Chapter 21

880 Words
Aylee's POV Colton's lips are on my cheek, traveling all the way towards my neck. He looks like he doesn't want to stop, and I don't want him to stop either. I tug at his hair making him groan. He gently bites at the base of my neck and I think I am going to walk around with a hickey but at this point, no one cares. Just as he is about to go further, a knock on my door makes us stop and groan equally louder. I shove him under my bed and ask for them to enter, only to see it's Rowan. "Come out of there. I can see your feet you tall ass man," Rowan says and Colton comes out, totally embarrassed. "Couldn't you wait for just two weeks more until she gets her wolf and is legally an adult according to werewolf standards?" Rowan asks again, making Colton turn pink with shame as he storms off. "Why did you even scare him that way?" I ask Rowan and he scoffs. "Let me tell you once again, sweetie pie. He is not at all good for you," he says, making me roll my eyes. "Well, that is all you ever say but you don't say why. What's the reason you don't like him?" I ask him and he contemplates before saying something. "I didn't want to reveal it until you were okay, but did you ever ask him about his mate?" He asked me. I shake my head. Because he doesn't have a mate. I have been seeing him for so many years and he doesn't have a mate. "When did he ever get the time to find his mate?" I ask him back and he nods. "Come. Let's recheck the security systems. Alpha Farrell might march towards us at any given moment now," Rowan says. I don't say anything. He just doesn't like Colton even though Colton is trying his best to be nicer to Rowan. Mom is in the kitchen and the scent of vanilla is thick in the air. She might be making some vanilla chocolate chip cookies. Where vanilla dominates and chocolate chips are nonexistent. We have limited sources and we cannot do anything about it. It's a small pack, The Moon Set Pack. Rowan and I go through the security check and the defense systems. People love Rowan and it's clearly evident. They all greet him and talk to him more than they are talking to me. Not that I mind, but he just steals the limelight so easily. Making me jealous here and there. "You are wasting your time preparing for defense," I hear my father's voice and close my eyes trying my best not to scream at him. "Trust me, Alpha Farrell's army is going to get in and know how weak we are," he says again and I turn around to face him. I look at that man. The one who this world believes to be my father. But I say he is just a Satan in disguise. "And you have to trust your Alpha," I say and watch him grit his teeth. "You piece of-" he walks towards me, in a very swift way but Rowan stands before me, making my father stop in an instant. "Everyone here should be standing in rows according to their ranks!" Rowan screams, with his eyes on my father. We watch everyone stand in rows neatly according to their ranks. Once Rowan made sure his message was delivered, he calmly moved out of the way and stood behind me. I am the Alpha and he is the Beta. And everyone standing according to their ranks except my father. I can see my father's face getting red with anger and I raise my eyebrow at him, challenging him to hit me now. Everyone's eyes are on him too. He doesn't say a word and walks away. "I still don't know what's wrong but -" "Let's not talk about my father," I say and turn to Rowan,"because he's dead to me" He was dead the moment he hit his daughter and chose his mistress over wife and daughter. I don't think I can ever have it in me to forgive him for that. And even now the moment he got the news that Alpha Farrell is marching his army towards us, he sent Liza away. To make sure she's safe. "So, I want you all to remember -" This time I am cut off by the loud noise of the horn. It must be a massive one to create such a sound. Rowan and I exchange our glances as we walk towards the silver gates to check on who that might be. And just like I expected, he is standing there. With his army. Alpha Farrell. His army looks five times bigger than my small one. I don't know if we stand a chance but I want to believe that we do. As if he saw me right through the cracks of the gate, his eyes met mine. And there it is. The strange sensation again. I need to get rid of this as soon as I can. Because even now, all I can think of is how his lips would feel against mine.
