Cole's POV
I hug Evelyn and place a kiss on her forehead. With no one behind me, I start walking to the north. I am now completely on alert mode taking note of every single sound around me.
"I love you! You got this!" I hear Evelyn's voice through the mindlink and I smile to myself.
"I love you more" I tell her back.
I take a step forward with a smile on my face, and out of blue a silver stake flies in air. Rushes towards me and I bend at the right time to avoid that. It all happened just in a second and I am already trying to process it.
I stand in my defensive stance and look around again. When there is no movement, I grab the silver stake and eye my surroundings again.
