said as she urged the other to follow her. “It’s not a problem, you can start without me… I’m a bit worried about Eve…” Evelyn said as she turned to her mother. The dinner she’d prepared was actually edible, she glanced at her father who was already eating. “Alright…” The mother went back to the table to join her husband. Soon enough the expensive car Evelyn saw earlier that night was parked in the driveway, out of it walked her brother but she was a little surprised to see them kiss before the man left… Evan walked back inside his house feeling like he’d just had the time of his life, when he was met with his sister that basically dragged him off to the woman’s room. “Hm? Why did Evan just pull Evelyn like that? Are they fighting again?” The father asked as he noticed them acting strange. “Evan was very worried for his sister, I bet he’s going to scold her for staying out so late. Haha… he’s so caring.” The mother replied as they went back to their uneventful dinner… * * * “Could you tell me what exactly happened?” Evelyn asked after she closed the door behind her. “Why on earth were you just kissing him?” “Very funny story actually… Remember that camp thingy we went to five years ago? Turns out it wasn’t you who met the guy, it was me, though I can’t blame him for not noticing the difference.” Evan said as he calmly took off the wig and proceeded to change out of the dress he wore. Evelyn turned her back to her brother as he changed yet continued talking to him. “Wait… so he actually likes you?” “He likes me yes… but maybe more so because he thinks I’m a girl. I’m not really sure if he’s straight or not, but I guess I’ll find out on our next date.” Evan said calmly as he put on his favorite edgy looking T-shirt and short pants. “What next date? This wasn’t in the plan…” Evelyn said as she turned back around to face her brother. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about… Let’s do this a few more times and then I’ll let him down gently?” Evan said as he smiled but he had a pleading expression as he looked at his sister. “Why would you want to continue this? Weren’t you the one complaining about the make-up and the dress and everything…?” Evelyn asked as she sat down on the chair next to the man’s desk and leaned back. “I know… I know… but he’s a great guy… and I like the attention… He got me a present, because he remembered I liked LPA, look they’re tickets to a meet and greet of the cast! Isn’t it amazing? Not to mention he’s so respectful… and the way he gets all nervous and shy is so incredibly adorable…” Evan sounded like a love struck man to say the least. His head was more or less in the clouds already. “Look… Evan I don’t mind doing it again but… you can’t just continue fooling the guy…” Evelyn said as she showed a rather worried expression on her face. “Yeah, I just want one more date, no make it two more… Three’s the charm, right? Pleasee…” Evan said as he held both his hands out in a begging gesture. “Sure… It’s not like I don’t enjoy acting like you.” Evelyn said with a smile on her face. She grabbed some make up removal wipes and began getting rid of the make-up off of her brother’s face. “Do you? Then it’s a win-win!” Evan said with excitement as he sat down on the bed. “I wonder what I should wear on the next date…” He said out loud. “Were is it going to be?” Evelyn asked out of curiosity. “Here.” Evan replied with a calm voice. “Oh, right then… what?? Here? He’s going to come here?” Evelyn stopped moving her hands as she looked at her brother in surprise. “Yeah we talked and he said he wanted to try my cooking so I offered him to have dinner here with us…” Evan explained, he turned to his sister who looked shocked if anything. “Bro… your cooking sucks, how are you going to make anything for him? Not to mention… mom and dad being here is going to make things awkward isn’t it?” Evelyn said as she looked down at the ground as if she’d lost all hope in humanity. “Ah, he’s going to bring his parents here as well, so it’s fine, they’ll speak amongst themselves, we’ll speak amongst ourselves. Oh he doesn’t have any siblings though so you might be bored…” Evan thought to himself as he took the make-up removal wipe and began taking off the make-up himself. “And I know my cooking’s s**t, so I’ll need you to help me this time around…” “Wait… you knew it’s bad yet you still helped mom who’s comparably worse than you?” Evelyn asked, this might have been the single most shocking development that night. “Yeah, I mean if mom wants to cook the way she does, who am I to stop her, it doesn’t taste that bad either, dad seems to like it.” Evan said as he finally finished removing all the make-up he had on… “You…” Evelyn held back the urge to face palm at that moment. ‘You’re trying to tell me dad’s sacrifices for all these years were all in vain?!’ She thought to herself as she calmed herself down again. “Alright then what am I getting in return? I already got your MC figurine covered, mom’s buying it by the way…” Evelyn said as she crossed her arms and looked at her brother expectedly. “Hm… what would you want…” Evan said as he turned back to the desk and got a small notebook with card covers that was tucked away on the side. “Let’s see your diary to find out~”
